Sega is putting out virtual fighter 5 to test market audience response, I hope the sales is enough to enable virtual fighter franchise to be continue on ago. And I wish it doesn't go down the full flashy over the top direction like the other fighting series. This game martial animation is art when you know what you are doing with your character moveset.
The new version has better detail, better textures but the LED/neon/natural lights and the reflection of them seem more realistic and smoother in the old release.
@@billyj.causeyvideoguy7361 I noticed a few more things. The lights in the old version, including natural lights like torches always emanate a single color like red or blue. The old one also seemed to use more rim light or extra light sources without a visible source in the environment, the sand dunes on the ground in Eileen's stage cast shadows for example in a way that looks prettier than the modern version, but the modern version is more consistent with the position of the sun in the scene. That's why in general I would say that the old version sacrifices realism in exchange for artistic style.
It's just that they have different artistic choices, both look great. But the old look has too much reflection even where on place where is not supposed to have reflection

Animation and motion capture for basic body movements in fighting games on this level has been a thing since tekken 3 on ps1. It depends on the studio and what they put into it. Now a comparison between old VF5, DOA5 Last Round and the new VF5 for the characters that were part of the crossover, it's just that with Sarah in particular I feel her DOA5 model is the best looking one.
The original was more stylish and vibrant, the new one looks off but it still looks pretty good. Its crazy that the original VF5 is still the best console version like 15 years later

Character models are def better but I feel like the majority of the levels took a downgrade. They're pretty drab compared to the original. Love the game regardless though and glad they've brought it back

Can someone tell me why the UI in almost all VF games is always so consistently bad? Always bland , amateurish, unfitting, or straight up bad looking, It always brings them down because the game graphics and music are usually gorgeous but the UI gives a cheap/budget look to the game and i can understand people being turned off by that. .. please AM2 hire a good UI designer, it has been almost 30 years!

Yeah the Dragon Engine is a big improvement but the PS3 version still looks better due the colors and contrast. If they can fix the light to look like the SEGA Lindbergh version it would be perfect.

People complain and said the reflection on the PS3 version is better than PS4 version. What I see actually on PS3 version there are too many bloom and over reflection on character body and looks like plasticky . The PS4 version are using material based lighting reflection so it will not be too reflective based on the texture material used on the body, cloth , and environment stage .
Foi uma belíssima remasterização da Sega. o PS4 atropela com texturas, cor da pele dos personagens e iluminação BEM mais realistas. A aurora no cenário da Sarah aos 05:35 adicionou uma camada extra de beleza e charme ao cenário, ficou lindo. O único ponto que me agradou mais no PS3 é o Pôr do Sol no cenário da Vanessa em 06:45 mas mesmo assim o PS4 ainda ganha no realismo ali. PS4 matou geral! As escolhas da Sega foram muito boas. Eu não mudaria nada!
Jogo tem que ser jogo, essa história de textura e realismo não adiciona em nada , a única coisa que pode ser colocada como positivo são as taxas de quadros que não tenho informação da diferença entre essas gerações, e na verdade já tive PS4 mas a versão do PS3 me agrada aos olhos e vi que a arte in game é mais atraente.

The enw characcter versions on PS4 have more polygons on them, or it's just the textures? Anyway, they seems kinda strange compared with the PS3 version...
All they had to do was improve the damn graphics (CJ) It seems like SEGA took a misguided stab at "reimagining" almost all of the stages, to the point they barely look like their original selves, some of which look far worse artistically, IMO. And what's with the lightning/color saturation!? It's completely flat and sterile.
They honestly jacked up Akira and Jacky's face imo... Though Goh, Vanessa and Jeffery got the biggest visual improvement. Everyone else ranges from on par to great. Every single stage looks amazing in the new one, wish Dural's stage from FS came back though.
Somehow i like the older version better., the problem of the ps4 generation is that improved on textures and ilumination but lacked effects, on the ps3 and 360 generation there was more saturation of effects, the images were more "crowded" sort of speaking., i´m seeing that on the ps5 and series X the effects are back., saturation is better than emptyness

@@UmeSama2080 Maybe you don't remember, but if you run the disc version of VF5 on PS3 vs the digital version on PS4 you can clearly tell the difference. It really is night and day, so much that I could not get into the PS4 one. I went back to the PS3 just because of that.

@@zabustifu not really, the 32x was in the first 3d console. Don’t forget that virtua fighter 2 on the Saturn was in high resolution and 60fps, the best 3d fighting game on a 32 bit console ( even better than any ps1 game for the 3d in a fighting game).

