Just casually dropping Netflix quality short docs and getting less than 10K views while Joe Schmo talks about a Leica for the 16th time and everyone creams their pants. All good!
Because Leicas are forever controversial and stirr up the aggresive emotions in people, this video is a calm contemplation, lots of people don't have interest in touching that deeply rooted nostalgia and empathy, but that's what makes it even more valuable, me thinks!
The professionalism it takes to create movies like this is crazy. Fantastic job man, thanks for putting in the effort and sharing these experiences, it's truly a joy to watch!
I wont lie Brae, I had my doubts about our dip in Loch Ness…but let it be known that you did better than 99% of Scots! Pleasure having you both in the country and what a fantastic video showcasing what Scotland has to offer. When you both visit next I have a more ‘wild’ list of things to do e.g hiking in Torridon, sleeping in some remote bothys and visiting some of the outer isles. Take care mate ✌🏼
Thanks Brae for taking me back to bonny Scotland. Looks like you had a grand old time and took home some lovely shots. Definitely made me hold my breath when you said it's time to get down on one knee 😀
1:20 - Edin Borrow lol 7:00 - "Scotch" lol, you're lucky you only got a slap on the wrist, in a lot of places they'd just pour some Johnnie Walker for you to return the insult xD 18:21 - Lock Ness lol Not a dig at you, every American coming to Scotland had to learn those things, it's part of the journey and a forever fertile meme. Glad you enjoyed it, visited some amazing places. Oban is one of my fav towns in the country, the ferry takes you to Mull which is a gem, and much less crowded than Skye. Then you can eat some sea food from a booth in Fionnphort and go to Iona, see the cool Abbey and (if weather permits) travel to Staffa as well :) From there go to Tobermory, visit the distillery, get across and see the Glenfinnan Viaduct. I'd recommend going to the more wild and raw north-west of the country, areas like Torridon and Ullapool are stunning. Also if you haven't already, check out why Royal Lochnagar has the Royal in the name, it's a cool story. You can also visit the place where they found the oldest official record of whisky production that you mention in the video, it's in Lindores Abbey, and now it also has a distillery just next door, with some of the best modern single malt whisky :)
Hi Brae, great video, glad to see you enjoying Scotland. Just so you know, the 'Glen' in Glen Coe means 'valley', just like the 'Ben' in Ben Nevis means mountain. Therefore saying Glen Coe Valley is like saying the Valley of Coe Valley
Loved this video. One of my favourites. Went to Glencoe a few years ago (and stayed in the hotel where you find all the deer). Plan to go back to Skye when I can.
Great trip Brae , well Planned and I say that as a Scotsman. On your next trip you guys need to head north after Kyle of localsh instead of going to skye stay on the mainland toward plockton then up through torridon toward loch maree and the town of Gairloch. Wester Ross is beautiful. My favourite part of Scotland.
The beautiful hymn at the start of the video is the basis of Cat Steven’s ‘Morning Has Broken’. The tune was originally written in 1931 as a Christian Hymn with words by ‘Eleanor Farieon’ and based on the Scottish Gaelic tune ‘Bunessan’ Folk singer Stevens adapted this work for his famous song ‘Morning Has Broken’ on the ‘Teaser and the Firecat’ album (1971) Rick Wakeman was brought in to compose the iconic piano additions, which gave the track its signature sound. Wakeman based his composition on another piece he was working on at the time. A couple of controversial legal battles ensued as Stevens had not got proper copyright clearances. I put together a music video for ‘Morning Has Broken’ filmed on Super 8mm BW film with a Canon 814 cine camera (my first movie camera).
Thanks for a beautiful appraisal of our beautiful country Brae. Hoping to visit the Pacific NW next spring hopefully, it looks equally breathtaking over there 👌
Great video Brae! Your trip practically mirrored my trip around Skye and back in September! As well, my girlfriend and I took 12 rolls of film to capture the journey in between. It seemed like around every corner was a spot to take a shot. Unfortunately due to time we had to pick and choose what was worth pulling over for. Still though, we were able to see some bucket list locations and have a successful trip around Skye. Love your work man!
Great impressions from this nice country. Been there in June for a short honeymoon and we loved it. Went to some of the same pubs. Sorry for your loss; Alicia ;).
Yeah she mentioned that she could sing an old Scottish hymn for the video so I had to take her up on the offer haha. And it was an issue with the focusing patch in the viewfinder. It would get stuck all the time. I guess it's a common issue on these cameras...
Brilliant , we did a similar journey in summer flying from Edinburgh to Calgary eventually ending up in Tacoma. Anyway the pub crawls continue which are always interesting.
Over this last year I spent almost two months in Tacoma and absolutely loved it, I hope to return at some point. Keep your adventures and photography coming they're great
Another great video! Your dialogue, mixed with beautiful landscape photography provides a wonderful experience for us bystanders. Keep up the great work, they only seem to get better and better. I, like many others, look forward to seeing a new Brae video pop up on my subscriptions 🤘🏼
Great episode, stunning scenery and perfect photos and video. Suggestion: try putting a black matte instead of white on the pics - from my experience they stand out more.
Absolutely brilliant, mate. Your videos always inspire me. But damn you! Now I just want to go back to Scotland. And drink Guinness, and have a wee whiskey. And take pictures. :)🍺
hi! loved this video loads as always, but i was just wondering what the song was on 29:25? tried looking for it on your spotify playlist but couldn't find it unfortunately
We love Scotland. Wish things were simpler and we could try to live there. May 2025 will be our 5th time there... When you visit again, if you go to Isle of Skye, remember to drive to Neist Point lighthouse.
Fantastic video, so much fun and information...can you comment on how to travel with the gear you took. Im thinking yiu had to ck that big ass camera you have...film protection etc...thx
I'm only 4 minutes into the video, you've just explained your itinerary and as always, I'm left wondering why everyone visiting Scotland begins their journey at Edinburgh and moves north through the Highlands. Don't get me wrong, the north is amazing and Edinburgh is a photographers paradise but it's overdone, especially by TH-camrs. If you ever come back for another visit, I'd recommend starting in Ayrshire, then down through Dumfries & Galloway, then across to the Scottish Borders, then in Southern Lanarkshire. The scenery is varied and beautiful and there is a lot to see and photograph. You could of course do it in reverse or begin in Edinburgh again and move down to the borders. Southern Scotland is fantastic and shouldn't be missed out.
C'mon chap, the borders are lovely, don't get me wrong. But in no way to they compare to the beauty and grandeur of the highlands, the picturesque Scotland that 99% of tourists have in their minds before visiting. Starting in Edinburgh is a no brainer too, since most people fly in to there. It'd be a bit strange to then head all the way over to Ayrshire (for no particular reason?).
common misconception, the word Scotch literally means "to blend things" so Scotch whiskey is a bunch of whiskeys thrown together. Thats why you got told off for saying it!

