What a singer.
One might find it silly to use the smartphone lights during shows, where one would use a lighter 15 years ago. But there's also something magical about it. The audience is actually capable of lighting up the stage in an ice hockey arena to evening indoor illumination levels. I've been in the front row of a show, the lights were turned off for a quiet part of a song, everybody lit up their phones, and it was like being surrounded by a reflector. A 15k audience doing that is equal to several kilowatts of power in LED light.

Since you like Epica, I think it would be fun for you to check out the roots of Dutch progressive rock. You should really check out: Focus - Hocus Pocus live '73. All members of the band have insane skill, but their guitar player Jan Akkerman was considered the best guitar player in the world at the time. And remember this, was in 1973!

So... how are you enjoying your new cans? How do they compare to your old ones. Also what did you rock before? I've got the Bluetooth version of those and they are fucking amazing. Best set of cans you can get for the money.

I don't know where you are from in the US, but don't get your hopes up for a large concert from EPICA unless you travel overseas. I have now seen them 3 times here in the US and all 3 times in the small venue of The Masquerade in Atlanta and they were incredible, but not the huge shows they do overseas in stadiums with the orchestra or choirs with them. I dream of seeing that myself. I hope you have dived into the music of EPICA in its entirety and found that greatness that is EPICA with me.

I love this song. This is one of my alltime favorite songs of them. A pitty you took this version because they put the live version over the studio version and this creates a very irritating echo. A better version can be found under the following link. th-cam.com/video/CPgZmfD5E8Q/w-d-xo.html
The song itself is based upon an old horrific Nordic fairytale transformed to a Poem by Wolfgang von Goethe (basically the German Shakespeare) called The Erlking (Der Erlkönig). The musical buildup is like the soundtrack of a movie with of sense forboding of the tragedy about to happen. The story is about a father racing through the night to get help for his sick son. That, in his fever-state, is having visions of gobling king trying to seduce him to enter the land of the dead. No growling in this song and Simone just sounds devine. The tragic conclusion makes this a piece of art. Beneath you will find the original version and literal English translation of the poem mentioned.
