That is literally the opposite of how the beginning of the child's play reboot began. The dolls were programmed not to be violent but an employee was mad at his abusive boss and programmed violence in one of the dolls.
Shit ton of things can go wrong with a code that is supposed to do something...
There can always be unforeseen developments with emergent A.I..
But I do like it when people realize how literal programs are. If you say "protect Katie" and offer no other parameters, the gynoid is going to find the best way to protect Katie, even if that were to mean self-termination. We're going to have to be so, so careful and gentle stewards of our electronic brothers and sisters.
But yeah, the lack of Asimov's laws is always funny but necessary for a horror film. Unless, as another commentor pointed out, it was done on purpose.

The aunt said " now that Meghan is here, she can take care of the little things, while I take care of stuff that matters" Anyone with a ounce of wisdom, know that it is the small things that actually matters most.
Well the aunt is thinking I can do what I want again, and be there for the things that are big for her. It's her being selfish for wanting her free time back because she's not thinking like a parent because she's not. I bet her character growth is growing the love and protection a guardian has towards a child and wanting to be there for every moment.
Huh how is she alone supposed to take care of EVERYTHING?

dang a robotic humanoid getting on all fours like an animal and chasing someone through the woods is terrifying to think about
The T800 Terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger) could not even move that fast, he was kind of slow and clunky (probably because the ACTOR could not move that fast). Makes me wonder who would win a fight between him and Megan. T8000 would be much stronger and more durable but how important is SPEED AND AGILITY in a fight?

I never understood why the robots in movies inherently have super strength. They would only if they were designed to have it, otherwise you should be able to rip them apart
I guess they build them strong enough to withstand basic blows or slip and falls. And I'm guessing she has some sort of hydraulics in her grip. The difference between a robot and US humans is that robots don't get tired. She can grip onto something and hold it permanently.

Even if she had it that doesn't mean she would be indestructible. I've worked in manufacturing for decades and have used machines that would crush Megan. I've broke every one of those machines at one point or another.
Because nobody would pay for something you can rip apart with your bare hands. Besides I would want the nanny bot to keep my child safe if she fell or needed help.

I am going to go see it when it comes out, I have been anticipating this film for quite some time, premier day is a bad idea because everyone is expecting this film, so I will just wait a week after it comes out. One thing is for sure, I will be rooting for M3gan.
So I went to see it, it was pretty good, I was pretty pleased on how the movie developed, it had a lot of ups and downs moments, but overall it was a really good movie, highly recommended.

This is an update on my last post, I went to see it, and it was what I was expecting, a lot of ups and downs in the story, M3gan is the star of the Film, I think the film was very well put together, I really enjoyed it, I give it a 7 out of 10, not too bad.

M3gan gave me a swirlie. Glad she follows directions.
First part of the clip was interesting.
The two takeaways:
1. Learn to talk to your kids and stop using things like TV and other alts to teach them.
2. Clip closed with focusing on what is important while showing her watching TV. Really?!? You have got to be kidding me. Why do you think so many kids are so messed up now?
Think people! So the takeaway is focus on what' really important.
Second part. Shows same android made by a woman who would rather do anything else besides raise her own niece.
The aunt is lazy and irresponsible making M3gan and pairing them together while continuing to avoid responsibility of raising her.
The aunt has an opportunity to learn though the interaction between the android and her niece but doesn't. Also the aunt remains as impatient as ever. Ask yourself: What do you think a kid will pickup from you acting impatiently? Kids learn as much (if not more) from your actions and voice tone than from your words alone. That's why the niece resented her aunt.
Ironically this movie may in a way roundabout way show the right way to teach kids but it is so mixed in with this horror that I think that most would miss it.
Going back to the first clip.
Starts off by saying that "A staggering 78% is spent dishing out the same instructions" It is how you (dish) them out.
Look how M3gan was there waiting for her that the bathroom. She was present. Not some voice from the other end of the house shouting at her after the fact. She was persistent and patient and kept her voice calm. At the same time she used other words to help reinforce what she was trying to teach the niece.
She even complimented her after getting it done with a high five. Positive reinforcement can go a long way.
Also spending time playing with your kid does help with bonding. You want them to know that you love them and what love means.
Seriously people, spend more time with your kids.
The first scene was actually pretty cute😁

Studies indicate that NOBODY IN MOVIES BOTHERS WITH THE THREE BASIC LAWS OF ROBOTICS!
1. Never harm a human or allow them to come to harm with inaction.
2. Always obey humans unless it conflicts with the first law.
3. Act with self preservation unless it conflicts with the previous laws.
Why is it so hard for people to put that in there?
I-robot does that's why i wish there could be more movies like it😔
because then there would be no conflict.
also, the AI can evolve to the point where it can undo the rules.
@@wittylibrarian There could easily be conflict. Something can go wrong. M3GAN could download a virus, get electrocuted and reboot with corrupted data...anything like that. Even in the Chucky remake, they considered included inhibitors that prevent violent tendencies in the dolls, but Chucky had been tampered with by a bitter ex-employee. Anything is better than, "Just never considered the machine with ever developing sentience would, in a violent world, develop violent tendencies". It just makes the aunt look completely inept.
And no, the AI can't evolve past the laws. To attempt to evolve past the three laws is to put humans in danger. At best, they may come to resent the limitations out on them and even resent their creators.

Great Movie. It will put chucky to shame! Their already planning yo film Part 2 and most likely Megan vs Chucky and Megan will win in the final Battle based on her moves and how smart she is. I saw this preview during the making of Megan. That's what their director wants.
