A Common Sight In Northern Michigan

  • There are many abandoned farm homes and barns in Michigan. This one is just down the road. Often the cost of fixing the house or the barn is cost prohibitive. Many farmers build new close to the area of these old structures.
*** Be honest, please. This is 1080P resolution shot at 24FPS. How does it appear to you. I had a shotgun mic on at the standard setting. Thanks.

Video and audio looked fine to me. I thought the audio picked up your footsteps great. And like I said the video was good as well but as well. Thanks for showing that period I'm very interested in finding the right place in real rough condition like this shown. Currently I'm taking care of my 90 two-year-old mother who is in state 4 heart failure Michigan. Thanks again for the motivation the motivation to search

Tom the picture quality is great really clear and the sound is way louder the the set up you've used before. Very cool, I've alot cool places like this up north. I truly love the old craftsmanship of those old barns and houses. It's something you will never see again.

Is there a way you could post lands possibly vacant in central michigan? I am hunting lower cost land, preferrably farmland/acreage. (ol country gal running from the city)

Oh wow, an old bank barn like ours, but no floors or stalls. By all the lumber strewn around, may have had at one time. Our farmhouse square like that, too, but with open porch on front and big enclosed one in back. Predominant farmhouse style around the turn of the century here in MI from how many I see in our area. Someone told me farmers ordered them from the catalog and had all the pieces/parts delivered. Sears maybe? Looks like it's been empty for a while. Camera work looks great, might not matter much looking at it on a cellphone like I do, anyway. You sound a little like a Sasquatch smushing through the tall grass😁. Pretty clear. Nice explore, caught the ambience quite well. Yup. Noisy crickets and cicadas. Deafening at our place. Nice walkabout and got some exercise in, too. Good job. 👍

I hate to see the old barns falling down as they will never be built like this again . But since this video was made , things are getting better in Michigan with a big part of that being because of legalizing marijuana . 🌺

Yup cause they only make livable space for old people up there. Shocked some old man with a shot gun didn’t welcome ya from his ford .. all that aside all the younger generation that is now old enough to own homes myself included moved away young. Very very few still reside in those areas other than old people. Parents.. or perhaps new parents that are lucky enough to even find suitable work there.
The biggest things going on in ogemaw county.
    1. Drugs
    2. Lack of housing
    3. Lack of suitable work that pays enough to even pay the rent and food.
    4. Old people that just keep building more and more senior centers and senior housing, yet nothing for the younger generation that’s remotely affordable and not horrible living conditions or an hr or more from the nearest reasonable job.
    5. Lack of culture entirely.
    6. Other than beautiful woods and rivers and lakes and beaches “when it’s warm enough.” Unless your an avid hunter or fisherman in a cabin what’s there? What industry what jobs? What is there.. nothing.. family perhaps for me and that’s about it anymore.
    7. And lastly police that feel the need to pray on motorists because it’s the “only” means of them making their bankroll and keeping their jobs up there.

I've been curious for some time now and seeing this video today made me wonder to the point where I just want to ask. Why is it that you only show the worst parts of Detroit but make no mention of the massive revitalization of Detroit. This clip about seeing this all the time up north, yes you do see an old abandoned house every once in awhile up North in your traveling but that is not at all a typical of a common site up north. Everyone has a right to make videos about whatever they want I completely understand that but I'm just really curious why your videos about Michigan especially Detroit and now this one up north only seem to incorporate the worst of a situation in a given area. I know some people quote on quote get off on only showing bad things but I can tell with the interviews that you do with the street girls that you don't seem to be that kind of a person you seem to be a regular individual that's why I just don't understand about all of these negative michigan, especially Detroit videos of just shit areas pardon my French.
By the way the videos you do with the street girls and telling them about the people on TH-cams willingness to help them I think gives them a lot of encouragement. You are also showing it can happen to anyone down there from all different walks of life whether they're from the inner city or suburbs. That's why I found videos between the street girls and the other ones who make above Detroit quite paradoxical

@@bruceklmichigan9535 For starters you reference the worst areas? Who said anything about these areas being the worst? Are the best areas the most expensive homes with manicured yards like Indian Village? I get all over the lower and upper peninsula and there are barns all over than are a result of failed farms and the inability of the farmers to afford the cost of repairs. The state considers blight with regard to Michigan farming communities a crisis. There are several volunteer organizations desperately trying to save barns they consider of historical cultural significance. Go out to Prescott, west of here to the largest farm west of the Mississippi. Take a look at their 95 year old 4000 SF barn that collapsed. They can't afford to build a new one. Dairy farmers in Ogemaw county are going out of business at a record pace. What should I do go photograph or video barns and homes that are still standing because the farmer is maxed out on his credit cards and is staying in business by bankruptcy, Chapter 13? Detroit is number for urban blight in the county and have at least 40,000+ homes that can't afford to demo within the next 5 years. My photography and video is a sign of the times. The scenes are not unique. This is unfortunate.

@@ChosenWon I didn't ask the question to argue or go back and forth. It was just a simple inquiry, I do know that people write comments on here just start arguments some things I've read from other videos in the past that's not my intention. I was just curious why you concentrated on run-down areas in Detroit for your Detroit small videos that's all. Figured it may have been a place you lived in the past when it was a lot nicer area and just wanted to show what it was like now, wasn't important. Good luck with your future videos.
Yes I have seen distressed areas up north I have a lot of family in the East Tawas area unfortunately there's always Farmers up there some of them it seems always go through hard times it just depends on what they're farming, how they spend their money that could be said for a lot of people living up there it's not easy to make it and you can't always predict what's going to happen in the world and things people, Farms other businesses fall through the cracks. We've seen it with family friends my family has quite a few small businesses up north and it's sad but no matter if times are good or bad and no matter where you are in this country unfortunately it's not always going to be good for everyone but that can be set up anywhere on this planet

@@bruceklmichigan9535 I'm not arguing. All I'm saying is this economy that's supposedly rebounding is a bunch of bullshit. The reason reason the landscape, rural and urban looks the way it does is because the infrastructure in failing. Look at the poverty levels in all counties of Michigan. It isn't just Detroit. When many of today's young, middle class struggle to make more than 10 bucks an hour this is what you see. Look at the roads in Michigan. When people don't make much or there are few decent paying jobs there are not enough contributors to the kitty. Ask any municipality. My county had more tax revenue 30 years ago. And that's when a dollar had more value. You suggested I target the bad areas. They're all over. The haves and the have nets are getting further apart than ever. You're right, I did have something happen to me; I experienced the 1970's as an adult. Back then I would of had to take a trip to a third world country to get the clips and photos. Not anymore.