Nowadays it is quite impossible to have this kind of gape, the main reason is the cpu and gpu limits ( you can’t go over 4.5ghz without amazing hydro fans, to much heating) so the graphics improves but we are near the perfection for the faces in a video game, therefore I am not impressed with a ps5 vs a ps4 for example. I was impressed between PS2 and PS3 for example but that was the last huge gape in my point of view.

The new version looks better in almost every way IMO. There's a bit of weird bloom effect in the old version but that was common back when the PS3 was popular. In some stages the colors look more natural (Sarah's stage) but in others they are more vibrant (Shun's stage). Most of the models look better on PS4 with some exceptions. I don't really agree with the direction they took Aoi ever since VF3 which is a little annoying as an Aoi main. Same goes for Lion. But I think everyone else looks better.
Stages look FAR more sparse on lighting, reflections, and stage details. Most, if not all of the artistic changes to the stages look worse than the PS3 original. Glad I bought the PS3 version on sale long ago. Paid like $5 for the complete edition.
They really messed up AKIRA's face, and a few other faces don't look anything like the like the originals, some noses are also messed up and bulky, in fact its a mixed bag.. I wonder who was contracted to make this remaster ? The Sand background looks terrible, as well, its a pass for me. Awaiting a real NEXT GEN Virtua Fighter.

in my opinion, the faces from the original game look way better. just look at akira, he looks awful in this new version. And i know the new version is using Dragon Engine from the latest yakuza, but damn the faces of this version look so... yakuza-ish.

Starting to get over the whole polish up a 10 year old game and charge full price for it again I got 5 for ps3 for $5 but couldn’t get into it really only ever enjoyed 3 . Should have just thrown the ps3 one on psn for $10

比較して見るとやっぱりシワとかリアルになって顔つきが変わってるからキャラによっては美形や不細工に見えてしまうのが難点かな、全体的に西洋っぽさが薄れて東洋っぽさが出てる気がする。だけどあくまでリメイクだし6の布石だと思ってるから次はドラゴンエンジンじゃなくてどの格闘ゲームでも適用してるアンリアルエンジンで作ってほしいな。とにかく現状の最終目標は6が出ること、セガには頑張ってもらいたい。

I don't really agree with the direction they took Aoi ever since VF3 which is a little annoying as an Aoi main. Same goes for Lion. But I think everyone else looks better.

Stages look FAR more sparse on lighting, reflections, and stage details. Most, if not all of the artistic changes to the stages look worse than the PS3 original. Glad I bought the PS3 version on sale long ago. Paid like $5 for the complete edition.
Why is everyone so Dramatic
They really messed up AKIRA's face, and a few other faces don't look anything like the like the originals, some noses are also messed up and bulky, in fact its a mixed bag.. I wonder who was contracted to make this remaster ? The Sand background looks terrible, as well, its a pass for me. Awaiting a real NEXT GEN Virtua Fighter.
I prefer the newer model of Akira. He looks more japanese in this version. The nose is more rounded, he has a less chiseled chin (less Chad jawline), he definitely looks more asian than western now.
@@aluisiofsjr I don't think that martial artists who get regularly punched can sport the Micheal Jackson nose that everyone had on ps3 😀

in my opinion, the faces from the original game look way better. just look at akira, he looks awful in this new version. And i know the new version is using Dragon Engine from the latest yakuza, but damn the faces of this version look so... yakuza-ish.

@@rodrigomomo4850 , pessoal tava reclamando dos novos modelos. Quando fui ver todos os modelos estão melhores, principalmente a Eillen, Sarah e o Goh (a boca dele está menos com o sorriso do Coringa). Única coisa que pode se discutir é sobre a direção artística dos cenários, mas os personagens nem tem como argumentar.

Starting to get over the whole polish up a 10 year old game and charge full price for it again I got 5 for ps3 for $5 but couldn’t get into it really only ever enjoyed 3 . Should have just thrown the ps3 one on psn for $10

I think everything looks way better in the new one, the only thing missing are reflections.
people are so stupid,they bash the game for the wrong reasons,they talk about graphics,the new models are much better in comparison to the older ones,the problem here is the facial features looks foreign to the older ones that we used to,that makes them feel that vfus is worst,also the lighting is better in the new one,more realistic,the old lighting along with the low polygons and less texture model made characters look plastic.Take a look at this 3:17,you must be blind if you believe that the older edition looks better
