- Stagg do three versions of tinned chili con carne; dynamite, classic, and vegetable. I've tried the dynamite and vegetable versions, so today it's the turn of the classic...

They've definitely toned town the Dynamite one, used to be blistering 7/8 years back. Still hot but no where near the levels it once was. Always good to have one of this tins in the cupboard
I tried the dynamite one in 2022 and I thought it wasn't hot, pity I didn't try one from eight years ago!
Yeah I tried the dynamite one probably 6 or 7 years ago and struggled to finish it as it was so hot, and I really like hot spicy food. The version you get now is very tame by comparison.
Delightful looking quality with a dark rich colour. Put into a couple of wraps and a touch of parmesan and you will have a good filling meal.👍
My boy would enjoy that Uncle, I'll let him know :)
My go to for a tin of chill con carne, always handy to have a couple of tins in the cupboard. It's £2-25 in Sainsbury's, sometimes £1-80 when on special offer.
I'm the same, always have a couple in, and thanks for letting me know about the Sainsbury's price.
The best chilli in a tin
I reckon it's my favourite too
Hi Papp.
Stagg! Not quite Triumph-antl.
Lucky buggers you still get the beef. We Aussies only get 'pork' now.
The 'Red Hot Gristle Grippers' that make the import of beef rules put a stop to the beef variety. We also used to have the classic in chicken, but again this too is now pork. The veg got the boot too
So now we have Insanely Hot🔥, Dynamite Hot 🌶️🌶️ and Classic 🌶️.
I still have a few cans of chicken, veg and a beef ccc in the larder.
Bought them before convid.
One thing I recommend is not to eat this after 'Staggering' home with a skin full.
Reflux special! 😣
Cheers John 👍🤤😀
Hahaa, nice one John, wish I'd thought to say after staggering home! I too still have some tins that predate the bs, the old use and replace is in full swing ;)
You could actually put some Red Hot chilli peppers in that, good band love it
I agree, great band, very talented :)
Good morning x on this beautiful day x lovely hearing you ❤ play. I must say the dynamite chili is go to, when I really don't fancy what everybody, else wants for tea. Got to say, it's a boon, for me. X have a good weekend. God bless you and keep you ❤
Miss Dream, the dynamite chili is my go to as well, lovely isn't it. Make it a great day :)
Yeah I have to say Pap that out of all the tinned chili con carnie's out there i've tried this is hands down the best one, and it's nice to see you getting round to reviewing it at last, I myself must get re-involved too as it's been a while since I had one of these last!
Stagg is my favourite meat chilli too Mr Atkinson, thank you for reminding me to finish the set :)
@@Papparoni no worries, you're welcome! 😊
These Stagg chilli’s are the best canned meals I’ve tried to date.
Asda do them on promo every now & then and I’m sure they were £1.50 a tin last time I got some in?
I'd say £1.50 is worth it all day long as regards these things mate, top chilli.
Now these I rate highly, the dynamite chilli is the best, great value and tasty.
I like it too, please do feel free to see...

I had the hot one years ago, and it did pack a punch. I’ll try this one when shopping next.
Go for it Barry, I'm confident you'll deal with the very mild heat in this one.
Papa Great you are making me want to move back to the UK these are 350 baht in Thailand over £8
Crikey that's all the money Jay, see you at Heathrow soon!
However good it was, it still needed the Papp Pimp.
Agree with you about the rapeseed oil. However, in a home-made dish of chilli, I would probably add something sweet to balance the acidity of the fresh/tinned tomatoes. Probably ketchup, though, not sugar.✌
Nice one Mat. Best sugar free ketchup out there is by Mr Organic, and it tastes amazing, my go to ketchup ;)
Nice over a jacket spud, reminded me to try the Dynamite one 👍
Get those boots filled Lynne :)
I do like the title of this can. I hope it is as good as it sounds / Ahhh - classic tune, and well played mate! / OK - first impression in the bowl, that looks really lush !! / Oh yes, this is added to list, well impressed. Mark.
