I’m looking forward to seeing what you put on. Could you do a comparison with your mates SG when you do, it would be great to get a view on the improvement over stock shock since his rear suspension was working. Good luck with the replacement.

Thanks, mate. Hopefully, I will get a replacement from Harley and then moving forward a possible upgrade to most likely Wilbur's

Hi, have you had any luck with getting a new shock?

@ritchieok29 the bike is going in on Monday. I managed to buy a rear shock off someone who just bought a Sport Glide. Also fitting progressive suspension to the forks. I'll have a video out on it when it's done

I had to swap mine out with Ohlins front and rear, it’s now amazing but your right you would expect this after 10 years not 3 it’s all about building to a budget,

Well done for trying pal. Good to see the tap and dye work. My MY23 sport glide I picked up 13 days ago has fantastic suspension. Pisses all over that what my sportster had. Luckily I rode a demo before that I loved and my bike was just as good. Sounds like you got a bum deal with yours 🤦🏻‍♂️

Not that it means anything but regardless of warranty period, there is still an expectation/requirement that a product should last a reasonable amount of time. Maybe try the the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission for advice... if you wish to take the matter further.

Indeed.. I think as you say, it's not unreasonable to expect something like suspension to be fit for purpose for a reasonable length of time beyond any warranty period.

@@RidesForDays If you had mentioned concerns about the suspension during the warranty period they should actually cover it as they failed to do so earlier,. I guess this all depends on needed it rectified just to go aftermarket. Still disappointing.
My HD dealer have said they will still cover far issues after warranty because they know the bikes history.

Harleys shocks are crap. I replaced the rears on my SGS. Night and day difference.

@@RidesForDays I went with Legend Suspensions. Best $1000 I have spent on a bike.

What a joke mate. I do think you under Australian consumer law you'd have a case to get it done under warranty if you really tried because it's about how long you'd reasonably expect things to last and did you contact them about it during the warranty period and they fobbed you off saying it's normal? Anyway not going to harp on about it... if you don't want to go them that's fine. I'm glad you will finally have it fixed eventually, and I am actually interested to know the details of what Wilber's shocks fit in case I ever have to do it. That bolt extraction was a total sumbitch... Was it a high tensile bolt? that might be why you couldn't drill it. Anyway all the best Roddy Cheers Andrew. PS One day I might take the bike up to Port Macquarie - are you near there? we could go for a ride one day.

Mate, any time you're up this way, we'll go for a ride for sure. Yeah, I have some thinking to do regarding the suspension, I'm certainly not trying to make waves or anything. I just want a smoother ride lol

Hi mate. Make sure you check the RHS swingarm bearing is installed correctly. That will most likely be your problem not the shock. Check out this video…. Gives a clear picture of the issue…
