We RETEKESS team also hope to use 18650 batteries, but in fact, the US and the EU do not allow sellers to use this type of battery. Therefore, we have to abandon the 18650 option to comply with regulatory requirements.
I believe it is BS that those user installed batteries are banned in the US. I have seen many products use those batteries in devices sold in the United States. In fact there are different brands of this same radio that are sold with these user replaceable batteries.
Soft muting on this and the other versions is a major problem. You should really have shown tuning with the concentric knobs as that would demonstrate the soft muting issue...thanks
The 919 is the same as the Retekess 112. Better depends on what's important to you. The TR113 has a lot more features and options but if they don't matter to you, then they're of no value. Cheers
@@retekessradio1714 I just bought one from Amazon and it's still on the V1.698. Do I have to return it and buy a new one or can i update the firmware myself?
There have been many reports of attempted firmware updates bricking the radio. The sellers of these radios caution that such event would not be covered by warranty. Personally I will not purchase a radio without being assured of two things: that it has the latest firmware already installed and that such firmware will resolve the muting issue to my satisfaction. That cannot be known for sure until we see reviews that assess the latest firmware and whether the user is satisfied with the result.
Comprei um rádio desse esperando ter recepção das faixas de 11, 20,40 e 80 metros mas não pega nada além de AM,FM e VHF... Serve como uma peça linda e ornamentativa mas nada além disso!!! Dinheiro jogado fora!!! So tem beleza, mas funcionalidade:Zero!!!
Not sure what radio you have. Your comment translated as a radio like this. As demonstrated in the video, the Retekiss radio does indeed receive in the bands you mention. In most cases an external antenna is necessary to receive any but the strongest signals. Sorry you're disappointed.
I got the bundle and that little black radio is pretty cool, great sound.
Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers.
Nice review. It would be nice if they had included a water fall display. I think I would want the 18650 batteries rather than a flat pack battery.

@@retekessradio1714 I see, such a shame. Thanks for the explanation.

What type of SMA external antenna do you recommend?
the mla 30 on my rf919 had overload but worked fine in local mode

Can you recommend a radio that has these features minus the soft muting? I'm looking for one.
Actually, our latest version of TR113 can now cancel soft muting....it's just that Jim didn't show it in this video.
Is this better than the 919?

The radio would be awesome if it wasn't for the muting when tuning with the tuning dial, thats way to anoying sadly.

While I haven't done it, I believe the firmware is user upgradeable.Check with Retekess support.
@@retekessradio1714 would like to see how good that works
If it works OK I will buy one
Othewhise I'll wait.
