    Awesome work! I'm reading some of the comments and I really don't think people understand... This is a 1 man project done in a very short period of time FROM HOME! This is nothing but inspiring for me. If y'all want to make a perfect short film, go do it! Unreal Engine is free... Good luck tho, you'll see how much work he actually put in! Keep up the good work!

    I have a hack for the stairs , you can use the elevator , it will require less leg animation and you can also fake it by animating lights and reflectors that way you can really let the viewer use his own imagination.

    Really nice work! One thing I can't get over (and this is a dumb picky thing the general public might not care about) is how all metahuman characters have a super distinct metahuman look. It's difficult to even define what it is. But I see it even in the scan store metahumans.
    It doesn't break the animation by any means, it's just something I notice.

    • @rileyb3d
      @rileyb3d หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @ in this case, I feel it’s actually mannerisms in the Metahumans themselves. Like I said it’s hard to pin it down, but if I had to define it, I’d sum it up by saying it shows too much teeth and whites of the eyes. I guess you could try to dirty up the frame a bit to distract from it, but I’m not sure that addresses the quirk. Pretty awesome stuff regardless, I just think realistic, digital humans are tough, to say the least.

    Amazing work in such a short time. Looks great. I think it'd look better with a lot of the scenes being longer lense (less fish eyed) Movies tend to use longer lense for a more detailed filmic look, I'm personally a fan of Anamorphic lense which are great because they have a lovely distortion and wide field of view but still with the benefits of a zoom lense. But that is just a personal preference as a guy that has lots of opinions. You did a fantastic job.

    Getting the motion right is definitely a battle: I kind of feel like some stuff felt too smoothed, but that is preferable over jitter. I've been recording everything in Engine and it has been giving me good results, although the anim compression from take recorder seems to lead to a little more foot sliding. Anyways, great work!

    Everything is good, I mean I'm speaking from expierience, cause I did the same. The only thing, if You asked in the video lacking is in purely acting, cause it feels in many places like in a hurry. But that also is totally understandable, the most crucial thing in mocap is peace, and plan. Those steady moments, then when nothing is really happneing those are the bridges of emotions. Imo for the 40h You give to it, it's great :)

    This is very impressive! But the thing that bothered me the most, besides the hands, was the facial capture. Were you saying the lines out loud while capturing? It kinda looks like you were mouthing the words but not saying them... if that makes sense. Either that or you were dramatically enunciating the words to help the capture? I dunno, it just feels off. But again, this was great for only 40hrs! I'm hoping to get into this stuff soon. :)

      I was a tualpy saying the lines, but the dialog audio got thrown off right before i exported. I am not entirely sure how, it might have been when I censored it. Then I stupidly didn't check it before I uploaded, then the next morning it had like 2k views, so i didn't delete it 🙄

    congrats ! excellent...! awesome & umoshiroi !!! this is the way to self make movies
    w lots of characters via motion capture and performance capture !
    a) very well impressed on how fluid body and face animations flow together naturally although the naturalistic
    actor performance would enhance greatly w more theater physical actor movement research.
    the punch in the kidnapped guy was intense and very sensorial. more iconic gestures please !
    b) camera and lighting are a bit fragmented, by not having an unifying concept of camera narrative:
    who is telling the story visually ? why is this whoever telling this story visually ?
    keep animations & blocking I would reshoot w a camera on a track or a handheld camera in a third character unseen.
    cheers from Rio !

      I have done this in the past using Vive trackers and a Valve Index. Doing it with rokoko would work, but you will have to get the positional data from the Oculus, since the inertial suit doesn't know it's exact place in space.

      A rokoko suit would be cheaper, but i don't really like using suits, they are uncomfortable and I think the capture from Move is better. Also, I got Move because I wanted to capture two actors interacting at the same time, and this is just such a smoother process thank getting two suits on and off two actors who have never used them. Also, the cameras are better at capturing my true position in 3d space. Suits can drift.

      @@TheDarkestAgeUnreal The shots I really like in terms of lightning mood and composition are at 1:04, 1:09, 1:25, 1:47, 1:55. They are well done and they feel cinematic.
      Now the ones I felt like they are "bad" are at 0:56 - that anamorphic lens flare from the cigarette is weird, you should not add it at all. 1:41 light is too bright maybe you can add some lights in front of the character to have the specular in his eyes, 1:43 same as before, 1:47 - here the lightning is a bit flat, maybe you can have some dark space in the background to have a sense of depth , 1:58 lighting on character is too powerful almost blown ( at 3:12 the light on his face looks natural and perfect ) , 2:28 I think here you could add lights from side and rear and not full on his face , These are my 2 cents. My personal feeling with bright lights and a lot of bloom, it makes that "Xbox 360 graphics" if you know what I mean. Cheers!

      I wonder if there will be a great fusion together, where you prompt ' make me action scene like neo fighting agent Smith' then it just churns out flawless animations.

      Absolutely there will, probably very soon. It will be a storytelling tool, just like UE, very powerful bo doubt. But it is impossible to predict the future; there is huge potential in UE as is, and many unproven promises from Ai. Best thing to do is to be versed in learning new tools.

      @armondtanz หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TheDarkestAgeUnreal As soon as i seen AI i gave up UE, its potential has grown. I hope your making the correct decision because it just could get to the point were prompts are king and these are the future creators.
      Defo check out DOR brothers, ts good to know whats cutting edge, you'll be glad to see its still very much 'janky'

      @@armondtanz I highly doubt prompts will help you create films and scenes you have in mind. I mean the emotions, the look, the feel, the camera jitter, camera angle, the transition, cuts. The task will surely become simpler. I mean AI will always be a tool. They can't replace imagination and storytelling

    Damn, I dislike this title so much! :D So, what exactly makes this AAA? :) Is it the typical generic Unreal Engine look you see in all the games today? If so, then I agree. Anyway, I love the video-super impressive skill set! It's actually an inspiring video.

    • @TheDarkestAgeUnreal
      @TheDarkestAgeUnreal  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey fair enough, my thoughts with using AAA in the title were mostly to do with the fact that this would have taken a much bigger team and budget to do this not too long ago. AAA has more to do with the budget and scope more than anything, but I also think it's a loosely defined term.
