Thanks Nick! Yes, hiss is normal. On the original, is like 5 times "worse", as in, stronger hiss. We were able to take a lot of it out. It's - basically - the compressor.
Man, I had no idea late '70s Super Leads sounded this good on their own. I mean, I know AC/DC used them, but for some reason you don't see them around very often and they don't sell for a lot. Pretty good amps.
+gtamodman122 Wow it's been a few years I hadn't rechecked this video of mine. Thanks for watching. 4 years have gone by. Yes, some Marshall amps sounded amazing. I personally still use them and it's all I use; I don't want any other type of amplifier. I think they're still the best. The main reason why few people use them is because they are loud and hard to keep at low volumes while still sounding great.
+SoloDallas time does indeed go by, it seemed like yesterday when the Schaffer replica was still brand new :P and yes, those old Marshalls appear to be unequaled even today, and it really seems weird that these "late" SLs don't get the love they deserve. I don't think it's the volume that turns people away from these, they just seem to favor earlier metal-panels and plexis more, for reasons unknown. But as long as your videos exist, you show their full glory to the world!
+gtamodman122 Ahhh now I get your point. Thought you were speaking more generically, instead you were really onto the 1976 (mid to late 1970s) super leads. Indeed! And I think your analysis is spot on. Thanks for watching brother.
Hey Fil, I love the replica, and I agree with you that Angus's tone has stayed the same since he started using the Schaffer Vega and after. I was looking at pictures of back stage during the last tour, and I saw something interesting. Angus uses a basic wireless unit that runs into a little preamp box called the Avalon Ultra Five Direct box. The Avalon has a boost and tone knob, and he using that to boost his 4 Super leads and 2 JTM 45's.
Yes Phil :) With variying degrees of what you described really, depending on settings of replica. In the video, we left compressor at 3/4th and boost at 1 o' clock: implying that - for example - the boost can be outrageously stronger than what shown here. I was basically re-playing the same sound I played on the recent Back in Black cover, AC/DC (Angus) "Back in Black" tone, so to say :-)
hey man i know this an old video. first of all thanks for ur amazing work for acdc community i bought the schaffer replica pedal and it's very good i would like to ask how to use it, i noticed u put the knobs on 12 o'clock or 1 o'clock is that the right settings for it ? thanks :)
First off, let me thank you for supporting us with purchasing our product! Now, usage depends on several aspects. My suggestion is to blast the INPUT (left knob) all the way up and then, find a variable spot that satisfies you as the output. Usually, the 12 o'clock to 1 o' clock position lets the pedal do its work, adding everything it has to add (tone shaping, volume and sustain) without overdoing its effect on a given amplifier. I have however blasted both IN and OUT multiple times, especially live, with great results (then regulating the total tone/output from the guitar's controls). EXPERIMENT with your amplifier; you can both go for very mild settings to extreme settings and see where this takes you. Experimentation is one of the most fun things to do with these tools in fact, and be assured that you can't damage your amplifier with out product. If you need us, post on one of our videos and I'll be with you again. Thanks again, Fil SD
FIL ! you definitely "living" your dreams now my friend and you're absolutely f*ckn great ! you made that sound box finally, selling it and now i'm telling you that you "must" try the sound of the pedal with another setups and make videos of them to create a huge introduction and make the sell grow around the world. This pedal has the potential of being a "must" pedal in the boards like ts808 tubescreamer.I'm writing from Zonguldak-Turkey!and me and my friends are going to buy one of these someday
Hi, thank you. Sorry I don't understand: sounds the same as... what? As the original SVDS you mean? OR you mean that unit on/std by sounds different? It HAS to sound different with the unit on! :-) Anyway. We plan on selling these units online first, at our site. Then, optionally, agreements with certain retailers will be welcome. You can preorder yours right now if you want.
Are we viewing a memory from the pre-cogs in Minority Report? What is up with the camera/video? haha. Love the product. World's best device for guitar. So complementary to a plexi.
Disaster. It was a disaster that video (as many others) I just tried to slap it together at best. Unfortunately, camera man at the time was almost blind and deaf (I'm serious) - but a great friend. So, he didn't focus. I was the usual clumsy Mr. Bean you know... so put all those factors together and what do you get? Solo-Dallas. Ciao, mate! ;)
Awesome tone FIl! I'm looking to buy a 4x12 and am having some trouble deciding which set of speakers to get. Are the G12-65s going to get me the closest to the back in black album? How do your G12-65s compare to your Pre-Rola G12Ms?
I tried my stack and cranked it a day ago late, i have an SG VoS guitar with Angus pickup and allthough it's not 50s wired i tried it cranked to about 7-8 on master with preamp on 8 on the 2203 JMP 100 watt amp full stack, and i also used a clean boost, for some reason it doesn't at all sound that raw and powerfull and great on the solo part even though i had volume knob full on and boosted, i know the Vega adds to it but when trying solos it still sounded.. ''weak'' or something. Any ideas?
Hey man, I was able to hear some differences and it almost sounded the same but not exact in tone. When are you going to sell this wireless system through GuitarCenter, Sweetwater, ZZsound, SamAsh, Amazon and etc??? Peace, Flood!
Well, the Vega has a compressor as well as a boost in the circuit, so you probably need a compressor to go with your clean boost. Try different EQ settings as well. Try: Treble 8 Bass 8 Middle 6 Presence 0
WARNING: Do not watch this video in quiet places like a library. Even with my headphones in I just about jumped out of my chair giggling like that little girl. Now I cant stop smiling :D Im sure I look like an idiot just sitting here, grinning ear to ear.
Or didn't at all sounded as ''raw'' or like your amp did in this video or similar in sense like it sounds in how you hear it from your video, is it affected due to being recorded like you do it in your video or anything? I don't know if the tone sounds different through a video but at least it was much louder when i tried some day ago, you could literaly feel the room shake and i didn't use an attenuator. Just curius if it's something wrong with my amp or if it sounds different on video or so.
Thanks Nick! Yes, hiss is normal. On the original, is like 5 times "worse", as in, stronger hiss. We were able to take a lot of it out. It's - basically - the compressor.
This video is awesome man! Been watching your videos since the original solodallas account and it's great to see how far you've come since then.

