I like how they made Eggman more human in this game.
Of course in some recent titles, we have eggman as this "Only fun bad guy and get upset when loosing" type of villain, but to see him get attached to sage and even upset seeing her perish was something I appreciate.
Also that line at the end "That's my girl" was a nice touch.
Also when sonic is about to die he comes to help since he thinks that without sonic its just boring taking over the world since knuckles is strong but not as fast as sonic tails before he was kinda brave like my guy literally flied a plane and didnt die at a explosion when he was 9 year olds in sonic 2 and now he is a coward so it woulf be really easy for eggman to capture the 2 and his friends and it would be boring
Eggman in a way is a character that rally dose not know what he wants. In fact their has been multiple occasions where he said he could have easily defeated sonic. In fact he pointed out that if he wanted to. He could just Commit extermantus on mobius and be done with it. But it is just not his style. why he prefers to make all sorts of convoluted plots that end up failing most of the time.
Good example of this is when he fraught Sterling in IDW. Not only did he out smart him with very little effort. Defeating him after sterling took over every single robot in his army. He even manage to defeat every single ace in the whole sterling had. Such as forcing him to do some flashy move to defeat his mech. Draining his power until he was unable to fight. Then he built goggles that are resistant to mind control. Something sterling assumed was secret as the good never shown interest in his gems. And he also showed he can physically defeat someone. As he pretty much lokied him into a pile of trash before leaving him a broken man to die.
That said, this comic showed that Eggman cares for his creations. Even the ones that didn't work out. as even thou sonic trashed his machines. He always ended up remaking them even if it was just for nostalgia. Why he has entire archives with Old robots, mechs and technology. So in a way he cares for his creations. Would explain why he still has those two moronic robot sidekicks.
Eggman in alot of ways is a character who really dose not have much of a purpose. Who he dose what he thinks is right. Which is take over the world. Rarely dose it ever work out well. but while he fails to do that. He always play a key role in saving said world. Which makes me think he would do a better job as a hero then a villain. something he really dose not take seriously at all. Hell half the time he wants to take over the world to just make a giant Amusement park.
Side note, if the good doctor just decided to go straight and make a Amusement park. He would be pretty amazing at it.

he’s also saved sonic once from falling in lava in sonic lost world i think, he has some nice wholesome experiences with eggman in games and shows, they sometimes work together to fight a bigger villain

I like how they're hinting that Sage will come back in a future title. Makes me optimistic on how they will improve on this formula.

There's no hint. Eggman took control of the spirit protocol thing that the Koco's were seen to create after their souls were to pass on. Somehow, Eggman tapped into that and was able to harness Sage's spirit. Interestingly enough, is that Sage apparently either have a soul despite being a machine, or have something similar to a soul that can be interacted with akin to normal souls, since the same symbol that would pop up when the Kocos moved on, also popped up on Eggman's computer.
And why wouldn’t they? Silver showed up in sonic forces and he wasn’t supposed to exist after the whole reboot thing with changing time and the infinite crystal in mania and forces. But then again this might be a different sonic story as shadow isn’t in this

Man, I really felt bad for Eggman in this game, at first he saw sage as just another one of his creations to take orders from but throughout the story, as Sage became more human, Eggman started to care more for her, less as a robot minion but more like she’s his own daughter and even comes to terms with calling her that. It makes me wonder, does Eggman really need to be the main bad guy anymore for the series? I get the status of how’s he’s supposed to be, but this game basically shows that he has compassion and this is the best he’s ever written in ANY of the games in the series.
I love how all the bosses in the game look like they're straight out of Neon Genesis Evangelion. Those designs are sick af.
The final boss is a planet that destroys another planets 💀 Planet X

I havent cried at a Sonic game since Sonic Adventure 2 Battle. This one really hit me, from the performance to the song... this is a beautiful game

I cant help but compare it to Sonic Adventure 2.
I love the new ending and all that. But watching Eggman stare at the ocean mourning over the death of his (basically) daughter just hits different

I love how Sonic encounters the first Titan, Giganto and Sage as enemies and Sage has Giganto straight up throw Sonic into a mountain, making him faint.
Now allied with with the last Titan, Supreme and Sage throws Super Sonic in the exact same way.

