Your love for birds inspires your community's love for you. You made this channel to help us, and in turn we can use this channel to help each other. You've created a self-perpetuating support machine that generates even more good as it expands. In many ways, that's the greatest thing you can do--and you cared enough to make it all happen in the first place. Once again, you've made good from your pain. It's simply who you are, Love. You deserve three heartfelt hugs, followed with a high five.

Your video made me cry my eyes out as it is exactly what I have just gone through myself 😢 I recently lost 2 of my girls, not sure what was wrong with them, one had a lash egg infection, the other just died overnight I didn't even know she was sick. I nursed Florence my latest girl for weeks in my laundry, tried everything homeopathically that I could think of, syringed colloidal silver into her mouth, probiotics. You name it. Unfortunately I ended up taking her to the vets for antibiotics which I hate. One dose didn't do anything so I got another dose and she was dead the next morning 😭😭 my husband works away so I had to deal with both chickens and bury them myself. It was so hard one of the hardest things I have ever had to do in my life. So I feel your pain. In this time my dog got a paralysis tick too and ended up in the emergency vets and nearly died. It was a horrible time for me and felt so lonely. Thanks for sharing your story, you are so strong, keep going because there are so many chickens that need you 😊

I'm so sorry for your loss. No expectations here. We're all in this together. I tell everyone, "if you're are having a bad day, just come spend some time with my chickens." So sorry for your loss Dalia. About a year ago we lost our beloved Pippy. The people around us said "it's just a chicken" with the accompanying eye roll and head shake. No one understood our grief. I reached out to you and you were so understanding, supportive and encouraging. My daughter cried when I read her your response. I can so relate to this right now! After a year-and-a-half of chicken keeping, I lost my ISA Brown Sweetie to a reproductive disease. 😢 The last week watching her suffer while I tried to heal her from what I didn't know at the time was the worst. And I was scared that she might have some type of virus that could pass to the other chickens. It wasn't until after the autopsy that I knew there was nothing I could have done for her. I wasn't prepared to lose any of my girls. And all the research I had done before getting chickens they all said that chickens had the lifespan of dogs. No one prepared me for how fragile they can be and how quickly things can turn. As devastated as I am, the other girls are relying on me and I love them dearly.

I know that look that they give us when we are trying to do everything we can to help them get better ❤️ I have 3 Isa browns who developed a bacterial respiratory infection after serious flooding we had during a cyclone last December. I love them with all of my heart and have combined natural treatments you recommend as well as anti biotics from the vet. They’re still not well and I don’t think they will be again. So, my days are spent making sure they have the best little lives, until they pass. It’s breaking my heart but I’m not going to give up. Chickens as you say, bring us so much joy. I feel like I’ve let them down but then they give me that sweet little look to say “thank you for caring for me and for loving me” They know I am doing everything I can, so I have to remember that. Lots of love to you - from Far north QLD Australia ❤

This video showed up at the perfect time. My beloved Matilda passed away yesterday and I am heartbroken. She was crippled and couldn’t walk due to a malformation in her legs. She became my sidekick and lived in my office in a fluffy bed. I sang to her and held her everyday and took her outside when the weather was nice. I was able to give her all the extra cuddles the last couple of days and was crushed when she passed. My 3 year old twin grand babies had just learned how to sing her special song I made up that I sang to her multiple times a day. ;( they are going to be so sad when they come back and she isn’t here. 😢

My last memory of my Ginger the 3 year old Rhode Island Red was her walking up to me and hoping on my leg to roost while I had her in my bathroom. She tilted her head to look at me as if to say thank you. The next day I held her on my lap and played classical music for her. I gave her a drop of water with a syringe, and she made a yelp and died. I still cry when I recall. I feel we are put on this earth to look after all types of living thing. I've lost countless furry and feathered friends and even to this day... I remember all of them and miss them. There is something awesome and special about each animal. Their little personalities and quirks. But in spite of the sadness that comes with losing them... there is always something to smile about them. Know that they were happy with you and they had the best life they could ever have.

I'm so sorry for the losses of your feathered friends. I try to remind myself and anyone else who is grieving over such a loss that their animal family member knew LOVE and had the best life possible and felt joy and gave joy, and that's surely no small thing. What you do matters to them and to us and to you. We love you and are sending you lots of hugs.

When you said you just wanted to give up I've felt the same way but like you I get so much joy from them. I have one that likes to jump on my back while cleaning. Always makes me laugh..it's good medicine for our souls. Thank you for being real and sharing your heart. You're a blessing ❤

So sorry about your sweet little feather friends. My grand daughter and I have lost several chickens and two ducks over the last several months. One duck, Chancy, we had for several years. She was so smart. She loved us and we could cradle her like a baby and she would hug us with her neck. Each one of our chickens gets a name and we are all one big family. It hurts almost unbearably to lose them, but I cant imagine life without them. Give yourself time to grieve and start healing. Keep on doing what you are so good at. Your pets need you and you need them. We are on a journey together. Thank you for all you do. I always smile when I see you have made another video! ❤

Hi, Dahlia...This is the president of Chickaritaville in Tampa, FL...I've been following you, Becky's Homestead & Carolina Coops for my year & a half chickybaby journey...I really appreciate your caring & emotion for your birds...I feel the same about my flock of 12...This seems to be the perfect healthy number for my coop & run...I have tried to add 2 & them 2 more birds but different ailments have cashed in 4 birds during the last 8mos...I cried every time!... It was so discouraging & heartbreaking...BUT...B4 ordering my 1st 12 chicks, I spent $2,000 in materials & built my own Carolina styled coop...SSSDOOOOOO...giving up is not an option!...I have come to love your birds too & ypu for how you care for them!!!...Chin up & smile...These chicky & duckybabies had their best life!

It's tough living in this world with destruction, disease and death. Having children, animals, gardens, they all call on us to live with both the joy that comes with the relationships and the pain that comes with the disasters. Find comfort in knowing you gave them the best life possible while you had them and your mission to provide for those who remain. Blessings Sister.....

I’m so sorry Dahlia, I’m struggling with loss and sickness too right now. Mine is of the human kind. I have also found healing in my chicken yard. I too have had a lot of positive change in my health and mental health over the last two years.
It is so tough to loose the ones we love. Whether feathered or not. 😢
Hugs my comrade in arms. 🤗. Keep fighting the good fight. It’s through love that we win. That’s the biggest lesson I’m learning. Never let loss and grief of any kind stop you from loving. 🥰 🤗.

Out of 3 chickens we have 1 left, the smallest chicken that thinks she's the boss. She's 10 years old, Chikita, named by our granddaughter. We have come very close to her, so we understand your grief. She has survived a hawk attack, having an undeniable alarm that sends me running to her aid at breakneck speed, from anywhere on the property. Our trip to the coop in the morning and evening to greet her is something I will miss (someday we know not when). You are one of my favorite youtubers, so grateful to watch your real life love of animals.

    Dear Sweet Dalia
I know it is tough losing animals. Please remember the overall good that you bring to all the birds in your yard as well as us human creatures who adore you and what you do. I have been following you for over 5 years and love your spirit and joy with your birds. You are my first stop when u have bird questions. So thank you. My healing has been very slow so I understand how trying it can be. Anything that keeps you thriving is so vastly important. You are greatly loved and respected.

My father came from a farming family but raised us in the suburbs. When I was a teenager and expressed my desire to one day live "in the country" because of all the birds, bees, baby animals, etc (the idyllic view), I'll never forget he said, "Be prepared; there's a lot of death on the farm." I couldn't imagine what he meant, but now I know. I'm so sorry for your loss. It never gets easier, but the joy we get is worth it. 💔
