  • Lots to talk about with this new Enforcer 104! While it shares a lot of similarities with the outgoing Enforcer 104 Free, there are plenty of differences too and we think they have very different on snow personalities. Enjoy!

    Love how passionate you guys get about the skis. Used to want a more twin tip, splashy freeride ski but found energy out of turns and turn shape from flatter tail was more rewarding for me, aiming at long lines, with fluidity of the line being the target. These have a lot more appeal to me than the frees. Just my feedback. Thanks for the vid!

    Well done. I have the '23 version, which I've enjoyed all over the mountain, so long as the snow is soft. Watching this, I couldn't help but think Volkl created a niche market with the Mantra 102 and the other brands are playing catch-up.

    You compared it to the Mantra 102.. I think one of the things that I liked about the Mantra 102 was the 3D turn radius.. I was able to do some pretty tight turns with that ski and I was able to let the skis run too.. I just don't have the same feeling with the Enforcer 104.. I think the twin tippish of the 104 Free allows me to do somewhat tight turns.. Still a heavy ski.. I would even say heavier than the Mantra 102 but comparable to that 3D turn radius..
    I should also talk about my Stockli Stormrider 105s.. They really come alive at higher speeds and I think that is what you said about the Enforcer 104.. I would imagine that those Enforcer 104s blast through crud better.. When snow starts getting slushy my skiing style changes a lot.. For me the strong backbone of a ski doesn't work in soft snow.. With those Enforcer 104 I am sure that as the snow gets softer they will get stuck.. Any of my skis that have a stiff tail get stuck in the soft stuff..

    Nordica is a good ski however not for everyone. Got to be careful when considering as your number one ski. Truly a ski offering for those that have a variety of skis to chose from for that special day of skiing. I skied the Nordica Fire Arrow for a decade along with a Volkl RTM 86, Bonafide and Firebird HRC. All offered unique different experiences.

    Awesome review for these legendary skies and my first pair. Thanks guys.
    Fewer rockers for better use on groomed slopes, and harder for better camber it's reasonnable. The fact that they are hard or harder on groomed slopes than other skis in its category will provide better support and stability at -high- speed for players who lack confidence or who are afraid of losing their grip balance due to a great lack of rigidity as me I wish. it's rather a good point knowing the enforcer 2024 and its rigidity.

    • @SkiEssentials

      It's also quite refreshing as some other 2025 skis have made a move to the middle--these take the other path and push the boundaries of power and stability.

    Another excellent review, thank you. You guys do the best reviews on TH-cam and are up there with the Blister in terms of detailed analysis and insight.
    I have the Enforcer 104 Free and absolutely love them. The skis I use for all mountain charging are the Blizzard Bonafide 99, how do you think the new Enforcer 104 compares to these as a charging ski?

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'd say the new 104 is right there with the Bonafide. It's a surprisingly good carver for the width--that's what makes it stand out among a crowded field. Similar to the Blizzard, there's no chatter or waver when encountering adverse conditions or terrain. The main difference for this upcoming year is that the Nordica is easier to initiate the turn due to the slightly more forward mount point--the turns feel rounder and more complete as well.

    I've skied a few runs on these; they could be the best skis on the market for making clean turns down a chopped up/variable bowl but I'd prefer a different ski for anything else. I'd expect a ski that wide to be happier slashing/drifting turns than they are, had a better time on both the Anomaly and Mantra 102s for bumps and groomers

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, you have to put in some work to get this ski to slash or drift for sure. Personally, I still think the Mantra 102 is the most precise carver of this group but I prefer the Enforcer overall. The Anomaly 102 didn't quite do it for me this past year, but I'm still open-minded about it. I thought the 88 was sublime.

      @@SkiEssentials The effort is part of it, but also the feel. They're unbelievably smooth when hitting things dead on but pretty harsh when you have them sideways. I love the precise initiation from the Mantra and the energy out of the turn from the Anomaly (someone should combine the two, dream ski right there); the Enforcer carves well but didn't stand out to me. Anomaly 88 does seem to be the one to get from that line, they're near the top of my to-buy list

    really interesting conversation here. would you think Faction's Mana 2 has a similar personality to this ski? it'd be interesting to hear how the twin tip Mana 2 compares and contrasts to this seemingly more directional, dense, hard charger

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's funny, we talked about Faction in comparison to these Enforcers, but the Dancer 3 came up instead of the Mana 2. The carving capabilities of the Dancer are more in line with those of the Enforcer, but I do see how the dampness of the Mana could equate to that of the Nordica.

    Great review guys, as always! Was looking forward to this one (as a 2024 Enforcer 104 Free owner). How would you say the new 104 compares to the Sender 106 Ti? For skis I've been on, that's been my reference ski for the ~105 big mountain charger category.

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think the turn shape is the biggest difference here. Both have incredible stability and power, but the flatter tail of the Rossignol makes it prefer a more direct line down the hill--it's more of an attack style ski versus the Enforcer which still is such a clean carver. It's more stylistic than anything else. The shorter turns of the Enforcer could be argued lead to greater control while the longer effective edge of the Sender makes it one of the smoothest skis out there--a benchmark in this category for sure!