I thought I’d never see Eggman peek after SA2, not as an antagonist tho, SA2 Eggman was definitely more menacing and you could feel his presence, but in Frontiers they improved Eggman’s humanity and empathy which was only shown a few times on previous games, a part of him that he might’ve never knew had and only found out after having Sage as a daughter figure. I wonder what will he turn from now on

I love the idea that even if the final segments a button masher, it comes after a really cool final boss

I finally beat this game and I have to say this is one of the best Sonic games I’ve played in a long time. It was fun, the music was awesome, and Sage was a well written character. I’m glad this game turned out well and it was something that 3D Sonic needed after all these years.
Is the boss itself actually fun from a gameplay standpoint though? Seemed a little repetitive.
@@CheekiTiki the titan bossfights are fun and not repetitive for each bossfights sonic uses different abilities on them for wyvern super sonic use chaos chains and knight use massive chaos spears

Sage is a great character. I also like how humbled Eggman is when seeing his Arch-Nemesis Sonic.
The fact he skipped through the final boss fight and instantly went to where sonic finishes off the end was hilarious and I understand why because the this boss is so fricking hard to beat even in hard mode

@@baldaizamusic I know what you mean. Just finished the game tonight, 100% and everything, and despite the battle pissing me off to no end, it was real satisfying to finally give the End its own end XD
And the ending + song was a real tear-jerker for me, most games usually aren't. Even if it doesn't get Game of the Year, Sonic Frontiers deserves all the rewards it can get!

Kinda weird that Sonic didn’t at all acknowledge Sage’s death at the end. Whole final boss and ending also felt like they were running short on development time

There’re theories that the boss fight was going to include all the Titans in an epic showdown against The End, judging by Sonic’s motivational speech and the info prompt saying “Titans” instead of “Titan.”
Man, imagine what that fight might’ve looked like…
@@T_Dude i have a small feeling they're going to remaster the ending because you're right, the ending was rushed because sega couldn't give them any more time.
I'm glad someone else said it... Honestly the whole ending felt really underwhelming... From the last few cutscenes with Sage where he lost all expressions in his animation... To having the final boss be space invaders... It just felt rushed and it makes me kinda disappointed cuz i was expecting some insane showdown while playing as super Sonic the whole time and having Sage as back up
I also expected him to try to console Eggman or say something about Sage literally giving her life for him
But oh well

This is the first sonic game I've legit cried over at the end. I wasn't sure about how the story was going to develop, but eggman losing his supposed daughter was heartbreaking. First time i felt empathy for him

as soon as i heard Super Sonic speak to the long passed Ancients, he felt like the true hero we always knew he was. Full of Compassion and Determination. i want to see more of this kind of character in future Super sonic battles
Eggman stands alone, until Sonic walks into the scene, startling the doctor.
Sonic: Hey, doc. How are you holding up?
Eggman: Sonic!? What are you doing here!? Leave me alone!
Sonic can sense weakness in Eggman's voice, the man wearing a mournful expression on his face. Sonic sighs, his expression becoming more serious.
Sonic: Look... I just wanted to say that I'm sorry about what happened to your daughter. There was nothing I could have done. You know, she gave her life to save all of us. So, I guess we've just gotta keep going. It's what she would have wanted. Otherwise, her sacrifice would have been in vain, right?
Eggman just turns away from the hedgehog, not speaking a single word.
Sonic: ...You wanna know what her final words were? 'Please look after Father.' Heh... Who am I to turn down a dying wish? So, Eggman... I know we have our differences, but, well... Just know that I'm here for you if you ever need me.
What Sonic just said seemed to have resonated with Eggman. After a moment, the doctor turns back to face Sonic, speaking in a quiet voice.
Eggman: Thank you, Sonic.
Sonic just grins, before he chuckles to himself. After so many years of constant battling, Sonic couldn't remember the last time they shared a tender moment like this. The two watch the shooting stars soar through the sky for a little longer, before Sonic begins to slip away. But before Sonic can return to his friends, Eggman stops him.
Eggman: And just so you know, Sonic... We're still enemies. This changes nothing.
Upon hearing this, Sonic just chuckles again.
Sonic: Heh... I wouldn't have it any other way. Later days, Eggman!
Eggman: Until next time.
With that, Sonic shoots off into the distance, leaving Eggman alone once again.
I wish that was part of the ending. I'm sure it happened off-screen though. (◠‿◕)

