Triple Play is a favorite tradition here at Missouri Star Quilt Company. Once a month, Jenny, Misty, and Natalie each demonstrate their own unique spin on a favorite block, technique, or template. In this episode, the talented Doan ladies share three new projects made with the Pinwheel block.
Jenny's Patchwork Pinwheels dance across simple 9-patches-all made with jelly roll strip sets. Her fabric is Strawberry Lemonade by Sherri & Chelsi of A Quilting Life for Moda Fabrics.
Misty's Pinwheel Promise is a queen-size beauty that comes together in a jiffy. It's made with precut 10 inch layer cake squares from Brilliant Blue Batik by Kathy Engle for Island Batik. Misty makes half-square triangles 16-at-a-time, and trims each one with the Clearly Perfect Slotted Trimmers A and B.
Natalie's Drunkard's Path Pinwheels is all about color and curves. It's made with the Drunkard's Patch template and 5" charm squares from Prisma Dyes Cotton Candy by Lunn Studios for Robert Kaufman, and the leftover pieces become a darling scalloped border.

Jenny, you should call your quilt ‘Peppermint Pinwheels’. They look just like peppermint candies👍🏻
Natalie's quilt would be an adorable baby quilt. The other 2 are awesome also.
Natalie, the scalloped border from the drunkards path block is genius! Love it 😊
Drunkard's Path: I mark "halfway" on my pattern and then mark the pieces so I don't have to stop to fold and crease each individual piece. Absolutely LOVE Natalie's pinwheel idea.
I love all 3, but once again I'm drawn to Natalie's unique creativity.
me too
Agree. ❤
Agree too
Always love to see y’all and your new quilts
Thank you Natalie, I'm always looking to find different uses for my templates.
You've made a somewhat complex drunkard's path into an easily made quilt.
It just so happen's, I'm sewing a heart runner with my drunkard's path template.
You've given me a wonderful idea to put on the reverse side, these lovely pinwheel's using my Drunkard's path template.
Thanks ladies wonderful quilt's each and everyone.❤
Amazing how each quilt looks so different from the other two, yet they all have the common pinwheel as their base! This is what makes quilting so interesting and satisfying. There are limitless quilts to make!❤
Natalie, your quilts are fabulous. Your weight loss looks wonderful on you.
Natalie, your quilt reminds me of spring and Easter. Jenny, yours is a perfect picnic quilt, and Misty, yours is my favorite. It reminds me of snowflakes and frost on the windows. Love them all, really look forward to triple play, thanks!
Ladies you are so talented not just in your designs but in your ease of teaching us in your tutorials. Thank you so much
I always love seeing their plays on the same concept. Jenny's traditional take, Misty's modern interpretation, and (my constant favorite) Natalie's out-of-the-box vision! There's always something for everyone one.
I am so drawn to Misty’s Blue and White Quilt, Natalie’s is a perfect baby quilt, a Jenny’s is picnic perfect! These 3 ladies constantly amaze me!
You gals need to get yourself a rotary mat! It makes the process of cutting so much easier and accurate. Fun to watch you gals
Oh Natalie!! I love the color choice with the drunkards path as a pinwheel...the colors and the rounded edge are so soft for a baby quilt! Love it!
This is my favorite part of MSQC. It’s fun to watch three wonderful quilt artists create three different amazing quilts. Thanks. ❤❤❤
All 3 quilts are beautiful, but I like Misty's the best! I think it would be easy to make it smaller if you don't need such a large quilt.
Misty's quilt is great for making a bed size quilt quickly and when you have a fabric.you really love. I can see this in Kaffe with a black background
Ooooooo!! I. Finally just getting to sort of like Kaffe fabrics - just can’t handle them all together😄😄😄
Love the secondary pinwheel with the little sashing block in the middle!
Misty pulling out the giant quilt!! Wow!!
Natalie's quilt would be great for my 3rd great grandbaby coming this year. ❤
So interesting that so many "quilts" done lately are so small!!! THx so much for all these great ideas
Hi, I love the quilts! Just a note...I miss the quilt block diagram on the information sheet. Knowing the supplies is necessary , but the visual of the block has always been so helpful to me. I hope it makes a comeback!
Me too! I take a picture and hold so I recall my favorites for my Next Quilt bin
Because I love scrappy..I love Jenny’s pinwheel and the way it comes together❤
Natalie's quilt would make a beautiful easter lap quilt. Love all 3
Love this! I wish it was longer! I always look forward to early Friday morning (late Thursday night) so I can see MSQC tutorials!!!
I loved all three quilts.❤️. Ladies, you’ve hit another one out of the park! Thank you.
I usually have a favorite pattern that one of these very talented ladies made but, my goodness, this time I loved every single one!
