    I love watching this.
    Dreams are important.
    It means that we want more of life and that's healthy.
    To me this is like listening to someone who's standard is Oban, Macallan, Ardbeg, Lagavulin..
    And I'm drinking:

    I just sold my b&w 702 s2 and replaced it with the SF EA 2 as the synergy with chord Dave/Etude/mscaler. SF fit finish and sound that brings you into the music and shows the money you are spending has me now wanting to get these eventually!

      I know it’s comparing bookshelf to towers, but do you miss the bw sound? I currently have the 705 signature and is looking to add either the Electra amator 3 or the olympica nova 1 to the stand mount collection. I’ve had various generations of bw 805, the original diamond 1 as my last pair. Looking for an alternative I guess.. tried the focal sopra 1 and it just wasn’t for me…

      @@andylee7679 very different. I’m coming from the other side as currently I have SF Olympica 1s, and looking to move to floorstanders. I tried some speakers at home incl. B&W 702 signature for a week. I really just didn’t get along with them (in my room and system), surprisingly they seemed to have less bass, and didn’t sound natural to me compared to SF, less emotion, bit fatiguing. I have had B&W before and liked them, but this experience has confirmed how much I like SF so I’ll be staying with the brand and looking to move up to floorstanding Novas in the future.

    I was too unexperienced and far too much under the hype of British audio press when first generation od Electa Amators were released. So, I sadly missed them in fvavour of some B&Ws. But I fell in love with Sonus faber look and feel and with that legendary sound created by late Franco Serblin First time I heard Extrema! Franco's successors at Arcugnano had their highs and lows during the last decade or so but with this third generation of Electa Amator they are probably on their best yet in Heritage series, in achieving that alluring musicality and beauty of sound that Franco Serblin was so passionate about !

    My listening room is small (4.5m x 3.5m x 2.1m), and I'm trying to determine if Electa or Minima Amator would perform best in that space and why (price isn't the issue).
    Pairing with Coda CSiB integrated amp, Audio Analogue AA DAC, and Melco streamer/server.
    Looking forward to your advice

      Hi Lauren, thanks for asking! Electa Amator III is capable of better bass vs the Minima Amator. Electra is spec'd at 40 Hz rolloff point, Minima is spec'd at 50 Hz. For you price is not the issue; thus Electa is your winner. Minima Amator is very good, but we know which one we'd pick! Please audition them yourself if you can. Very convincing review. Did you have the chance to compare with the Maxima Amators?

    • @GramophoneMD
      @GramophoneMD  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks Lama, there is a similar sound due to the family lineage. The Maxima is about 50% more money, and is a tower / floor stander, so there is more heft and solidity to the bottom end. But both are great products for the money, and both are gorgeous. We hope this helps

    Great review, you displayed subtle emotional cues that showed how much you personally and genuinely loved these speakers. Please help me decide which to buy, Olympica Nova I vs the Electa Amator III. Sonically, whats the difference and is it worth the upgrade? I listen to everything, from Jazz to EDM. Thanks.

    • @GramophoneMD
      @GramophoneMD  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you! Yeah, these are some of the greatest ever bookshelves. I'd say go with these unless you can go up to the Olympica Nova II which is a small tower. The Olympica Nova line works better as a three way if you ask me. Now then, that being said the Olympica is more flexible across genres, but that is certainly not to say that the Electa is bad at anything. Go for the Electa if you do more jazz or the Olympica if you do more EDM, but only if you consider the Olympica if you go for at least the II, otherwise grab the Electa.

    • @sleepyf1
      @sleepyf1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Much appreciated. Your view regarding the Olympica Nova II confirmed what I heard as well. The Nova I was a bit veiled, perhaps underwhelming and the Nova II definitely had more energy. I will go with the Electa. Many others like yourself have praised it and elevated it to "forever" status.

      @@sleepyf1 The Electa is the more unique speaker. It hits different. Something about the all hardwood walnut cabinet is just so special. Though I will say this. If the Maxima Amator is within your means...oh my goodness that speaker is pure FIRE! Cannot wait to get a pair in for a review.

    Hi fi means sound is perceived exactly as real musical happening. Then you confirmed that they are Hi FI. True Hi FI amp/speaker set will perform exactly as real instrument but must be driven from pure sampler, not from engineered complex recording Hiigh End audio is not required to do it. It only is supposed to have tech data and materials overriding those which are build reasonable and controlled by budget

    What do they sound like? What is a good room size? Subwoofer? Amplifier matching? Not sure what this was. Not a commercial or a review! People who can afford these want analysis. From this I won't audition l.

      Hello Gamer, we're sorry we fell short of your hopes. Amator III are so beautiful that it's easy to get mesmerized by them. They have excellent bass, surprisingly good for a bookshelf style speaker. But if you are in a larger room and / or like to crank it a bit, you will likely add a subwoofer, as roll-off is spec'd at 40 Hz. Amp-wise, at 88 dB sensitivity and 4 ohm impedance, they don't require a super-amp, but definitely benefit from better quality electronics. Please reach out to us at ask@gramophone.com if we can help further

    From "Gramophone" I would have expected a review. What we have here is a promotion, an advertisement plain and simple. What a waste of cyberspace. Real wood? Tell us about the resonances!

    • @GramophoneMD
      @GramophoneMD  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are solid walnut. We recently had a few gentlemen visit the factory in Italy and they can attest to that. Sonus Faber is very careful about selecting the wood used as generally it is difficult to make a loudspeaker out of hardwood due to resonances, however if a manufacturer can get it right it makes for a lovely sounding speaker.

      It's really not worth attempting to convey the sound of a very unique $10,000 speaker over TH-cam. One must hear it for themselves in person.
