I actually love this direction that Counterparts is going. Still respects the fans and has the same core, but in my opinion, they're leaning even harder toward the emotional/melodic part of them, which always made me gravitate toward them in the first place.
NO WAY. Literally goosebumps in the first 4 seconds! These dudes are unreal, honestly. There is no bands like them out there and there never will be! Seeing them next week, stoked as heck.
This is it, chief. The best metalcore record I've heard since Between Hell & Home and yet another reminder that these guys write S-tier music that spins on a dime between beauty and aggression. Album of the year confirmed.
Nothing Left to Love and You’re Not You Anymore were insane. I don’t understand how they’re not valued higher than Hell and Home, I’ve been listening since 2010 and this band manages to keep getting better every year.
@@CharlieViking95 I can totally see why! Some days NLTL is easily my favorite, other days it's Tragedy, sometimes it's even YNYA, and it took time but now I'm really hearing the genius of Eulogy and understand why it's some people's 10/10.
@@mikedriscoll6278 are you kidding? any one of these songs could be on any of their previous albums. counterparts songs all sound like cookie cutter versions of themselves. brendan even said “at this point we know what a counterparts song should sound like”…. I don’t like that, that self limiting
This fucked me up so hard. Woke up early to listen to it as soon as possible and I haven't been moved so heavily by a song since like 2016. Absolutely in love with the record. Hot take: their best yet. The record literally screams "autumn city rain night" to me and I couldn't adore that more. I'm not entirely sure why it has this connection but it couldn't be any better, I love it with all my heart. Thank you counterparts for being what you are.
If you told me every song of theirs was written in 2005, I wouldn’t bat an eye. This brings me back to a time in music that defined my taste. It’s everything I want. If there is such a thing as progressive metal, then this is *regressive* metal. I wish there were more bands that did this
Listened to the album in the car this morning, and when this one came on I was immediately stoked for the singing and started crying. This album is so beautiful and sad. Whispers already gets me feeling some kind of way every time now. Love everyone in Counterparts. Kuma forever.
This song was always something I felt since I was 13 years old with grieving my mom and dad long before I lost them. Seen you guys live 3 times and It's never enough. Truly the soundtrack to my life. thank you for existing.
It's back to that line-up writer/guitarists wise from Hell and Home (except for the bass and drums). They did not disappoint and I'm so damn happy! Jesse and Alex are probably a huge influence on my guitar playing.
Gosh damn ! Those lyrics are heart wrenching and beautiful. And the song writing is fantastic . I see why people go crazy for them! I'll have to hear more now :)
These guys never fail to amaze me. They bring that same sound they're known for but always add something new to it. I know they're well plauded in the scene but they're still underrated in my opinion.
This is the perfect combination of what I’ve always loved about counterparts. Always loved those little singing parts and those screams. Might be my new favourite by them.
This song is perfection, well done guys. Shit was giving me goosebumps, amazing lyrics top tier sound. This is what counterparts is. Described in one song
Holy fucking SHIT! I can't believe this is the best record they have ever done considering the level of quality of all the previous , WTF how do they do it.
You pronounce eulogy as “you-lo-gy”. The way you pronounce it suggests the first letter is a y, even if it isn’t. Hence why you use a instead of an. There are a few words like this. Universe is another example.
This track is good. Saying that this is their best record for me is very far from truth. I’m a counterparts fan from the start, they are different from The others in this genre for a lot of reason and one is The intricate structure and the intersection of the guitar parts. This new songs are much more linear, with big power chorus. U can like it but it’s not as studied and refined as before. Years pass and it’s ok. I love them regardless.
I think this album is them more matured, like if you go from here back i think your right that they were a little more sporadic but that isnt necessarily bad, it shows potential to make shit like this but those "potential" albums themselves are gems. like saints never surrender's album "brutus" or shai hulud's "from that within blood ill tempered" both sporadic and beautiful but terribly produced albums with the potential to become something so amazing that you cant describe it to others who dont understand music.
They play different hardcore subgenres, and honestly despite Senses Fail being more veterans than Counterparts, Senses Fail has not kept the same level of quality with their releases as Counterparts, these guys outdo themselves so hard with every new album.
Brandon really writes lyrics everybody thinks about but no one dares talking about. This man is so precious.
I actually love this direction that Counterparts is going. Still respects the fans and has the same core, but in my opinion, they're leaning even harder toward the emotional/melodic part of them, which always made me gravitate toward them in the first place.
I like this take :)
Totally true, that melodic parts should never dissapear
It's why decay is my favorite counterparts song
This song perfectly combines everything that made them, them in the past and puts a cherry on top. Please never stop Counterparts.
The outro is killing me, sadness mixed with a sense of relief.
BEST song on the album. Opening line gets me every time.
Easily one of the most beautiful songs they've ever written.
Title tracks that live up to their album. This is beautiful.
2:42 fucks me up emotionally

You know when you hear a song that tugs the heartstrings so hard you smile and want to cry at the same time? Thanks Counterparts ily
The hook "a eulogy for those still here" at the end will forever live in my head rent free.

Counterparts? I never even seen her parts 😅😅😅
Dumb question from a not native-english speaker: Shouldn't it be "AN eulogy..."? Wouldn't that be grammatically correct? Or is there a reason?
