According to Wikipedia, this game got bad critics. WTF?! I played the shit out of it because I loved it! The music is great, and the graphics are top notch for Game Boy standards. But also the gameplay is awesome. Street Fighter on Game Boy couldn't hold a candle to this!
Ironically, this game does look pretty good on its own merits, though. Still, I wish the characters from this game, as well as Martial Champion, Fighting Bujitsu/WuShu, Dragoon Might, Mystic Warriors, and Metamorphic Force, and more realistic looking versions of Lightning Legend: Daibo's Great Adventure characters, would appear in a game together, along with all new fighters, and maybe other classic Konami characters, in a game that is called Martial Melee, Martial Champion 2: Fight of Eternity, or Fighting Society.
Here are the characters that would be in this game: Metamorphic Force: Ban, Claude, Max, and Ivan, plus the bosses from that game, such as Baphomet, Firebird (which may be renamed Phoenix), Daton (a.k.a., Robotic Guardian), Cyclonio (a.k.a., Cyclops, except he has one head this time around, and not two), Asmara (a.k.a., Demoness Wrestler), Decrepto (a.k.a., Skeleton Warrior), Death Shadow, and Dark Dragon, Mystic Warriors: Spyros, Kojiro, Keima, Brad, and Yuri, plus the bosses from that game, such as Ember (a.k.a., SKULL flamethrower), Blastoff (a.k.a., SKULL rocketeer), Red Death (a.k.a., Red masked ninja), Aquarius (a.k.a., SKULL watercraft boss), Shock Value (a.k.a., SKULL shocker), Sensoka (a.k.a., SKULL samurai's war machine, particularly its pilot), Techon (a.k.a., the SKULL train pilot/conductor), Yami (a.k.a., the blue member of the SKULL trio), Moto (a.k.a., the yellow member of the SKULL trio), and Hiro (a.k.a., the big white member of the SKULL trio), Shuriken (a.k.a., Ninja with giant shuriken), Koga (a.k.a., the robot samurai), and Barron Scully (a.k.a., the Skull Enterprises CEO), Martial Champion: Avu, Bobby, Chaos/Titi, Goldor, Hoi, Jin, Mahamba, Rachael, Titi/Chaos, Zen, and Salamander, Yie Ar Kung Fu: Buchu, Star, Nuncha, Pole, Feedle, Chain, Club, Fan, Sword, Tonfun, Blues, Wang, Tao, Chen, Lang, Wu, Mu (has his own unique moveset now), Shawn, Bishoo, Clayman, Katana, and Lee /Wulong/Oolong/Young, Yie Ar Kung Fu II: Richard, Taro, Master Oja, Yen Pei, Lan Fang, Po Chin, Wen Hu, Wei Chin, Mei Ling, Han Chen, and Li Jen, Crime Fighters: Chaz (the blue guy), Jamie (the yellow guy), Devon (the red guy), and Marcos (the green guy), plus Fury (a.k.a., the mohawk wearing first boss), Frenzy (a.k.a., the second boss), Harley (a.k.a., the third boss), Killstreak (a.k.a., the fourth boss), Mauler (a.k.a., the fifth boss), Knockout (a.k.a., the sixth boss), Warhawk (a.k.a., the seventh boss), James Gouley (a.k.a, the sub-boss of the last stage), and Richard Dooley (a.k.a., the last boss), Crime Fighters 2/Vendetta: Blood (the red guy), Hawk (the blue guy), Boomer (the red guy), and Sledge (the green guy), plus Buzzsaw Bravado, Joe Ohsugi, (The Missing) Link, Ronnie and Lonnie (a.k.a., the small and big Rude Bros.), Kurt "Kruel Kurt" Krueller, and Faust, Crime Fighter 3/Violent Storm: Wade (the blue guy), Boris (the red guy), and Kyle (the green guy), plus Dabel, Joey Butcher (formerly Joe), Drigger (who may or may not be The Missing Link from the previous game), Doyle, Mr. Julius, Sledge, Red Fredy, and Geld, Dragoon Might: Yamato, Tsugumi, Kodama, Tekkamen, Reggie, Layla, Ryan, Suiko, Drake, Sarumaru, Jaoh, Zack, and Dogma, Poy Poy 1 and 2: Harry, Joey, Arnold, Mia, Cindy, Kage, Kool, Poison, D.D., Deco, Ten Ten, Mike, Bull, Apache, Sammy (formerly Shane), Cutey, Yamada, Sanpey, Wize, Lee Roy (formerly Lee), Naomi, Steel, Golem, King, Batsu (the red Stage Killer), Tetsu (the blue Stage Killer), Kaz (the gray Stage Killer), and Kali, G.A.S.P.!!: Fighters' NEXTream/Deadly Arts: Kai, Kyoya, Kaoru, Serina, Azami, Kongoh, Miki, Sakai, Gouriki, and Ohgami Reiji/Hikari/Yami, Lightning Legend: Daibo's Great Adventure: Daigo Raioh, Yuki Shirogane, Mayu Uzaka, Adolf Ratsel, Rankerk "Hatred" Hatari, Terry "a.k.a., Mr. Terrific, a.k.a., The Forelock King" Foreman, Misa Atago, Moko Moko, Risa Atago, Nau "Naughty" Nazuhiro, Girigiri Oyaji, Oni Doragon (Demon King Dragless), and K.O.J. Fighting Bujutsu/WuShu: Youn, Tsubaki, Sho-Fu, Shin-Kue, Stinger (formerly Scorpion), Hitomi (formerly Hibiki), Tetsushin, Setsuna, Hua-Yue, Heifu, Ran-Fun, and Cobra. Raging Fighter/Outburst: Shades, Bulk, Miyabi, Vandal, Aska, Ruoh, Hsing Chao Tao (formerly Tao), and Guliga. I think that, with a bit of work, Konami could come up with its own take on Capcom's Vs. games, as well as SNK Playmore's King of Fighters from these characters in a video game.
