My hairdresser still uses curling irons like those. You should check with a beauty supply for the doe little oven needed for them.

I would be so nervous to use the curling irons! Boiling point of water may be too low for them, but If you try that, a candy thermometer should help determine temperature more accurately. Everything else seems more like guess work and trial and error. Maybe try it out on a wig first until you get the feel? 😆

What a successful trip to the vintage car boot sale ! Everything was lovely. Very interested to see how the vintage/antique hair curling irons work..... I wouldn't have had a clue what they were ! Your looks absolutely lovely in this video 😃

Oo!! I found some vintage curling irons on Goodwill's auction site here in the US. They definitely required some serious cleaning, because they were pretty rusty. I had a feeling trying to use them like that would result in burnt-off hair with crispy/rusty ends. Terrifying thought for a long-haired lady.😂
Oh the rust leaving traces didn’t occur to me! I was just scared about burning my hair off haha. I have a ponytail from when I got a significant chop after lockdown so I might try it on that for the video instead 😂

They never showed them being heated, though. Although I guess, using the fireplace would have been the only option at the time.
If you want to be precise with the temperature...there are little gadgets that read the temperature of surfaces (infrared thermometers). You can get them for under 20€ on Amazon.
Love the strawbag. I've been eyeing similar (new) ones for the same reason - my trusted black leather bag just doesn't go well with my spring and summer wardrobe. They all seemed to be of rather questionable quality though, so I'm hoping for a nice find on a large open air flea market this Saturday.

That’s a good idea. Someone said a thermometer that you can point and test too. All fabulous ideas that make me feel a bit better about trying this!
I have a set of those hair curlers :) The shop didn't know what they were so I got them for £5 :D
