considering how far up hornet is i feel like she would sense the void and just book it out of there, the deepest we've seen hornet go is the kingdoms edge, and there's no evidence to suggest that besides the fact that the vessel in greenpath is also propped up like this.
I considered him escaping the abyss and getting lost and confused, looking for the Pale King and Hollow Knight. Since he couldn't cross the massive spike pit on the right, He went down the Mawlurk path and got seriously injured, and decided to rest but was too weak to ever get up. I think his shade stayed in the body, Too scared to leave it thinking the Pale King would return with the Monarch Wings near. That's why when you first find it, Broken Vessel's eyes are black with void, but after his defeat, They're clear with nothing behind it
I like most of these ideas, but don't forget that ultimately, Vessels are still essentially bugs. The infectious presence in the area does well in foreshadowing the gameplay, but (as another pitched) even a falling rock could have done serious damage.
My theory is that the pale king initially took the broken vessel out to be a test to contain the radiance. it failed, and he was abandoned. after all, its the only vessel we see in the ancient basin, and not in deepnest (the possible other exit to the abyss) or in greenpath (where hornet guards). hornet never implies any other vessel passing her test.
i'm guessing because we never see any void attacks or shade inside that is what got out from the top so maybe someone took his shade/void but kept his "soul" [unwillingly] in the corpse because its the only vessel with a ghost
My theory is that he served the king, as he is slightly bigger than the average vessel, based off mossbags theory on why hollow knight is bigger, this could work out.
I read a theory that the broken vessel is the same as esmy , that sly talks about, the vessel uses the slash dash nail art , he is also grown , maybe the training had a part on it , and as the vessel went futher down he got injuried and perished in the ancient basin . Therefore the lost kin , can mean something else.
i like to imagine that the broken vessel escaped the abyss and was wandering around the basin, when a mawlek snuck up on him while he was walking, jumped up and gave his head one big chomp, dropping the corpse and leaving.
It's been a year but after completing the game and listening to your theory I remembered the birthplace scene. There were lots of vessels who have fallen down while trying to jump up and save themselves. The fall could easily crack the shell, but vessels don't feel pain thanks to void. It has failed just as The Knight, and it managed to escape after The Hollow Knight was chosen. They were likely to find a way to find a way to the king who was standing above the abyss pit earlier. But even this vessel was proven to be impure and was consumed by infection. It could easily have been the second replacement for HK if it hadn't been stuck in Ancient Basin.

If minigun then that's easy If down dash then just walk away for 3 steps After he performed or while performs attack its quite easy to stab him multiple times I beaten mantis lords on second attack
@@GlyphidGuard My frame rate is basically a PowerPoint presentation so that might have something to do with it if I’m being honest, and I accidentally found the mantis lords as the 4th boss and didn’t read the “challenge” text so I just thought they were going to be passive or something 😬 It took maybe 3-4 tries, idk I think I’m just bad at this game

Hear me out , Ogrim killed broken vessel. Its shell looks like it was broken by a blunt force and I'm assuming that it was ogrim considering his loyalty to the king and the fact that he knew about a vessel other than the light (when his dream nail dialogue reads :"so there were OTHERS?." . plus i think it reaching out once killed could be its last thought when orgim killed in in front of its mother/father .

That’s very true. Falling stalactites do actually damage the Knight in-game, after all.

Hornet has been seen cracking into skulls; so she probably killed it like she kills (or tries to kill) all the other Vessels.

so the vessel must have 4 horns instead of 3.
