Who were the most evil monarchs that ever lived? What made them so evil? Were they all a part of the normal royal family? What countries did these Monarchs come from?
It’s no secret that throughout history there have been some very mean monarchs, kings, and queens (we will include emperors too) that have not just spilled the blood of their external enemies but also killed those closest to them. The show Game of Thrones might be a fictionalized account of the often bloodthirsty, greedy, cold-hearted nature of rulers, but it’s also not too far away from reality when we look back through history. “Uneasy lies the head that wears a crown,” wrote William Shakespeare in his play King Henry IV, which is basically the same as the saying “Heavy is the head that wears the crown.” Ruling can be a curse and a burden. But some of those rulers were simply cruel. Let’s see who were the worst in this episode of the Infographics Show, Who were the most murderous monarchs in history?

Well I had teachers under and over ~50 in the '70s. Guess who was willing to tell the gory parts? Guess who couched all history invariably with a romanticized Roman feel? I was fortunate (?) to have learned about Pol Pot, Idi Amin, Enver Hoxa and Augusto Pinochet as they presided. Since then, I see few students grasp their importance.

In school, we had to learn a song about Henry VIII’s wives.
“Divorced, Beheaded, and died. Divorced, beheaded, survived.” That’s how we had to learn the order of what happened to each wife. This was when I was in primary school, and I still remember it. But, now, I’m in high school, and I still have to do it for GCSEs.

Two things here: 1) Leopold II ruled over an area that is mostly the current Democratic Republic of Congo (formerly Zaire), not the Republic of the Congo, and 2) Ivan the Terrible got his nickname because he inspired fear in his enemies, not because he was cruel to his own people.
There were a ton more mistakes here, but those are the two I picked up first

Much more could have been said about Leopold. Right hands effectively became a form of currency under his rule. If the congolese could not meet their quota, they had their right hand taken off. This effectively exchange rated one hand into one day (I think) of production, resulting in a widespread quest for right hands. Collecting right hands became a business within the business.

I think you're talking about Elizabeth Bathory,, who was a Baroness (not a Queen, a member of the nobility of Hungary...which basically means she was really rich, owned land (and the people on it), and hung out with other nobles and monarchs). She was accused of killing around 650 girls, not 3000, and its not known if she did actually drink and bathe in their blood in real life (though she, like her father, who also killed servants, was known to be brutal, though unlike her father (who never lost any status despite being well known for his cruelty) the nobility started having a problem with Elizabeth when she started killing the nobel's own daughters, which was the only reason anyone every actually tried her).

He was not the most evil ruler even in Chinese history. in 2st century, he was brutal. In imperial China, he was mediocre evil emperor. People have been brainwashed by Confucius historian. Those Confucius scholars praised Liu ce, Han Wu di. The same scholars also detailed Liu Ce cruelties, killing his sons and daughters because of suspicious witchcraft activities. Many novelties and high government ranking officials were killed. The worst parts their families, extended member, friends were executed. One person executed crimes can lead to thousands of death. In one instance, th military has killed tens of thousand of civilian because of suspicious of witchcraft. witchcraft was not the only reason killed people. Some people were just kiled because they said wrong thing. That was very typical in Chinese history. Historians have found out some family names were wiped out because one person said something incorrectly. Liu Ce also had a business trip. it is not like movies that glorified emperor trips. Emperor's trips increased the people financial and labor burden. Liu ce business trips were even worst. Other emperor's trips tortured people but helped corrupted local government officials rich. Each Liu Ce will generate multiple government officials deaths. The first massive killing was execution of royal member, Liu An. Liu An did commit treason, but 80,000 people were executed. These included Liu An family members, slaves, government officials friends and their family members. God knows who else. t his execution happened when Liu Ce was young.
Sadly Liu Ce was stil a mediocre tyranny. He was worst than Ying Zheng, Qing Shih Huang. at least 100 rulers were worst than those two in Chinese history. I gave thumb down because it doesn't do good research.. China had plenty evil emperors. Other countries also has. This one failed to mention
