Awesome work! I'm reading some of the comments and I really don't think people understand... This is a 1 man project done in a very short period of time FROM HOME! This is nothing but inspiring for me. If y'all want to make a perfect short film, go do it! Unreal Engine is free... Good luck tho, you'll see how much work he actually put in! Keep up the good work!
Again....the best unreal engine 5 tutorials.... i mean i have to give you your props... most people not gonna do this man....tell everything, show everything and the presentation of how your delivering the tutorials are official. Again thank you brother.
I have a hack for the stairs , you can use the elevator , it will require less leg animation and you can also fake it by animating lights and reflectors that way you can really let the viewer use his own imagination.
Thanks. That's a very good shout to consider where UE will be when 16 releases. Thanks for this video. I am also a fan of your more relaxed tutorials as opposed to the "shouting" ones we see on other channels.
Really nice work! One thing I can't get over (and this is a dumb picky thing the general public might not care about) is how all metahuman characters have a super distinct metahuman look. It's difficult to even define what it is. But I see it even in the scan store metahumans. It doesn't break the animation by any means, it's just something I notice.
@@TheDarkestAgeUnreal probably too perfect and at the same time somewhat soulless. But as you said, the tech is going to be better, which is scary and fascinating at the same time.

Amazing work in such a short time. Looks great. I think it'd look better with a lot of the scenes being longer lense (less fish eyed) Movies tend to use longer lense for a more detailed filmic look, I'm personally a fan of Anamorphic lense which are great because they have a lovely distortion and wide field of view but still with the benefits of a zoom lense. But that is just a personal preference as a guy that has lots of opinions. You did a fantastic job.
Looking good! I think the main guy may be a little out of sync with his lips an audio in the first part of the film, but overall, looking great! Thanks for sharing. Found this video extremely valuable and just subbed
Getting the motion right is definitely a battle: I kind of feel like some stuff felt too smoothed, but that is preferable over jitter. I've been recording everything in Engine and it has been giving me good results, although the anim compression from take recorder seems to lead to a little more foot sliding. Anyways, great work!
You've done an awesome job! For me, I use the Perception Neuron 3 for motion movement for my projects. Hopefully to upgrade to PN Studio. Just got into UE5 too.
Great Work! thanks for sharing your experience! but I think you should integrate Iclone in your pipeline, it will definitely help solve the smoothing issue, and interactive with hands and stairs steps
The production value is really cool, but the lip syncing is really off for this. I'm assuming it's something you weren't able to fix just by shifting it forward a few seconds or backwards?
I honestly am not sure what happened, I must have bumped those lines in the timeline before exporting. Super dump. I didn't realize until the video and been up for awhile
Everything is good, I mean I'm speaking from expierience, cause I did the same. The only thing, if You asked in the video lacking is in purely acting, cause it feels in many places like in a hurry. But that also is totally understandable, the most crucial thing in mocap is peace, and plan. Those steady moments, then when nothing is really happneing those are the bridges of emotions. Imo for the 40h You give to it, it's great :)
This is very impressive! But the thing that bothered me the most, besides the hands, was the facial capture. Were you saying the lines out loud while capturing? It kinda looks like you were mouthing the words but not saying them... if that makes sense. Either that or you were dramatically enunciating the words to help the capture? I dunno, it just feels off. But again, this was great for only 40hrs! I'm hoping to get into this stuff soon. :)
I was a tualpy saying the lines, but the dialog audio got thrown off right before i exported. I am not entirely sure how, it might have been when I censored it. Then I stupidly didn't check it before I uploaded, then the next morning it had like 2k views, so i didn't delete it 🙄
Agreed! They will have to reconsider their pricing, the competition is coming for sure. Keep in mind this is still fairly competitive with buying say 2 xsense suits
@@TheDarkestAgeUnreal definitely, I’m sure I’ll be back for more complex projects but currently making do pretty well with their one camera solution, Move One. Combining it with Cascadeur + Iclone to tie the scenes and character interactions together is a working pipeline so far.
Cool lighting, overall look and interesting choice on the wide angle usage. Though imo a bit much on the lens flares and somehow the editing is a bit off / fast paced and doesn't always fit the narrative.
I think is not an issue of technology, its a thing of talent and experience. The artist who make the textures with the scans, maybe is not good enough, cause most artist nowadays can replicate humans faces with the uncanny valley touch, and they have been doing it years before UE5

Awesome video! You mentioned looking into VR + motion capture. I'm planning on testing this with my rokoko suit and oculus 2. I'm wondering if I can just act out a scene while standing in it for accuracy of movement. Without marking out my actual floor in the room I'm performing in for example.
I have done this in the past using Vive trackers and a Valve Index. Doing it with rokoko would work, but you will have to get the positional data from the Oculus, since the inertial suit doesn't know it's exact place in space.
