Very true. I have an acquaintance who is from New Jersey and they have that rough New Yorker type of talk and every other word was mothafukka this and
Cocksukka that and I had to tell them baby this isn’t New York this is New Orleans. You say that shit to someone here please make sure for your families sake that your life insurance is paid up because there’s a very high probability that you won’t be going home. They just couldn’t understand that here in New Orleans men don’t call other men cocksuckers in jest. There’s nothing playful or nonchalant about it. And another mistake he made was walking around like big money grip with hundreds of dollars cash kept together by a rubber band around his cards in lieu of a wallet. I told them 🤦🏻‍♀️ they said it’s a “new york thing” it’s an “Italian thing “ . Yeah ok well I see his new yorker ass finally got the hint after being in a few gas station robberies/m.rders. Now he says he wants to get the hell out of here. I bet. I bet.

As a New Orleanian, it depends on WHO THE PERSON IS. I grew up in the Magnolia projects. I don't even live in the city anymore because some of the people I grew up with were crabs in the barrel. Here's the thing: I don't hang with folks that I can have an argument with that I have to kill and vice versa. My dad is this way but he isn't from New Orleans. It's been real hard growing up and trying to have my own opinion because my dad believed that I'd I wasn't with him, I was against him. Which isn't how it works at all.
He tried to fight my husband because he didn't agree that baseball was the most American sport. I don't even know why my dad got so upset, he doesn't even watch baseball. I bet he couldn't even tell you a team.
My dad also believes that some day my brother and I are going to shoot him in the chest because it happened to a friend of his. I'd never do something like that even when I lost my baby and could've blamed him, I never once thought to do something so crazy and stupid. But my dad would so I'm constantly afraid he's going to get me before I get him.
And my family wonders why I don't want to come around.

It won't happen because soon as we try to focus on this, everybody else wants to say. We're being racist. Or All lives matter to over shadow our healing, and a chance for us to have unity, and we let them get away with it everytime. Plus they know our unity throws a monkey wrench in their corrupt legal system. Prisons will become more empty. Police will loose jobs. The crime rate will fall etc. And the leaders of this country don't want us healing at all.

And it’s truly sad. We just had an 8 year old shot yesterday at 6 pm just walking in the sidewalk. Not the intended target but he was just minding his business not to far from a crowded train station. My son has lost two peers from his school in a two month time frame. It’s sad, and now those boys lives have been cut short and families left grieving amongst the others killed in the name of a fight that should of happened and been squashed. But ego, and being labeled a demon and being feared is more important now in days.

What he said is so true, I had a family friend and who grew up with me and my siblings and we all went to the same after school program together and he’d always come kick it with my family at our house. At some point he moved to New Orleans to live with a family member, and one day he was just hanging out with people who I guess were his new friends he had made and they played video games and I guess a guy who had lost the game had to pay up because it was a bet they had made and the guy didn’t want to pay and it turned into a whole argument and my family friend (won’t say his name) was murdered on the spot. Me and my sisters found out about it due to Facebook and it was on the news in New Orleans as well. We were all sooo hurt about that because he did not deserve that and it shows how sick people can be. This was year back in like 2013, but seeing this video confirms what he said. That’s when I met a female from the N’O, she had just got in trouble with the police, but I didn’t let that stop me. ( I was young, she was fine) I slipped my number to her as they took her out the club. She called me, I think it was our first conversation and I asked her why her city attitude was so “ don’t give a f’ about life”? Her response was “ you acting like a bitch right now”! That was enough for me to never talk to a woman from there again.

I would assume the crime out there is more organized(idk) but ik when bloods & crips strolled in B.R & N.O, they got rolled right back out. Not only that. Our schools are associated with thier surroinding neighborhood. For example, Glen Oaks HS, has its own hood. Scotlandville HS, has its own hood and so on.
