3 Best 5th Wheels Under 30' - 2024 Models

- As you all know by now Susan and I have toured and reviewed thousands of RVs over the past 4 years at RV Shows and RV dealerships across the country.
While we were at our 4th Hershey RV Show we saw a new trend developing with 5th wheel campers. We found 5th wheels that are under 30' long and it makes a lot of sense.
First of all, fifth wheel RVs under 30 feet are less expensive than larger 5th wheel RVs. So you save money!
Second, you can tow a 5th wheel RV under 30' with a smaller pickup truck. So you may be able to avoid the expense of buying a new or larger pickup truck.
And finally, 5th wheel trailers under 30' are easier to tow and park than larger fifth-wheel campers.

Many newbies aren’t aware that campsites and National Parks start cutting access (you have to turn around) at 26’ for trailers, and 30’ for 5W’s. Having a shorter RV isn’t just about weight, it’s about getting where you want to go too! THANK YOU ❤ for these!

We bought a 29 ft alliance all access 5th wheel for exactly that reason. We're empty nesters, so space is not an issue.
So far we have only had one national park turn us around in our 32 footer. They did not refuse us entry into the south entry of Sequoia they just said we would fit better if we went to the north entrance.
@@RickandDarcirvadventures that is very true about Sequoia. We went there in a 19’ motorhome and apparently that was the limit 😂
@@RVBlogger some guy in a bigger motor home than ours said he is going on through the south entrance and not going around to the north. We still wonder if he made it through
Now if only one of the companies would make a no slide unit in this category.

Hey y'all, sorry I'm late ! All three are awesome (unique) but I really like the Keystone dinette setup ! Now days that could be the major selling point as more people work and travel. So thankful manufacturers are listening (thanks to Mike and Susan) . Plus the bathroom is awesome ! Yes the others face the camp side but your back is still facing away. I really like the island in the kitchen. Thank you Susan and Mike for all you do !!

I like the Arcadia best of the 3. Love the dinette/desk space, the open living space, and the bedroom has the best closet/storage space.

Yes! We are getting power recliners in July and we can't wait!
Thank for the video. We are looking to upgrade our current travel trailer and will consider these models. Regarding propane tank size. I would go 20 or 30lb. As you noted, the 20lbs exchanges are at a number of places. But I prefer 30 lb tanks and doing refills, because you typically pay less and I have not had any more refill problems than 20lb. And probably my biggest reason is, I keep Mopeka sensors on them that I don't want to swap or forget to take off. The 30lb tanks last longer when boondocking and can still be moved around easily. We have always found refill stations by doing an online search and you are not paying for the amount left in the tank.

Great job on the comparisons.
Unfortunately, it appears manufacturers think we want shorter to spend less money - can’t get the quality items.
Our must haves is a TV across from the couch; must access bathroom, bedroom, fridge when slides in. We don’t want a slide with a bed in it anymore. And the kitchen island we have found makes the living area feel cramped. Also, windows must open wide for cross breeze.
We want shorter for easier travel and access to more sites

I've seen the Arcadia before and if I ever got a 5th wheel it would definitely be at the top of my short list.

One issue that we came upon was that most of the smaller 5th wheels are too short to be towed by a modern ton truck. We tried to get a Alliance 26RD but it would have needed to be lifted to tow with our stock 2023 Ram 3500.
Ended up with a Rockwood 2622RK which is 30 feet 6 inches long.

Great reviews Susan and Mike, as always. The first two seem to have had the same designer and the bedrooms in all three are kinda lacking in the head height department. Also most people would prefer a pantry cupboard to either have adjustable shelving and or slide out shelves. Thanks for sharing. Stay safe out there.
Thank you Tuvia! Agree about the height in the bedroom. These 5th wheels are much smaller in stature than their larger models. Not easy for taller folks. Also agree about adjustable or sliding shelves in a pantry. I want to install sliders in ours but we will lose too much space. Great video guys! The first 2 RV’s you said they sleep 4 people but the only places that I saw that 2 people could sleep was the master bedrooms. However I did see that there’s the option of having a sleeper sofa instead of the theater seats. If I had the choice to pick which one I like the most it would be the last RV shown.
Thank you so much! Sometimes the floor plan we get to tour doesn't include the option of sleeper sofas or dinettes that convert but we still include the "up to" sleeping arrangements. Hi. Enjoy these videos and am currently searching for a 5th wheel under 31 ft. I love that you often show the names of the manufacturers of the microwave, stove/oven, and fridge. Could you continue to add that information and add the manufacturer name for the 5th wheel pin and AC, please? If possible, could you also get a close-up of the plumbing connections? Never heard of Highland Ridge, so interesting and the reviews look good.