Quality views, though! You can sleep better at night knowing you are doing good work and mooning the algorithm.
I mean, who doesn't love creaming their pants?

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed watching.
Alicia and I both laughed looking back at that footage haha

I come to TH-cam everyday chasing the feeling I got watching this video. Amazing. Also I’m now going to Scotland.
Thank you for the kind comment!
Loved this video. One of my favourites. Went to Glencoe a few years ago (and stayed in the hotel where you find all the deer). Plan to go back to Skye when I can.

Just picked up a Pentax 67 with the 105, so especially fun to see you traveling with it here.
30:35 Great to see a Canon 814 auto zoom in use - my first cine camera, upgraded later to 1014e with 10x 7-70mm zoom, great lens.
Right on. Love my 814!
You had me at exploring most beautiful country and Scotland 😎 my home
Beautiful place to call home!
Your video editing and production are 11/10. Thanks for sharing your trip, and I officially invite you down under for some *real* beer experiences.
Thanks! And I do need to get over there soon!
Good on ya for another landscape, pub crawl, road trip with the 67 and Super 8. Be careful when "bending the knee" with Alicia nearby!
Haha thanks Tod! And yeah one of these days it could be for real 👀

God this was so beautiful and now I'm convinced I need to go up there too. Great photos 🍻
You absolutely do! Thanks dude
Wow so good !!! Gorgeous country gorgeous photos. It almost felt very different with all the sunlight than usual Scotland
Thanks! Yeah we got pretty lucky with some sunny days there which was nice
5:40 - I wish I could have a Mamiya 7, so compact and light, but for what I shoot the Pentax 67 is the only option, so feel your (back) pain man :D
if you're new to cask ales, i always recommend an IPA( indian pale ale), really light and refeshing and usually served slightly colder.
Thanks for the recommendation!

Beautiful! The Pentax was the right choice! Some beautiful shots and great video in general!
Thank you very much!

So sad about Alicia’s camera, maybe the shutter?

Awesome shots and a lovely video! Btw, did you scan the photos yourself or are these lab scans? They're gorgeous
Thank you! Yeah scanned these on my Sony a7iv with the 90mm macro! Except the velvia photos were scanned by the lab.
