yak films specifically said that they didnt pay enough attention to the bboy style, thats why there is more bboy videos this month, now yak films has a more open range of dance styles so thats a good thing.
like tremerin1 said, bboying is one of the 4 cornerstones of hip-hop cultures back in the 70s along with MC-ing, graffiti, and DJ-ing. Locking is surely influential to modern hip-hop but it comes from funk culture in California as well as popping. Watch "The Freshest Kids" mate, you'll learn more about it. Knowing your root is always recommended :D
Technically they did battle but it was Thesis and Flexum (The Bucho Brothers) vs Domkey and Toyz (LoZ). But I wanna see them go one on one in an exhibition
Ever heard of locking? Locking has been around since 1969 and is very influential in hip hop, breaking has been around since the late 1970's. So I'm afraid to say that breaking isn't the 'first hip hop dance style ever created'. Locking was.
not the first, it was the first created to hip hop music, but locking is considered a street dance and was adopted in hip hop culture, and it was created in the 60's.
No prob, and yeah lol thats what i meant by sets. i thought when you said "rehearsed" u were referring to the same concept or principle as choreography, but in that case then yeah pretty much. a bboy cant straight out bust intricate moves like that spontaneously. :)
Defining if a bboy is a bboy or not has nothing to with how he (or she) calls the moves or genre of dancing, that is very superficial and inmature. It's all about expression and passion. A true bboy, or BREAKDANCER (fuck the terms) is the one who dances because he or she loves to dance and move this way.
@14diogo14 Locking was invented before Breaking, but it wasnt apart of HipHop culture (Because hiphop wasnt invented yet -__-) Bboying is the first dance in the hiphop culture.
That's only partially correct. Every bboy has a set or two or even 10. They plan sets so they don't repeat moves during a battle. Freestyle more happen in cyphers. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying they're only doing sets, but they do have sets and they can use them at times needed.
Is this freestyle or rehearsed? Another thing: I want to see zoom-ins on certain body parts incorporating slow motion. It would make it look much, much cooler.
Domkey is sooo awesome :O See you soon
this guy is amazing! fresh moves, fluidity, musicality, power and grace. perfect!
