As the first 3D game from Image & Form Games (best known for games like SteamWorld Dig or SteamWorld Quest series), The Gunk is a simple little platforming adventure full of malicious messes that are plenty of fun to clean up.

This should be commended for being a finished video game with a beginning, middle and end. It’s not full of bugs, it works how it’s supposed to and it won’t try and sell you something to fix a problem it created itself every five minutes…short and sweet, well executed entertaining goodness 🥰
Just like how the vast majority of games were pre PS4 and Xbox One era. Anyone with sense misses those times

It would be pretty pathetic if a development team couldn't make a 4hr game with no bugs or glitches.
The Elden Ring beta had more content than this and it was flawless.

It’s pretty sad that mainstream gaming makes that commendable when it should be standard.
Perfect kind of game to grab from gamepass, hope more people get to play it.

This game has a lot of potential for more complex, longer sequel. The core of the game is fantastic. Intuitive controls, beautiful art style, and interesting landscapes. Just wish it wasn't so simplified.
There's nothing wrong with a fun simple game every now and then.
@@dbzking02 you are correct, but in this case you are not, the gunk could have been a better mechanic, it's not a currency it's not a material, it's just there in hopes you like the satisfaction of cleaning. the talent system was kinda meh, the puzzles weren't horrible, not even hard in any measure. it was just kinda mediocre.
@@dbzking02 That's too true. I've learned that lesson many times while trying to play more complex games, getting bored, and finding joy in breeziness.
Installed with the game with low expectations. Finished the game in one sitting because it was so entertaining. I'm here just to read what other people think of the game.

@@ztaylor82 it's a FANTASTIC 4-hour campaign. Not every game has to be some monolithic 50+ hour slog. A lot of people don't have time for that, and even if you do it's nice to play through a whole game in a short amount of time and get the complete experience.

@@zuokia Yeah, I've read it takes about 6-7 hours for MOST people.
The body of the review sounded like an 8 or 9 game, so the score at the end surprised me.
IGN only gives 7
People seem to forget that scope is a thing. If a game is simple and doesn’t have much to make it stand out it’s not gonna be a 9 or 10 even if it doesn’t have any major issues.
The HALO Infinite campaign review sounded like a 7/ 10 and they gave it a 9/10... IGN's review narrative rarely match their end score.

Played the game for hours yesterday, love it so far
Finished the game today. It was really cool and chill. Takes about 4-5 hours to complete.
This game reminds of Mario Sunshine and that’s why I’m in love with it!
This is a great game, it offers a solid game with beautiful graphics and a simple gameplay with a duration ideal for a saturday evening, it's not a hard game at all which makes it ideal for kids. it also gives a simple exploration experience which is somewhat optional. This isnt a combat driven game, so don't expect major fights or action, and it has maybe 2-3 instances of tension, but the rest is a really chill experience.
It's not GOTY, but a lovable game to spend an evening
Tried the game out with the game pass. There was something about the art cover that attracted me to try it it out.
Played it all the way to the end. Would love to see a sequel honestly.

It seems like this dev makes games that I ignore and then can’t believe how good they are once I actually play them. Ignored Steamworld dig for YEARS… finally played it…… if you haven’t…. Please do! There is no such thing as an "accurate" rating for artistic creations which are heavily based on preferences, it's just an arbitrary number.
This lays the foundations for a potentially fantastic series.

As game pass is like Netflix now what’s wrong with a 4 hours blast too many games to get on as there is so many this works for me
I'm sick of every game being pumped full of filler content to keep me there for 50 hours. Give me a 5-10 hour game where every minute is great.
This game reminds me a bit of ReCore. Small Dev, Short Game, it's simple. People listing it as some sort of AAA game to compete with exclusives to Sony and Nintendo's offerings need to chill out.
It is a bit but it doesn't have all the fluff that game has.

Finished miles Morales in 5 hours but pony's didn't complain about the short story...... This is on Xbox and is 4 hours yet they say it's too short 😂
nice try, Miles took totally over 7-8 hours to finish only the main story and if you play casually, it could take over 10 hours to finish the main campaign. If you want 100%, it could took around 17-20 hours depends on your playstyle 🙄

The Gunk is Covid. I'm doing my damndest to eradicate the gunk while my own immune system stuggles to recover. I'm playing on my phone using Game Pass.

PROS -
The beauty was good
The mechanics were good
The storyline was good
The cleanup aspect was enjoyable
I did not finish it nor will recommend it because the cons for me out did the good by a mile.
CONS -
You cant fully get immerse because THEY - NEVER - SHUT - UP! On and on and on and on about every little detail. The devs need to realize the power of silence.
For pete sake, leave your gamer the ability to become immersed and that wont happen while yammering on every few minutes about something.
They treat the gamer like a complete moron by calling out the obvious again and again. Yes, I have eyes and see the obvious and no I don't need a perpetual
hand holding simulator. "oh look I need to hit that big button that's glowing" "oh look a plant" "oh look another pretty plant" "and did I mention you can only proceed
by walking through the only door."
The characters don't match their world and dress like some angsty teenager pouting on their bed. That's a pilot of a craft? Please, the only thing I can picture her
doing is yelling that her mom won't let her get another piercing. Puffer jackets and tennis shoes? Are we strolling the streets of New York or space travelers?
Last but not least the ship captain talks like a perpetually jaded lesbian. Always moody, depressed, always berating you, needs updates literally every few
minutes with "please don't worry me" gets cranky and storms off when you ask to talk to the alien. And don't gas light me with "oh they aren't really lesbians"
because if you heard to women talking with each other in real life that way everyone's gaydar would be exploding. It didn't add to the story in the least. If anything
it clashed with it.
This game would have been great if they'd had the protagonist by themselves. She's tech savvy, self reliant, bold and crafts her own gear. The "pilot" only knows
how to show attitude. The protagonist could have easily been her own pilot and it would fit and have taken NOTHING from the story. Everything would have gone
exactly the same and all that would have been missing was the perpetual flow of inane dialogue.
By the time I dealt with the first alien I closed the game and called it. Mizz attitude just ruined the whole experience.

Interesting platformer given its Ghostbusters/Luigi's Mansion vibes the only negative being its low resolution textures despite it not being an ancient game but the gameplay is simple fun. Kena Bridge of Spirits is superior in comparison.

Gave it a chance, but seemed rather boring and the characters weren't interesting imo. It's not a bad game, but nothing spectacular. 6/10 for me. On to the next gamepass game.

In a world with literal walking sims getting a higher rating than this, everyone in the comments sees it. It's literally a game in this age that won't waste your time with filler, it looks gorgeous and there's no bugs. I'm surprised to not hear how it's literally a new age super Mario sunshine (almost) should definitely gotten an 8 or a 9 to say the least

Today they added The Gunk, Aliens fireteam, transformers, firewatch.... you've got a few games there alongside the huge catalogue and for 7.99 a month that is a steal.
Not many games can be classed as masterpieces, but who needs them when you have such a large choice of other great fun games.