Cheers mate, my boy plays that tune on his bass, and I love it! :)
Another great tune. One of the few 'modern' bands that I like. Even though this song is probably about 20 years old 😅. Anything after 1990 is modern in my book 😅
Hahaa. me too, as I was a mere 18 in 1990 :)
@@Papparoni me too! All the coolest people must have been born in 1972😅
I've been thinking about making chilli con carne lately, got to make my own though I love kidney beans but my digestive system not so much! I swap them out for fresh beans, when I can get them, or rose coco beans. Yes, a bit of grated cheddar, takes it to the next level.
Just looked rosecoco beans up Ms Ms as I'd never heard of them and they sound like a top alternative :)
@@PapparoniYes they are lovely. My mum knows people with allotments, later on in the year, we get the fresh beans from them and freeze them, they are top tier.
Love it :)
Best zombie apocalypse food is canned chilli! I doubt we're going to have zombies anytime soon. I do love canned chilli on a lazy night, throw in some Uncle Ben's microwave rice & bish bash bosh it's done :)
No messing nice one Ashleigh, zombie apocalypse I reckon one to two years from now ;)
@@Papparoni the way the world is nowadays we might end up in a nuke situation lol 🤣
All pre-planned Ashleigh :D
@@Papparoni Yep ;) x
That's another one i always have in the cupboard 😋
Same here :)
Hey brother. I am here with coffee in hand and ready for the shenanigans and alliteration to begin!! 🎹🎹🎵🎵.. Love it. I live in Texas where Chili is very popular. This one looks rich and hearty. --- So much stroking and caressing of those beans. :-) Let's see if you like it. LOL.. Your face has me chuckling. I enjoyed this as usual brother. Sandee
You do make me smile sister. As for those beans, they needed some loving :)
That's also lovely with some basmati rice ! 😋
Too right it would mate :)
Totally agree.
Staggering review, my friend👍
Oh deer! :D
@@Papparoni POP's don't mince their words, Papps. It would've been Rudolph me to do so. That looked ok for a coupla bucks, especially when the weather's inclement and it looks like reindeer. Having said that, it's easy to get caught on the horns of dilemma and think on the hoof....your turn...sleigh me😉😁👍!.
I can't compete with that mate, spectacular! :D
Another top notch review on this Stagg Chilli - I like them a lot and usually get one while out and about ! have you tried the Dynamite Stagg ? have a great Saturday mate :-)
Cheers mate, and yes, I've tried all three, feel free to see what I thought of the dynamite...
th-cam.com/video/EGinPdFRBAM/w-d-xo.html
Oh Yes
Looks like Ludwig was rather intrigued by that Red Hot Chili Peppers groove...
Oh he was all over it Milos, whilst Amadeus taught Stormzy how to play it :)
@@Papparoni Obviously Trail of Dead would be Ludwig's favourite band if he were alive today, just check out 'The Rest Will Follow', it's pure Beethoven. 🎵
@@FossaBooks Sounds like the stuff my sister used to listen to, he was nodding along!
@@Papparoni
They get a bit Tchaikovskyesque sometimes too. I think they were probably tought classical music as kids, but decided to be a rock band instead...
Sounds that way yes. The keyboard player from the Stranglers was classically trained as well :)
Always have a few of these in the cupboard, Tesco don’t seem to do the dynamite version any more sadly. Handy for quick chilli and chips or on nachos and for a tinned chilli I think the quality is actually fairly decent.
I agree Mark, a very decent can of chilli, I'd like it on a baked potato with some sour cream.
@@Papparoni Yes had it on a jacket with some cheese many times, can’t go wrong
The King of canned chilis...the hot version one nearly melted my tongue off...yes I am a wuss. Top job Pap
Cheers mate, I remember the dynamite one, my only complaint was that it wasn't hot enough!
Love rhis chilli its amazing with some grated cheese
I agree Bluebird, the cheese works wonders
Their classic and veg ones , i liked , their dynamite ..... wow lol too hot for me
We all have our heat levels eh Chris, the dynamite one is just about my favourite althogh I'd like more heat in it.