It sounds really great.
I would like to hear it with full boost on the system and other various settings.

Sounds amazing, especially on the solo. I hate to beg you Fil, but any word on the pedal version?

mids are super sharp
V interesting Fil! You can definitely hear the difference. Softened the attack (comp?) and creamed up the amp a touch (boost?)
It sure had character
BLOWED MY MIND.
Awesome as always!
Nice job!

WOW that sounded great!!!!!! FIll, is the hiss normal when the unit is on?
Is it a clean booster sounding effect ?
good stuff Fil

No mate, I wish! It's Chris' own studio, which he partialli modeled after my Studio58a :)
Copyrights are a serious thing (and I have avoided them several times). My BinB video is now available - not blocked - on our site. Please come watch!

Funnily enough, that's exactly what I did today. Video will be out tomorrow. You will NOT be disappointed, believe me.
Hey Fil, is that the old studio?

Yes, and sounded great. But this one sounds pretty well too :)
Nice! I'm curious, have you ever tried it on other amps? Eg Vox AC30 or Mesa Boogie Mark IV?
Fil I'm not sure if I understood right but was the 1959 set the same as in your Back in Black cover as well as the boost?
Sorry buddy, late reply: YES. Same amp, guitar and settings.
Hey Fil! Please make a cover of Ac/dc - big gun :)
Oh Ang you would mate, especially if it was YOU YOU. Oh I SO wish it was you for real. Love, Fil!
With out digital muting ALL pickups produce this except in reverse polarity where one pickup is out of phase to the other (*a la peter green*)
where can i buy this?
because of the fucking GEMA in Germany i couldn´t watch your new back in black video -.-
but i´m sure it sounds great like all your other videos!!
:)
I am sending a comando unit of average guitar players armed with cheap chinese gibsons to raid your compound and procure this tecknology.
GREAT SOUND*******555555
Has that to be used between guitar and input, or in the loop?
Piereligio, both ways - but guitar and amp input preferred
Yep. SoloDallas, you are great. Discovering that u are italian like me, made me proud ahahha
Piereligio Di Sante Grazie!
I need it :DDD NOW
giggling like *a little girl
Omer: THANKS! That's EXACTLY what I am about to do. Show them on a WIDE variety of amps (some of them I did already). Thanks! Fil
