Whisky .com tastes the Craigellachie 13 years. A whisky from the relatively unknown distillery of Craigellachie. It has been used for a lot of different blended whiskies.
    The nose:
Full intense, fruity, alcoholic note, light caramel, dried fruits, peaches
    The taste:
Very intense, slightly sharp, peppery, fruit in the back, some oak
    The finish:

I love this Whisky! Classic Speyside flavors turned up to 11 with a very full bodied arrival.

I am sipping Craigellachie 12, Douglas Laing Old Particular, as I watch your video. Non-Chillfiletered, no color, 48%, single cask. I wish I had tried this malt years ago. It is so unique. Reminds me of unpeated Isla. Cao Ila? It takes longer than usual to open up, so be patient. Bright, grassy, green apple, mango. Whiff of smoke and brine. Pronounced coastal character. Love the full mouthfeel. This is a "meaty", robust, heavy malt that coats your mouth well and it lingers. Ginger and white pepper.

Coming back to this review in December 2020 I think it a Horst classic. First rate information and tasting.

Mr. Lüning , I appreciated your comments about this being an "odd" distillery and the age statements being prime numbers :) Made my day geeking out on whisky :)

I tried a dram of this today at a bar. I got some light fruit and sweetness (i thought it was vanilla but it was probably the caramel note) on the nose and then dark fruit, oak, and spice on the palate.
    Overall, very nice.

Ralfy Mitchell from Ralfy.com just reviewed it on Sunday. He said that it benefited from adding water.

I just bought a bottle of this and damn it, Horst didn't finish the glass. That's a bad sign. At least it was only $27.

horst usually took one sip of even high quality whiskies in the first year of his English videos. What has your experience been like with this bottle?

Having spent time in the confectionery industry as a Quality Assurance Manager,, rather than boor people with detail of what I actually did for a living, I often described myself (especially to small children and people outside of the industry) as the Chief Lolly Taster. I imagine Horst is doing something very much the same.

      Doesn't really need explaining.

if he runs a store, then somebody has to be responsible for the tasting notes - i'd imagine something along those lines
