Aye that's my grandpa! It's a beautiful farm we always love visiting he is an amazing man! And by the way yes you can tell his beef is soooo much better then store bought! You can tell the difference it tastes and makes you feel so much better it's just all together better for you

Unfortunately I live a couple hours away so I don't get to the farm as often as I would like so I don't get to see all the behind the scenes but I'm pretty sure I remember him saying something years ago about when it's real hot he gives them salt? Like I said you would have to ask him i just know he has a specific reason for doing it when he does I just can't recall it right now
That's my father in law! He is a great man,very wise, and a 1 of a kind. We live a few hours from him and visit when we can.

These are the folks we should be listening to, the old timers who don’t overcomplicate everything. This man hadn’t even heard of daily rotation nor cared about the nutritional makeup of his pastures lol. I feel like we make stuff too hard too often by jumping on trends.
That is so true!!! I was even confused asking him, and I giggled as he was said, I just focus on the grass and life cycle of parasites. And how he watches for spider webs literally knocked me off my feet! I could have talked to him for hours longer!!
This man is a bad ass hard man. Full of wisdom would have loved a dad like this man would have squeezed every ounce of wisdom he had in him.

I love how he worked for the man for 6 years to leave the man and join the farm. He’s happy and healthy and self sufficient with out chem/gmo or any other BS, just clean living. Love this man!

We really aren’t picky about the types of farmers we ask to come visit, but I think our focus of talking WITH the farmer, without an agenda or interview based questions, allows them to just be themselves, to share their authentic story. And that’s why we do this, these stories aren’t being told and they should be!! Anyway, Jesse is amazing and such a great person! We are so grateful for the time we got to spend with him! ❤️

Thanks, this young man gets more work done by breakfast than most men do all day long! You know why I know that? My dad taught me that a fartin horse will never tire, a fartin man is the man to hire! My farm/house is 1/2 mile from Redmond minerals, can smell garlic when they make their garlic infused salt.

I had a very small one man business yrs ago Me that was it 365. I used to occasionally hire help and pay them with $ and buy their lunch, feed your help and they'll come back. When helping with wheat harvest the farmers wives came out twice a day and feed us the help. You need to understand human nature along with nature itself. You can't expect anyone else to do anything you're not willing to do yourself. Life will teach you lessons if you pay attention 😊

I was thinking him not wanting to hire. He was talking to a 28 year old.
Now imagine Greg Judy or Joel Salatin talking to him. Really appreciating and plenty of been there done that.

Absolutely. That’s a good thought too about talking to someone older, maybe. But also, I think he genuinely loves the work he does and while he slows down some of his enterprises, I don’t think he’ll ever stop to retire. ❤️

I was one of the farmers who drove my tractor to Washington. During those years, every crop we grew would guarantee a loss at our county's average yield. Interest rates were as high as 18%.
The Carter Administration's 1977 Farm bill was the beginning of the end for so many of us. The Reagan Administration followed with (Mourning in America) and a stated policy to remove 800,000 farmers from the land because we were viewed as the "excess resources of agriculture".
We were sent to town to compete with non farm workers. The most powerful forces of industry created a system of constant job competition by purposefully driving us off the land by force, and not for better opportunities. This effectively drove down the price of labor. We were pawns in their chess game and we became their collateral damage. Looking back, we can see when and how the middle class of America began to fracture.
Farmers, for the most part, are taught to be price takers in the market. What will you "give" me, is always the primary marketing plan.
Farmers sell everything at wholesale prices and buy everything at retail prices.
Producers of storable commodities produce an annual supply in advance of a one day demand, so the market treats the inventory as a surplus, when in fact, surpluses and shortages rarely occur, and almost never last, because America is a breadbasket.
Jesse was smart enough to stay out the invisible snare that caught and choked so many of us. Sadly, it appears that no one is prepared to continue his legacy.
I noticed that Jesse referred to cows as union workers, inferring that union workers are lazy.
We need to remind Jesse that without American Unions, his railroad job would have been less rewarding, making the purchase of his farm more difficult.

Big farm corporation/and slaughterhouse manage this around the world. You can buy meat in Uruguay, argentina from
Canada and 🇺🇸. And meat from brazil or uruguay here in usa. Non corporate big farmers and costumer around the world need to connect and help each other. And past wisdom to young future farmers
