I seem to recall that after the Nikon FA was awarded "camera of the year" around 1984, and hitting a company university, Nikon made 50 gold-plated FAs with lizard covering. These were distributed to company executives and business associates. They were never sold at retail, but one would periodically drift into eBay back in the 1980s and 90s. It came with a matching, gold-plated 50mm 1.4 Nikkor.
Hey Man, I just wanted to say you’re doing a great job. Your videos are genuinely some of the best film photography content on the site. I learn so much from these videos and I hope you keep it up! You deserve way more views for the hard work you put in!
Didn't get my hands on a MF until the later 80s. Started with an AE1, A1, went to the F1. Also acquired a Nikon F2 and F3. All my manual focus SLRs still work great today.
I'm surprised you didn't mention the *totally genuine* 'Luftwaffe' 'Leica iii' gold cameras - refinished Zorkis or FEDs, in fact. I saw one in a Polish flea market last year.
Cool video. There are actually a bunch of different golden Hasselblads (30th and 50th Anniversary) Probably the favourite of mine is the gold with blue leatherette 503CX 50th Anniversary (Gold and blue = Swedish flag).
I suspect that when there is a lack of technical innovation which they can offer, manufacturers resort to cosmetic changes and 'blingification' to try to prop up revenue. Titanium bodies make sense, gold does not.
Good god those are hideous! (I say this as a child of the 70s who grew up in a house with gold trim, gold carpets, gold curtains, gold lamps, and a gold car in the driveway. Still can't stand the colour 🤣)
I agree that these cameras are just too impractical, their sole purpose is for a camera shop to display in their window to attract passers by. Titanium finish cameras on the other hand…
I have the cheaper B35 normal camera it cost £29.95 I.e. under 30 quid still works fine and still has people saying it can't be 35mm Full Frame it is Too Small.. Ho Ho..!!!
the list golden limited version I have Leica R6.2 golden limited celebrating Hongkong turned over into china. Hasselblad 500CM golden limited. Mamiya RB67 SD golden limited. Mamiya c330 golden limited
The golden cameras in this video look rather ugly, imho. Gold for wedding rings is an entirely different matter, however, especially worn and dented ones.
No one is shooting a gold film camera, for pride and safety for oneself. These kilobuck display pieces are not practical. I doubt there's a demand for them nowadays.
You should make a video on titanium cameras.
I'll make a note of that :)

There are several on eBay right now!
That Pentax lx is a thing of beauty.
I know right!

Thanks so much for the kind words!
Please come back, Azrael ! We do need your film photography and gear reviews, with a great Stranger Things 80's vibe !
This GOLD camera 📸
Oh my god how did I not think of that?!
I like this series of Azriel😊
Thanks!
So what you are saying is it might be a bad idea if I gold plated my Nikon Z9? 😋😁
Can you gold plate plastic? ;)
@@AzrielKnight Probably, yes.
the golden t2 60 years sells for a good amount
link?

Awesome!
Whereas older af slrs (eos 620 and elan) bit the dust @@AzrielKnight
Of note, QEII was seen with a gold Rollei
Oh very cool! Now we know who it's marketed for :)
The gold Nikon Df that goes for $58,000!
lol, link?
Who would in their right mind buy something like this kitsch, I do know I can imagen such a person.
lol, I have to admit it's tempting. If I were a millionaire I'd go for it.

Got a link?

That's cool! Maybe I'll do a part two sometime.
Nice! :)
Thank you :)

true.

titanium cameras have been mentioned here a few times, maybe I should do a video.

Leica R6.2 golden limited celebrating Hongkong turned over into china.
Hasselblad 500CM golden limited.
Mamiya RB67 SD golden limited.
Mamiya c330 golden limited
Most of those cameras to my eye are ugly and garish. I like your channel.
lol, they're shiny but impractical. And thanks :)
The golden cameras in this video look rather ugly, imho. Gold for wedding rings is an entirely different matter, however, especially worn and dented ones.
See, not that's where we differ because I think gold wedding bands look dated and tacky. :P

Based on the prices I agree.
Thumbnail. Number one needs kerning. Old school issue that needs old school solutions. Bye.
lol. Thanks for the tip, I've changed the font to something that spaces the numbers out properly for future thumbnails.
