    Another thing to remember is that environmental conditions can affect spitting. Having lived in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and Albuquerque since I started airbrushing I can tell you from personal experience that fixing spitting isn't always as easy as leaving an airline out, and the solution for one environment might not always work in another.

    • @harderairbrush
      @harderairbrush  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Christopher - excellent point - you are absolutely right. Environment does make a big difference. Our tip in this video does assume that you have a pressure regulator with a moisture filter on it ON the compressor. With that being the case, ensuring that your airline is always open ended each night will give you a successful system, no matter where you are. Without the filter on the compressor, yes, humid environments can overcome good practice. The tip is really aimed at people who suffer this problem and think that a moisture filter screwed to the airbrush will solve it - this tip solves that problem for free, rather than with a purchase :-)

    I had now a horrid experience with spitting. My nozzle had a partial clog. It redirected the stream slightly off of the middle path. This resulted in paint accumulating in the nozzle cap. When there was enough, it shot out at my model. Luckily I was basing it, but never had this issue before.
    Guys, make sure the gun is clean before packing away!

  • @musoseven8218

    Sage advice. Even for my little diaphragm compressor, I've a hose with an inline moisture trap - overkill? Maybe, but I don't want the heartbreak of ruined work💜✌️😉

    • @harderairbrush
      @harderairbrush  ปีที่แล้ว

      Inline is fine, if a little ineffective, typically. Do whatever makes you feel relaxed when you paint! But I can guarantee you that if you use our tip, you'll be better insured against the moisture issue.

    I have a Infinity CR Plus, Lately I have noticed that I am getting bubbles in the paint cup and intermittent or a pulsing of the paint spray. I thin my Tamiya paint 1:1 and usually spray at 15psi. After every use I clean the airbrush and use your method of back flow to get rid of any residual paint. My needle size 0.15mm. Thanks Ron

    • @harderairbrush
      @harderairbrush  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's likely that you need to just tighten the aircap up a little more. Sounds like you are not sealing the nozzle well. Check for any dirt on the face that the seal goes onto in the airbrush too. Make sure, when tightening the aircap, that the needle is withdrawn slightly. Finally, check your nozzle for any damage around the mouth. Hope that helps!

      If you have a QD on one side, just hang the hose with the QD at the topside. QD at both ends, then just fit the tail into one end, and have that as the lower end when you hang it.

    I have a moisture trap on both the compressor as well as at the airbrush hose where it meets the brush and I still get spitting. Its been a big PITA and do not know what else to do.

    • @harderairbrush
      @harderairbrush  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello Witchy! Please get rid of that airbrush filter, and just make sure that you leave your hose disconnected and open at both ends in between sessions. Make sure that you drain your airtank, if you have one, and your compressor moisture filter. Also, don't leave your compressor with pressure in it either. Typically, moisture coming through your line will be moisture that's dropped overnight as the air in the airline cools... you can totally prevent this by just taking the hose off, making sure that air can circulate freely through it, and hanging it over a door or something so that both ends are facing down. Give it a try and come back and let us know please! W

    Question: I have a moisture trap at both ends of my air hose. One at the compressor end, and another inline with my quick connect. Is this a viable tactic to prevent, or at least minimize moisture in the line?

    • @harderairbrush
      @harderairbrush  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ask yourself the question - how in the laws of physics could moisture form in a tiny volume airline over 2-3m in between two moisture filters? It really doesn't happen :-) Your second filter is not minimising moisture in the airline - it is only capturing the moisture that you are allowing to form in there by keeping your airline sealed at both ends whilst it cools down after use. Hope that helps!

    For me spitting happen when a bit of paint start pooling in the needle tip.
    Is this also caused by moisture?
    The problem persists even when I use new needles, and draining the compressor by the end of day.
    My temporary solution is to spray dry air into the booth before spraying the paint onto the part, and occasionally clean the needle tip with airbrush cleaning solution.

    • @harderairbrush
      @harderairbrush  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No that's not caused by moisture. If you have wet paint visible on your needle tip, it is either due to a cracked nozzle, or more likely your trigger technique. Push down, pull back, PUSH FORWARD, and only THEN stop pushing down. This is so that the air finishes last, after you have shut the paint, and cleans the needle tip. If you release the trigger before pushing it forward, it will always stop the air fractionally before the paint, on all airbrushes. Then in the last moment as your needle returns, it will push a little drop of paint onto the tip and leave it there unsprayed, waiting to ruin your day :-)

    • @harderairbrush

      Hey buddy! Almost certainly you just need to tighten the head slightly more. take off the end-piece, loosen the needle nut, pull the needle back 10mm, then tighten your head a little bit more - only with your fingers, but firm :-) then push the needle back, tighten the needle nut, and all should be good. If it is not, and you are certain that all parts are clean, then perhaps you have a small crack in your nozzle. Check this visually, and let me know. Thanks! W

    • @harderairbrush
      @harderairbrush  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey John - when you have an air tank, do bear in mind that you should drain this regularly too, for the same reasons. A quality compressor with an air tank will always incorporate a tank drain valve at the lowest point of the tank, for this purpose. At the end of every session is my recommendation.

    What is "Air consumption(Nl/min)" in some airbrush's description? I find some may have same consumption but different nozzle size.

    • @harderairbrush
      @harderairbrush  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You cannot detail air consumption without talking about pressure - just as a caution. The same way that compressor people love to talk about how many litres their compressor delivers, but don't say what pressure it is delivered at (what use is 20 litre at 0psi, for example)... However, to answer your question, l/min is an expression of how much volume of air is leaving the airbrush when you depress the trigger, in litres, per minute. You would expect a larger nozzle size to consume more air, but don't expect the same nozzles sizes across different brands to consume the same volume of air. Air consumption is, however, a great indicator of how fast the airbrush will lay down paint - more air consumption typically means the airbrush will spray faster. This is good for priming/ basing/ area coverage, not so good for detailing.
