    This is a Beautiful piece of art ! , since my early teen years i first learned about Crown amplifiers , i now own eleven vintage and modern digital Crown amps and that stunning EQ2 Crown equalizer , i even have one modified by Showco Inc. The Eldorado Bumper cars in Coney Island Brooklyn is where i learned how to shape my 100,000 watt sound system .

      That is quite a lot of power- must be for a large application or you live in a very large home. Went to Coney Island once- probably in the late 60's, but don't remember bumper cars. Thanks for sharing!

    I have this amp, in the wood case. Provides sufficient power for my Magnepan speakers. Works great for me.

      Thanks for the comment! I'm sure it looks good in the wood case. I am glad to hear that they drive those amp hungry Magnepans. They are overkill for my Lascalas and so I am selling them so I can get another amp(s)

    The Amcron version came from Canada , all the components are the same , i spoke to Crown about this , they said it was an overseas version !, the Eldorado Bumper cars was built in March of 73' , i moved to Coney Island in 69 ' , i'm 60 years old now and i''m a professional Dj by trade , i'e'v been loving music since four months old , my sister sat me right in front of my parent's stereo and it was a wrap, i tried to lift the tonearm off the album that my sister was playing !, and i still feels like iv'e just started playing music.

      I'm just a few years older than you. My parents were from Brooklynn, and we stayed with my great aunt and uncle who owned a deli in Long island- (Westberry?) for a week or so one summer in the late 60's if I remember correctly. I DJ'd at nite clubs from '79-'81. Still will make my own disco cd's using a basic Pioneer digital mixer and my PC- it makes it so much easier (and fun) than back in the day....

    Just bought one of these monsters, they keep going up in price. Very cool looking in a industrial way.

      Thanks for the commenting! Do you mind my asking how much you paid for it ?

      Indeed, and thanks for the comment. I decided that I am going to sell it as I only need one spare 200+w/ch power amps and I have two....

    I own 4 PSA-2s ,one is a Amcron version .

      I am guessing that Amcron was a re-branding. THe PSA-2 were a little bit different than the SA-2s, maybe more geared for the pro. I sold the one in the video about a month ago as I did not really need it anymore.

    I have the crown K1 and K2 air purifiers would you do a review on those especially your opinion on how they sound

    • @vintageaudioreview
      @vintageaudioreview  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you meant to say K1 & K2 amplifiers and not air purifiers 😄I don't have any friends with either of those amps so a review is not in the future. I looked up the K1 and the specs are good. It also does not appear to have a cooling fan, which is good. Aside from some low level power supply hum and possible hiss, I would expect them to sound fine. The more I A/B amps, the less differences I am able to hear- at least with decent testing amps (but not aways)- it mainly comes down to their ability to drive inefficient speakers to the levels you wish to achieve.

    I have a SA-2 and it was working fine, until one day, there was a pop and the right side, started clipping. It clips and reset and cycles that action over and over. Wondering you have had this experience before, wonder what causes it, if it is worth fixing and where is a good place that would work on these amps. I'd appreciate any suggestions you might have, thank you.

      Thanks for the question, but I am not going to be able to help you much- never had one problem with mine. Fixing it is relative to what the amp means to you more than anything, as you can probably find a vintage amp that can deliver the power of the SA2 for what it may cost to get it repaired if you have to ship it somewhere. Try to find a local repair shop that has a good reputation to take it to.

    I really like your videos, but unfortunately subtitles and closed captions are not enabled so I can translate. I don't speak English, unfortunately. Thanks.

      I did a quick check and saw how to do it. I will consider it, though you are the only request I have had. Thanks for pointing this out.
