@micaelconley639 I was about a mile out in 70ft of water. Just need deep ledges with bait. Apparently they used to catch them from the rocks in winter at night. If the water was cool enough I could see them coming in.
Hello Capt, great video. Watching one of your previous videos, I also started hooking up the Mackerel thru the nose. The Mackerel definitely lasts longer. I tried like you did in this video thru the side and also thru the mouth and out the top of the nose. Do you find one way working better than the other, knowing you probably tried all ways by now :)
@Wirenutby thought the nose from one side to the other right infront of the eyes has been far and away the best. Usually get 3 or 4 casts with them, they swim well on a slow troll and swim almost naturally while reeling them back in. We get a lot of strikes while pulling them back in.
Thanks Capt, I remember you doing so, and obviously it works. Just wasn't sure if you tried hooking them thru the mouth and out the top of the nose. Thanks again for another great video.
Great video man. What’s your process of catching Macs off shore? I’ve only fished for them close to shore, with great luck early in the season but now they seem very hard to find.
@keeganroma3631 ledges about a mile and a half out. 80ft or less and chum. Thru are on the ledges but the chum consolidates them and keeps them at the boat. Occasionally stripers will come through breaking them up but generally the mackerel will stay around
@vTango888 I got into them last weekend in 8 ft of water tight to the rocks at high tide. 4 fish over 40 and half a dozen between 33 and 39. They completely switched up from two weeks ago
Awesome work, great video, enjoyed the trip, thanks, thumbs up and greetings from NZ,, Tony.
@@waikarimoana I appreciate it. I'm jealous of the Doggies and GT. Ever get into them?
How close inshore can you catch cod?

Sweet! I've been having poor luck on the ledges in and around Cape Elizabeth in the last few weeks, hoping for better luck soon!

@@FishingWithBoyt That's what I like to hear, I'll be back out there this week for sure
I can never see macs on my finder. What setup do you have?
@marucsahle panoptix lvs34. Bought it for ice fishing but figured id try it for salt water this year and it's paying off
Nice work out there. Maybe I should keep my traps in for a couple weeks at a time.

Capt. B. Do you make your own chum?
@geraldgamage5440 every other year I grind up my left fish, scraps and bait and set it into buckets or blocks to freeze
Smart work! Not sure if ya had time with the new family addition. Thanks.
@geraldgamage5440 I make a day if it then burn my clothes
