Shorty when u pitched that shit down...that sounded like something That Rza from Wu-Tang Clan would use...(minus the trap drums) shit goes hard!
You look at the snares. Cut it at the first snare, put it where the snare should be(usually on the 3, right), then stretch the sample until all the snares are hitting on the right beat. Boom, done.

One thing that could help you for the 1st beat:
A lot of old Soul songs like that are in the 12/8 time signature, so that's why it can be harder to find the bpm when your session is set to 4/4!
Or just chop it up into 4/4 and go crazy with it

Super unlucky that the sample you chose was in a 12/8 time signature. That's probably why you found it so hard to calculate the bpm. It's a triplet style rhythm.

I'm surprised you didnt use serato sample to find the bpm or chop i typically use it for easy bpm find and key useful

When I always sample I usually use tunebat which finds the bpm and the scale of the beat, it is very useful and works 100%

Imo one of the most underutilized features in FL studio? Native (simple, direct) noteslide. Also, hosting FL studio in Reaper. Dropping like 4 octaves on a Hellraiser.

And if my snare trick doesn't work, that probably means the sample is in a weird time signature. In that case you just cut the sample up.
But learning how to count out time signatures will also be useful, then you can just put the project to the correct time signature and find the bpm that way, then you can cut it up into something that works with 4/4.

Enjoyed watching the process. I find when using samples that are difficult to chop and sequence right..., i simply use the the arrow sign on the clip while its on sequence and fit to tempo. what the software does is time stretch the audio clip to match tempo. once that's figured out. I then use the pitch control found in the audio clip setting ( gear tool tip) to set the sample up and down the semi tones i need it to fit in the mix, with drums or whilst mixing. Kudos, loved the challenge.

Consider learning to use fruity slicer or serato sample. Makes finding chops a lot easier. Beat was actually fye tho