They are all so cute. Fun to see all the differences.
That strawberry lemonade fabric... I so love it. I would've never thought of putting together the blocks like that! And Natalie's take on the drunkards path pin wheel.. I've never been one that liked drunkards path design but I do like this one! I made a quilt for my daughter recently similar to Misty's.
All three are unique in their own ways. Thanks ladies for another great Triple Play!
That design that Jenny did is just FANTASTIC! I always enjoy all three quilts on the Triple Play, but that one is amazing!
Loved all three quilts. Natalie your fabric reminds me of sherbet!
Ladies you are amazing, a joy to watch and inspiring! Another awesome show and quilts! ❤
These are all great but Natalie's screams Easter 🥰🥰
I love all 3 twists to the pinwheel block ❤ Jenny’s is a fabulous picnic size and a great use of a jelly roll! Misty, I have not really been a fan of Batiks but this is beautiful! Natalie, I love your take with the drunkards path and that scalloped border is so sweet!! ❤ thanks ladies for sharing these gorgeous quilts❤
On the curved piecing, it is easier to sew with the concave piece on the bottom. Let the feed dogs do all the work, resist the urge to pull the fabric to fit. It really is very easy!
Ooh all lovely, but you had me at Robert Kaufman batiks. Hugs, Chel 🌸
Loving that big quilt from Misty. And appears to take no time at all!’n❤🎉
Love all three…..ladies and quilts! I really like Natalie’s use of the Drunkards Path and a.ways a special treat to watch Triple Play.
Such a creative border of clamshells, Natalie! I love all three quilts and very much enjoy seeing how different your quilts are each month. You're all inspiring!
You three are the most creative ladies I know! Each quilt is unique in its own way! Thanks sew much! ❤️✂️🪡🧵
💕I don’t know how you all come up with all these beautiful quilts. 🌸
Boy, where to start! They’re all delightful! Good job, ladies❤
I LOVE PINWHEELS! So I always have a favorite in triple play and this time it is Misty’s. I love a big block quilt and I am always looking for big quilt patterns - we have a big bed! Great tutorial on all the quilts! Thank you girls!
Great job, ladies. I love triple play day. I am always surprised with how inventive y’all are. Many thanks for the great videos!!
Beautiful, Beautiful and Beautiful 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Love pinwheels. Love Misty's large quilt. You should make a technique sheet for the making of pinwheels using the "sew around outside" of the square and the smaller pinwheels (16 at a time) in varying sizes. I would love to have. I have a pattern that calls for hundreds of HSTs.
#2! Love these triple play videos ! Happy sewing!
Oh, Natalie! That is the perfect baby quilt that I have been looking for. Hey, what happened to your beautiful blue ring? Thanks for the video!
Love Natalie's quilt, she has a unique way of putting a different slant on her quilts. I love watching her bring her quilts together.❤
Misty I love your quilt but I really love all 3 quilts. Pinwheel is the 1st quilt block I made when I was new at making quilts.
Love them all. Thank you ladies for bringing me joy every Friday morning!
Misty's Pinwheel of Promise would be great in red, white, and blue colors for patriotic. Could have the small pinwheel in red and white colors. Thank you for sharing this great quilt pattern with us.
The triple play is my favorite episode. You three are amazing. What a family! 😊
Great new way to make half square triangles!
I like all three, but Natalie-wow! A pinwheel from the drunkards path. Looks like flower petals spinning

Ooooo, Natalie wins this one! The movement created in this design is marvelous. Everything about it is cheerful, perfect for the baby's room.
I am totally intimidated by curves, but I think I'll have to get over it and try Drunkard's Path Pinwheels.

Thank you for another beautiful triple play ladies just fabulous!
Love all three of them! Thank You!! 🎉🎉🎉
All of the quilts really are nice, but Natalie’s is my favorite as usual hers is the one. Great job everyone.
I am working on a quilt that has 800 1/2 square triangles using the tube options. Love doing them this way!
My design wall is right behind my sewing machine - I also will keep a finished block on that wall in front of me and will stack my blocks so I sew multiple at the same time.
Oh my gosh, I love all three of these. Well done ladies.
Three goregous quilts - again!
Wow girls you all did so amazing !! I love them all and don’t know which one to do first ❤thanks for all your great videos I look forward to every triple play !!
You are all wonderful; but Natalie's designs knock me out every time. Good job Ladies.

Love all three of the quilts. I especially like Natalie’s pattern and the soft colors of the fabric.
