Thanks for this informative pipe sizing video. How we can get Carrier Friction Loss Chart and McQuay Software. Please provide link.

How to determine the pipe material for the flow in chilled water network?

Normally we use black steel pipe for air-conditioning chilled water piping.

@@ncengineeringtechnology3376 could you clarify what type of connections used for different sizes of CHW pipes? like threaded pipe for upto what dia? flange for upto what dia?, similarly for welded?

@@AnandKumar-yt9ml up to 2" threaded, 21/2" to 10" grooved coupling joint 12" & above welded joints,
Flange are used with HVAC equipment/accessories having Flange connections.
It is the normal practice for chilled water piping for standard projects,
You can use any type of joint but condition is it must withstand with pressure inside the CHW piping.

thank you for the useful tutorial but can you please explain to me on what basis you selected 10 F chilled water temperature difference ?

    • @reliableengineeringsolutio8890

It is the difference between chiller CHW supply and CHW return temperature.

@@reliableengineeringsolutio8890: i think he is asking why temperature difference is 10 F and not 15 F or else. Is that always the case for chilled water coils regardless of capacity?

Normally chilled water system is designed with temperature differences 10 F, as the temperature difference increases required chilled water flow decreases.
As per standard practice followed by manufacturer, temperature difference up to 16 F can be selected, if required.