    As always, thanks for such a detailed review. Your reviews got me on the 104 Free this past year. With the 2025 going down a notch in the flotation category, what couple of skis out there would be considered most comparable to the 104 Free but small notch up in the flotation category? This is for a 1-ski quiver in UT. 110 Free (while supplies last) feels too wide to me on paper, but I haven't had a chance to demo.

      We mentioned the Salomon QST 106 in the video and I think this one holds up just fine. For a bit more of a twin, the Line Optic 104, Volkl Revolt 104 (most freeridey on this list), and Blizzard Rustler 10 are all worth a look. We also did a review on the new 2025 Atomic Maverick 105, and I think that one is a good choice as well.

    Great review and one I've been looking forward to. Still working out which ski to replace my Enforcer 100's, and I get the impression that perhaps the new 104 is not quite as manoeuvrable as the 104 Free in soft conditions - is this correct?
    If you were to rank soft snow / powder manoeuvrability between the previous 100, 104 and the new 99 and 104, what order would you put them in? Thanks and appreciate any thoughts on this and soft snow performance.

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  หลายเดือนก่อน

      There's a slight downtick in soft snow mobility, but there's a flip side to that which is an increase in on-trail power, so it kind of depends what you're looking for. As for ranking, I'd put the 104 Free at the top followed by the new 99. VERY closely behind, the new 104 and finally the old 100.
      The new 99 is a very impressive ski. I don't think many skiers will find that it particularly excels in soft snow, but the overall composure of the ski both on and off trail is amazing. The 104 Free is still the softer snow option here in the 2024/2025 Enforcer family, but we also think that taking a peek at the Unleashed 108 is at least worth consideration, especially if this is your softer snow ski and you have another option. If this is to be your one and only and you spend most of your time in softer snow, then I'd still go wide, but if you're mixing on piste carving and off-trail adventure, I'd keep that 99 square in your mind.

      @@SkiEssentials Thanks and I really appreciate the comprehensive reply. Based on your feedback I think it is a toss up between the 104 Free and the new 99 as I use it for travelling and can only muster up enough energy to take one ski so it needs to be able to handle what ever the day brings.

    How would these new 2025 skis compare to the Dancer 3s? On first glance they would seem similar with rocker and camber profile but are there any significant differences and/or similarities in how they ski?

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The Dancer 3 came up in comparison conversation for sure as a directional, dual-metal laminate ski that turns great for the width. The big difference is the energy of the Dancer due to the camber. You get more pep and zest out of the Faction as a result, and more damp smoothness and raw power out of the Enforcer.

    I like my Enforcer 104 Free. I'm not in love with it for its carving, though I did pick it in part because it was a better carver than other skis of a similar width that I demoed prior to getting my first powder/all-mountain ski. I like the idea of better charging/carving performance when considering this ski in isolation.
    But for a ski that wide, I'm scratching my head why I shouldn't be looking at a ski with a bit better powder performance than the new 2025 Enforcer 104, or go for a narrower ski if I really did want something more suited to carving and charging through crud than the old 104 Free which is a bit more of a powder ski. Is the new one supposed to be the powder/all-mountain daily driver for the west coast, where the wide width and the beefier construction make it easier to get through spring snow and Sierra Cement? It does not seem like it would make as much sense for colder, drier resorts.
    The new Enforcer 104 feels like it's just a stretched out version of what the Enforcer 100 was always meant to be. Conceptually, I feel like the Black Crows Atris makes more sense as far as what it's trying to do as a firmer mid-100s ski: it's a somewhat light, floaty, maneuverable ski that sends. I'm not convinced there's a clear home for current Enforcer 104 owners among Nordica's 2025 lineup.

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  19 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      There aren't any problems with the powder performance for what it is--maybe not as floaty as the 104 Free, but it'll sure handle dry snow with ease. The benefits of the new ski with the spring and Sierra snow outweigh any potential minor downsides with playfulness in softer snow. Atris is great for softer snow and more creative skiing, but I don't find it to be much of a turner like the Enforcers.

    How about compared to the Declivity 102?
    There is an update for 2025 too for all that range also?

    • @src248
      @src248 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      They're splitting the Declivity line, the wider skis have been updated and are now under the "Declivity X" umbrella. I know they're new but I'm not sure what's actually changed with them

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Compared to the 2024 Declivity 102, the new Enforcer is more similar. Still considerably more power and stability with the 104, but not as much pop or zest as the Declivity. For 2025, the 102 gets the X moniker, meaning a move to a poplar wood core vs. caruba and a lower metal laminate. Basically, they reduced the length of the metal by about 1/3 while keeping the articulated titanal banding in the mix. This X label, and the similar build, goes for the 102 and 108. New Declivity X 115 is still caruba and uses a Ti binding damper rather than the 2/3 metal layer.

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@scollyutube The 82 and 92 move from caruba to poplar like most of Armada's skis for 2025. Expect a bit more smoothness and damping as a result. The 88 C gets a re-do, moving to poplar as well but loosening the carbon to make it more flexible.
