Mr Mainak Bose It seems that you have to know some more details about this Indian Railways from 1980 onwirds I suppose whenever they take up the expansion of railway projects involving 2000 3000 or sometimes 4000 crores of ruoees they also think of voume of getting the manageble fom those projects If you happens to get the statistical figures you veru well comes to know everything I will give you one simple matter since I am 100 percent sure about that Indian Railwsys are earning huge and and expected REVENUES by running the long distance and other type of express trains But while running the other passenger trains the revenue is almost 70 per cent less These trains are like NO PROFIT NO LOSS to railways Only because of this reason the Indian Railways preferred to give revenue yielding goods trains to overtake nearly 70 percent of these non revenue yielding trains You can very well see tjese things happened regularly on EASTERN AND SOUTH EASTERN RAILWAYS and also on the places where the demand for goods trsins are more
