    The Best way to deburr a freshly machined sharp edge is to rub your finger back and forth against the edge a whole bunch of times

    Best Line " If you go to fast, You can just... just destroy some shit so fast it will scare you" - Dino from Hackaweek
    Take this to heart, it doesn't matter what in what project you do, take your time, don't rush... you can hurt yourself, or someone else or the project you are trying to create.
    Great video again... who ever thought about turning it upside down, good idea... car engines don't always have that luxury to be able to do this, it doesn't always work.
    Keep it up! I want to see this completed!!!

    Shamus said it right. That engine is coming along nicely. That milling machine is a brilliant piece of old tech. Really good of your mate to give you access to it

    Total respect to the attention to details. These videos are less "immediate" compared to the last build but in a way they are more educational. Very cool.

    If you think it's heavy now, just wait until you put it back in the frame! :D
    I enjoy watching your videos, Dino! I also have a 73 cb750 that I have been tinkering with for the past few years. Watching what all you have done brings back memories of all the headaches and busted knuckles I have endured the past two years. Haha
    Can't wait to see it finished!
    Keep on Hackin!

    Am I the only one having trouble viewing this video? All of your other videos work, but this one, for some reason, just keeps giving me the pinwheel of infinite wait.

      For diagnostic purposes, the DieHard battery commercial shows up fine before the pinwheel starts, so nothing wrong with my computer's video.

    Dean great job I'm restoring my 73 CB750 at the same time you are. The frame is powder coated with new bearings. I rebuilt the wheels and the front forks the same time you did they came out great. All finished with the swing arm. Lots of cleaning, tapping all the threaded parts ordered all new stainless hardware. A lot of money in rechroming. I'm a little behind on the engine I just cleaned the pistons and put new rings on. The head has been rebuilt thank you for the heads up on the oil restrictors I have them and this week I'm going to home the cylinders. Any ideas on what silver paint to use on the engine itself and where to get it. I really enjoy your videos, I'm ready for the next one. Brian Bowers - Florida

      Glad you're enjoying the videos Brian. Check out Cerakote. Go here: www.cerakotehightemp.com/
      Click on "Shop Colors" and then "High Temperature Air Cure Coatings". It actually helps dissipate the heat.

    Don't forget to put the seal on the crank on the points side before you stick the case halves together .... It's got a shoulder on it and can't be put in afterwards ... ask me how I know. lol

    Could it affect the bearing surface of the pistons, ie give it more slap? Dunno, just askin'? Lovin' the series and you are inspiring me! Can't afford what i want so thinking about making something out of a crash repairable.

  • @Eeropolvasti

    So, you had to do this, because you wanted different connecting roda in there, which are not for Hondas??? And they are much lighter?/More power??/ Just wondering....., good job! Thanks, youtheman =)???

    • @skippygirl959
      @skippygirl959 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Eero Laukkanen he had to get different rods because the screws on the original ones are obsolete and they are torque screws so he couldnt re-use the old ones because they have already expanded. So he had to get new rods

  • @Mekhanic1
    @Mekhanic1 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    Won't using lighter rods make the crank counter weights unbalanced?

    • @DeanSegovis
      @DeanSegovis 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mekhanic1 Yes, but in this case it shouldn't be much of an issue. The big end of these rods probably weigh in about the same as the stock rods. I'll be checking that before final assembly. Here's a great article on engine balancing: www.enginebuildermag.com/2014/03/weighing-balancing-work/

  • @nutmegger1957
    @nutmegger1957 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    I understand the logic of cutting away at the cylinders because the new Connecting Rods would hit them. Just wondering.........couldn't you have trimmed down the Connecting Rods, to get clearance, rather than machining the Cylinder heads?

    • @RichardHeadGaming
      @RichardHeadGaming 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +nutmegger1957 You would have had to clearance the rod beam not the end, which would weaken the rod. Removing that small part of the skirt is not going to effect anything but make it tougher going over the rings on final installation.

  • @engineer002
    @engineer002 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    couldnt help thinking with a base gasket on you may have had the clearance after the first pass

    • @DeanSegovis
      @DeanSegovis 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Simon Snell Base gasket is pretty thin. I'd rather have more clearance than I need.