A relative was in Singapore or Hong Kong (I can no longer remember) and gave this as a gift. The cartridge had many games on it and this was the last game in the list, 'Street Fighter III'.. although upon starting it was clearly called 'Outburst'
It's kind of surprising to think there were more fighting games on the original Game Boy then the NES considering the difference in hardware and colours. The animation's not too shabby either.
Also pretty curious that Konami didn't make a Ninja Turtles Tournament Fitghters version for the gameboy, featuring Michaelangelo's face on the cover art (there are versions for the Snes, Genesis, and Nes featuring the other Turtles' faces)
@@egfelixdcg what's weird that sprite design is the same as tournament fighters, especially when characters fall on the floor. I wonder if this is the concept game and came before tournament fighters on nes.
@@egfelixdcg after doing research, raging first came out in 1993 a few months, before tornament fighters snes and genesis, the nes version was released in 1994, so i guess they decided to port this engine over. hah oh man this had so much advertising in the magazines I'll never forget. yet never seen any gameplay or screenshots, thanks! looks a LOT like Undercover Cops which is a good thing, I loved those graphics.
This is a real obscure gem. There's a lot to unroll. Konami released it as the very first 1 vs 1 SF2 style fighting game for the Gameboy. Before it, the only 1 vs 1 on the console were Panza, Fighting Simulator and Hokuto No Ken, but none of these featured the SF2 style. The italian version of C+VG magazine made an horrible fail, they published a fake review claiming that only three characters were present in the game. That was obviously false, as one month later the italian version of ACE rated the game 93% saying it was absolutely impressive. Konami did a work of art here, they made a massive recycle of graphical assets to have enough room on the console's memory, but in the end they actually came up with a blast. I spent days trying to finish the game with all the characters although some of them weren't very competitive. And yeah, it sucks that there's no final boss nor a dedicated ending for each fighter, but that's it. However, this game opened the road and like a year later Capcom came up with their horrible SF2 conversion, but later we got excellent fighting games on GB, like KOF '95 and '96 which are amazing to me. It's a pity Konami never came back on this title, neither for a little cameo, I hope they will change their mind soon or later :)
Chat, I'm very heavily conditioned on OG Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat, so this would track......Tell me why my brain, for the first 15-20 minutes, put the health and time at the top of screen 😭` I'm still convinced that I witnessed a live Mandela Effect 😭

The critics probably worked for Game Informer or IGN, or maybe those hack PAL region video game/PC game magazines.
Wow, this game have great soundtrack.
One of he best on Game Boy, actually. Probably the best Konami soundtrack on the console, in terms of sheer quantity of great tunes.
I remember getting the imported version of this game(Outburst) at a Hong Kong Duty Free store at the airport.
Very impressive fighting game for Gameboy!!

the graphics are very good. The pictures of the characters on the select screen are very detailed drawings.

hands down the best 1v1 fighting game on gameboy

I don't understand HOW a fighting game can even make it on either console, considering the controller only has TWO buttons.