If we included information off topic our video might be a bit too long since we tour 3 RVs in each video. Our hope is that if someone sees a floor plan they really like they could check the manufacturers website for details that we couldn't include. Sorry. We love Highland Ridge! I really like this video i like that i can see all 3 video.s give a chance to compare ! i have a 26 ft. travel trailer 2013 keystone springdale.. looking to upgrade i do like the forest river but looking maybe a little bigger maybe 32 ft...but this video helps a lot ! do you have more like this ! need a king bed ! thanks
Thank you so much Ronald. So glad you enjoyed the video. We have quite a few 5th wheel camper tours but they might be a bit "old" (2-4 years). Some of those floor plans still exist but there could be newer modifications. You can also find some of the older models in the used market saving you some money. Unfortunately these RV will be a bit longer than 32'. I like the first two but I think the Keystone is my favorite. It has some really nice features. Also, I don't want a king bed; it's just me so I don't need it and sure don't want to pay for king sheets!

If you put a sleeper on that cardinal red in the place of the theater seat for me that would make it perfect. Probably won't have much access to the kitchen if the slide is closed

I like the Arcadia. They tried something different with the floorplan, which I like. I wish the 'mud room' built-in had the wiring up top and the storage down below that could be used for shoes. The table feels a little out of place. I think some sort of movable island would have worked better there. I like the Cardinal's floorplan. I actually like the cabinets not having dividers. It allows the owner the ability to have different sizes of bins. Too many of these RV's have tiny or unstandardized sized cabinets, making it difficult to find products that fit properly.
Those are all great points! I do like seeing manufacturers "breaking the mold" and trying differently layouts. We don't camp like we used to. I completely agree about cabinetry size. Arcadia is my favorite of these three but the tank sizes are too small. Love the table/desk/televator and wardrobe slide. Would prefer cabinets and counter in living room instead of that bench/coat hooks. Not a fan of the brown upholstery and fabrics and there's too many colors in the Arcadia--white and tan cabinets, black table, white counters, and brown floor, fabrics, and upholstery are all fighting each other. 🥷 NIce job on the video, Mike and Susan!

Many of the rear kitchen models have separate pulls for the tanks in 2 different locations. Do any of these have only 1 grey tank pull?
We aren't 100% sure but believe there is only grey tank on these smaller 5th wheels and since the tank capacity is at 60 gallons. Thank you for watching our RV tour video and commenting!

Hi! I have tried to find a small 5th wheel with no slides. Any suggestions?
The only small 5th wheel we have personally seen without slides is the fiberglass Escape 5.0. It's pretty small at 21'2". We did a tour of it if you are interested. I see that Scamp now has a 19' 5th wheel as well. Arcadia bathroom with outlet above the sink?! Drawer bottoms are mdf, don’t get them wet. The living area in the HR is an afterthought. Cramped and small, no reason the have manual recliners. And still easy bake ovens, and a popcorn microwave, cmon. Can’t spend more than 2 weeks, without down time with tiny wardrobes
Sometimes you have to make some sacrifices in a small space. They packed a lot in less than 30'. It think it wouldn't feel so cramped if they didn't have the kitchen island. Thank you for watching our RV tour video and commenting!

Not so much! But there are some where the living room sofa folds out into a bed. Or you could throw an air mattress on the floor for the kids.

There are 3 RVs in each video. At the beginning of each tour we say AND have a full screen graphic that tells you the make and model of each RV. My golly, I enjoy your comparative subject matter within specific RV categories,but your limited vocabulary is superior only to that of DJ Trump. Do you know an adjective other than the nebulous term “nice“? How about using dimensions or product composition or functionality? A 10 inch deep drawer with dovetail construction rather than a nice drawer. A 14 ft.³ refrigerator with 4 ft.³ freezer, rather than a nice refrigerator. A 24 inch deep standard kitchen counter rather than a nice counter. Make some effort, man!

I liked the hr roamer. Also liked that all three had roomy bathroom and shower.
I think buying the propane canisters would be more convenient than hauling your rv to the propane pump.
Hey @lickitysplitt! We also loved the HR Roamer. Those opposing slides and kitchen island were awesome. Thanks for responding to the propane cylinder question. It can be a hassle getting propane in our Class A tank so we thought it would also be a hassle in a TT or 5th wheel. Great to hear from you!
