Wow, I miss those days. 1987 and early 1988 were the best years for freestyle for me I was 14 and 15 years old those years once I got my drivers license at 16 I kind of abandoned my bike I’m not even sure what happened to my Haro master, to be honest. I had a 1987 black and red Haro master. And just a little fun fact if back to the future came out right now, they would be going back to 1993. How scary is that? So 1988 is even further back ouch. Miss those days so much.
Thanks for uploading those videos of the cream of flatland and freestyle bmx, for me this video and 101 tricks part 1 and 2 are the best videos of all time to start learning about this discipline.
I also think freestyle BMX became less popular when the tricks became way more advanced for the average person. It literally did become stunt riding after a while. I prefer the old riding the cherry pickers the Miami hoppers even though flatland is more advanced now it basically all looks the same. I want to see someone standing on the handlebars backwards with 1 foot now more balanced tricks.
what a good comment about the popularity of bmx freestyle where you say and it seems very true to me the issue of advanced tricks made only one elite group advance and the other group found it difficult to advance and from there the motivation went down, thanks for the comment
I think there was a better quality video on Vimeo. Edit: Not taking away from your efforts, just letting others know there's a version of this on Vimeo that has near perfect quality for a late 80s VHS tape. It's quite amazing.
