Please keep this content up! I am loving the videos and enjoy someone not just using expensive spill paints 😂. This video helped out so much even though I did paint my Glorfindel differently.
Oh thank you kindly, thats nice of you to say :):) Well i shall keep plugging away and creating these videos to help and hopefully entertain people along the way. Please do share with anyone that may get some use from the video too! :):)
Glad that you liked it! :) Sometimes it's just getting the paints and and having a play to see what works. I hope that your Elrond mini comes out great! :):)
Thanks very much! Yeh i had a play with the colour and thought it would be subtle enough to add a variation of gold that doesn't use a brown or flesh wash :)
You really do an amazing job with these videos. Obviously your painting is great, ut the way you explain it makes me feel confident enough to try. Then I remeber im not that good and hold off. To worried to paint my new elf boys right now. Maybe someday.
Thank you very much, i'm glad that they come across ok for people to watch :) I wouldn't worry about that at all, when i first began i was shocking, and as I painted the next mini and the next i got that little bit better and more confident with my skills - but just enjoy it, thats the main thing about painting little toy soldiers! Let me know how you get on when you do :):)
Thank you very much! :) Glad to see that you liked the end result. It definitely helps when the details of the miniature are very clean and crisp, it just makes it a delight to paint :):)
Awesome content! I discovered your channel a few weeks ago, and you do a wonderful job every time. You definitely made me want to dive into the Lord of the Rings hobby. I'm now looking for a base set (if anyone has this in those drawers, gathering dust, I'm in !). Sorry for my approx. English... Liked and subscribed from France ! Kepp goin" !
Thank you very much! Im glad that the videos would inspire you to try out Lord of the Rings :) A really good set is the up and coming Starter Box set "Battle of Osgiliath" which has two forces, new character sculpts, the rules and some terrain - which is pretty good value! I hope that you will enjoy Middle Earth miniatures, what do you currently do in the hobby? :):)
@@SwordsandBrushes i've Seen the box about Osgiliath. It looks pretty cool ! Currently, im painting some boardgames (War of the Ring, Journeys in Middle-Earth, Zombicide... ) and skirmishes games (Alkemy, GuildBall...).
Yesterday I saw some guy’s Glorfindel painting and he said he did it with airbrush. I have to say that the finish between airbrush and brush is significant.
Love both ways, i tend to use an airbrush where i can, and then for videos i do a bit of everything so there is a bit of variety for hobbyists to watch :):)
Thank you kindly! My schedule completely went out the window, i was hoping to have started my Rohan bunch of videos by now with one of them covering White Horses. Hope to do it soon though! :)
Vielen Dank! Es hat auf jeden Fall Spaß gemacht! :) Hallo aus Großbritannien! Wenn das auf Deutsch falsch rüberkommt, dann gib bitte Google Translate die Schuld! Haha
Hey there, love your content! I think maybe it would be nice if you put some more "chill" music over it since it is quite laid back content. Thank you so much for all the tips and your miniatures truly look stunning !
Thank you very much :) Yes i was thinking about the backing track a few videos ago, i like the chilled out idea! :):) Perhaps i use the drum track as i am always frantically painting haha :)
Whoop welcome to miniature painting! hope you are enjoying it so far? :):) A very good question! I think i should make that into a mini video for some clarity for newcomers :) I use a small pin vice drill to create a small hole (don't go all the way through the model/component) so its just enough to allow a paperclip to go into it. Then it is superglued on, and I use a cork to handle it whilst painting. Hope that helps a bit, and please do throw any questions my way and i will be happy to help as i'm sure others would be too that see your questions in the comments also :):)
@@SwordsandBrushes I think a full video on stuff like this newbies would be great stuff like techniques tools brushes watering down making models anything you can think off for someone new coming in
For removing it, it comes off the paper clip easily enough with a bit of force applied. And then i use a hobby knife to take off any glue which may be left over. Then it's simply glued into place on the model. its better to drill the holes on the areas which will not be seen once the miniature has been completely assembled after painting. You don't always need to do this, but now and again it helps :)
Hey, just looking through all your TH-cam videos! 😂👍🏼 I have just one more question, do you always mix the warpaints with water when highlighting? Or do you end up drawing the lines without water? I think that was my mistake, I never diluted the color for highlighting and then always had visible layers.. thank you very much!
Thank you very much, hope that you are getting some use out of them :) Good question! Yes i use clean water pretty much all the time for thinning the paints down, i find that it works well enough for what i want the end result to be. A little trick would be to have the paint thin enough that it goes into the bristles near the top of the brush. If you find any paint sitting outside (or on top of the bristles) then the paint may be ever so slightly too thick and you may end up with the visible layers as the paint will end up not being 100% smooth :) :)
Is there any reason you use army painter paints? Every other tutorial uses citadel paints and all I’ve heard is people hate on army painter paints. I’ve used both and honestly I’m impartial to either but maybe that’s because I’m new to the hobby
Good question! And welcome to this fine hobby! :) I have used both - Citadel for about 15 years and Army painter for about 3, I find that the actual paint from both companies is perfect for what i need them to do for my hobby. For me personally the reason why I go for Army painter is that they are less expensive but you get 1/3 more in a pot (which is great because I paint A LOT! haha) They have a great colour match to their coloured spray cans so this is a nice time saver straight away, and because they are a paint company- i think they put all of their efforts into creating products that help painters of all varieties - which i find very useful too, especially the range of colours! They also produce some nice sets, including starter sets for new comers to the hobby - but it's nice when they release a new products such as a skin tones paint range - you can buy it in a set and it comes in a nice ox, with a brush a useful guide on how to use them - and just the general presentation of them is a nice gift too :) Oh and also, they use dropper bottles instead of an old 90''s "lid" paint pot style, so if you accidentally knock over your wash paint pot - its not going to cover your beautiful painting desk haha Hope that helps a bit :):)
Darn i should have said sash instead of loin cloth, my mind went blank with that one haha Yes you could totally do the whole thing in the Jade green colour, that would look nice! :):)

was this done on a black undercoat or white?
Just a spray of gold undercoat for the miniature and blue for the cloak :)
Does anybody else think the design of Glorfindel was inspired by Ser Authur Dayne or is it just me.
It’s a great looking miniature
Definitely a great looking miniature for sure! Ser Authur Dayne would probably be closer than my Green Goblin reference haha
Amazing paint job! And yes the different skin tones sound like a very good idea (especially for youtube shorts ?)
