    Very cool and in depth video. Will must be proud of his bro. You guys must be made from the same cloth. Need more humans like you guys.

    This is the first build a knife box I've purchased and I'm quite stoked to get to work on it. My knifemaking partner and I bought 3, one for each of us and one as a gift for a friend.

    The calipers are nice but I've been using a drill bit for years to scribe my center line.

    • @tpowfjb
      @tpowfjb 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      How does that work?

    • @kamelsr
      @kamelsr 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@tpowfjb you take a bit the same as the thickness of the metal. Laying the knife blank flat on the table use the tip of the bit run it along the edge. It will leave you a center line. Now grind just up to the line to achieve the bevel.

    Any problems getting these kits through customs/quarantine in Australia? The raw/untreated wood is the potential problem, even if it looks like it's in good condition.

    • @rosspeaksteelworks
      @rosspeaksteelworks 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The wood is stabilized, however customs can still be tricky

    • @cerealport2726
      @cerealport2726 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rosspeaksteelworks yes, australian quarantine is strict, but unless it's a clear violation, then their assessments are highly variable for wooden products unless they are painted or otherwise finished. fumigation costs for "raw" timber products are usually more than the item is worth

    Nice clean video. My only comments are that your on camera presence isn’t 100% natural. With a little more practice or a few more videos it won’t be noticeable at all. Also your talking is very one level inflection isn’t really changing much.

  • @lordgeorge40
    @lordgeorge40 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Honestly in my opinion most of the buyers for these kits are people that are barely trying to get into knife making maybe try explain a bit more and show more basic tools

    Dude u dont need a respitator just to sand something

    • @danielpaquette1597
      @danielpaquette1597 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, YOU don't need a respirator to sand something. Sure it a personal choice, but it is very much like smoking. Sure, you can smoke, but it not healthy. Same thing for sanding without a mask, sure you can do it, but it's not good for you. Some woods like purple heart, it just takes a few exposures to the dust, and then some people become allergic to it with strong reactions (but not everyone). I am just a garage maker, and I wear a mask for sanding metal or wood. If that was my regular job, I would wear a respirator. If I was setting an example on You Tube, I would wear a respirator.

    • @garrettboye4581
      @garrettboye4581 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      What an idiotic comment. Most sandpaper is aluminum oxide, which is a huge neuro toxin.