20 years after Sonic Adventure 2, it was so emotional. But 30 years... Wow, i can say that is awesome ! Since 1991 to 2023, it maded history of the videogame franchise.
On hard mode, you actually get a boss fight with the moon.
It suddenly becomes Ikaruga.

going here when suddenlie a though come on m' head that think "what happen to sage after she sacrifice herself?". and knowing she's back(atleast in a computer) i felt relieved.
When I finished the game and was watching the end credits, I was genuinely sad about Sage dying but then at 12:52 they name drop Sticks and I POPPED OFF WAY MORE THAN I SHOULD'VE! SHE MADE IT INTO CANON YES!

Not gonna lie the normal ending is still pretty cool. The fact that it's presented as a boss fight only for it to end in a single quick time event definitely disappoints, but rushing to destroy the shell before the rapidly regenerating true form comes out with The End's boss theme playing in the background is hella hype. Goes to show that a full boss fight with this presentation could've led to the greatest finale the series has ever seen.
Lets not push, we ALL know that sega tried to rush the game, i wouldnt be surprised if The end was a cut boss

Plus like I said, Sonic has battled Eggman so long it would not surprise him if she had a back up or some kind of "black box" function.
What interests me is, since we know that IS Sage, that implies Eggman shifted through all the falling debris from the explosion to find pieces of the Titan to retrieve her.
Thats a whole new level of tenacity for Eggman.
Hearing Sticks get introduced into the main universe is just a cherry on top of everything
I might be the only one to say this but it's kinda funny to me that Supreme wields a some kind of sniper rifle while the true final boss is called The End due to a certain game.
In the fight with The End, Supreme literally rapid fires the sniper. But this is probably due to Super Sonic’s enhancement
Supreme: For his neutral special he wield's a gun.
As something of a passive observer of this franchise so far, it is kinda cool they finally made another game, that introduces a new threat serious enough for Robotnik to help Sonic in defeating them and even grow his character into bit of a different direction by the looks of things, instead of the game having him undermine yet another one-off villain by doing a last minute take over/switcharoo, where he ends up as the final big bad instead.
It always felt like walking backwards in a sense, how we used to get these different threats of epic world ending proportions, but then the series just returned to making Robotnik the undisputed main baddie in every game again, just because that is what used to be the norm.
They... fixed completely the ending in the update 3! ITS AWESOME

Man, it's been 14 years old since Sonic Unleashed came out and Dark Gaia is still the last good final Boss in a Sonic game

@@alvaxerox4357 True. Though she might as well consider all of Eggman's creations her big family 😅 though there is a fault in that statement, because Eggman created two of the most successful/powerful AI he's ever accomplished. So of course his attachments are more closer to Metal Sonic and Sage.

Wario World is a good example of it.

@@cannabishornliu6119 Don't know about that, I actually really like when higher difficulty options substantially alter your experience with the game like this. It's both ballsy way to add some replay value and allows devs to go more mechanically crazy with stuff relegated to harder modes.

Sone might say these bosses are short, but in a way that works. The problem with sone of Sonic’s bosses is that they can take a long time to beat despite the ambience. These are short, to the point, and freaking Metal!
That's really not what I imagined the game would look like, but this way I think it's even better.
The ending where they flew off in the plane and sonic was like I know everyone has something to do that absolutely was the perfect setup for Sonic heroes 2 🤯

Question: When you fight the end, do you get shielded against particles if you shoot the same color, as in can you get hit with no damage? Because sometimes that happens to me, and I don't know if it's because you have a set amount of HP, or if you can outplay it