I always go for the veggie version as I'm a bit scared of that 'meat'.. but yeah solid review as always, thanks!
Cheers D W, personally I'm not so keen on their veg one, goes to show what's good for one isn't necessarily good for another :)
That was before i heard mind
After homemade or restaurant this is definitely the best canned chilli 🌶 especially the dynamite hot but it does need pimping up I have had thee is another canned chilli made by Grant's that has great reviews but I have yet to find it but it is supposed to be very good and they do many varieties including chicken and pork. Maybe you need to put your cape on and deer stalker hat on and do a bit of Sherlock Holmes work for us 👍👍🌶🌶🕵🕵
I've never seen those Robert but I need to. I see they are a Scottish company so maybe a trip up north to stock up... :)
Good Chilli...
Indeed so weerobot
The Asda smart price/essentials chilli in a tin is now a whopping £1.85 I'm glad I stocked up when it was 53p 18 months ago!
Good move Frankie ;)
It's a real proper chilli con carne it's tasty
Indeed I like them
Might be nice in a back potato but i dont like kidney beans
Indeed chilli works so well on a baked spud Ross
Stagg on toast seldom fails ....(or crumpets) ....
On crumpets, never thought of that, sounds good.
On toast Definitely never fails.
With white basmati rice is a nice alternative.
Is this your best ever chilli 🌶️?
I reckon this and the dynamite ones are my favourite canned chillis :)
Too expensive for me but Iceland do an ownbrand version of this, frozen with a portion of rice for £2.50, 400g, which puts into perspective how ridiculously overpriced Iceland is.
Indeed Iceland have been getting worse pricewise for a while now.
Had this with uncle Ben's spicy rice lol 👍
What haven't you had with Uncle Ben's rice Sarah :D
@@Papparoni ravioli or pasta.. yet lol
Hahaa!
@@Papparoni lol
I used to buy that stuff a lot then the price got silly not had any for ages it's cheapest in Asda £2 a time there at the moment it's made by Hormel the people that make spam which also got silly price wise but never mind think I will lash out and get a couple of tins still half the price of the chunky chicken from the robbing M & S
Yeah that chunky chicken put me into septic shock over the price.
Good point regarding getting two of these for one M&S can Ladd, and I'm glad I got a load of Spam in whilst it was cheap ;)
Why is rapeseed oil filthy?
Too many reasons Ian, have a look into it...
looks nice , But i rather have beef ,
The meat in this chilli is beef Malcolm :)
Oh i thought it was venison 😙
:)
Dynamite one is much better.
I lke them both, please feel free to see...
th-cam.com/video/EGinPdFRBAM/w-d-xo.html
@@Papparoni I must have missed that one haha
:)
Better than m@s chilli con carne do you think. 🤔
Not sure I've tried that one yet :)
@@Papparoni sure you will at some point 👌
Oh yes...
BARF. I really hate canned chili. As an American, no such thing (in my opinion) as good canned chili.
Made me chuckle, shame you can't try this one :)
Nowhere near hot enough for me
I find that even the dynamite version isn't hot enough
That would've probably gone down very nicely with a Cheesy Garlic Bread Baguette Papp... 🧀🧄🥖😋 Yum!... I daren't buy anymore tinned stuff at the moment my friend... As i definitely need to start using up some of my tinned stash... Rather than them just gathering dust... I know that they'll still be okay to eat... Even after their use by date printed on the tin has expired... They're simply taking up far too much room at the moment... If some of them are getting close to their use by date... And I've already tried them before from purchasing a multi pack... And they weren't really one of my favourite items... Then I'll box some of them up... And donate them to my local food bank... They might as well be used by those in need... Rather than them gathering dust in the cupboards again... Many thanks for the review Papp... It's very much appreciated my friend... All the very best... Cheers mate. 🍺
Great that you donate to food banks mate, and with some tins, use and replace. Oh and the cheesy garlic bread suggestion has got my mouth watering :)
