Thou hast captured the desperate aching beauty of the song with wondrous skill. Verily, I have oft felt that many melodies of The Smiths bear a likeness to the airs of medieval and Victorian times, and thou hast here ensnared that essence most perfectly. Well done, indeed!
It's weird how the Smiths bardcore actually sounds like something that Medieval English bards would play in taverns. Really puts things into historical perspective
yeah a lot of British music of that era had a deeply reactionary, medieval revivalist strain that is quite hard to originally identify. A lot of prog rock is based off of medieval composition styles
There is a light that never goes out? That is the soul. A flame that may fade, but never extinguish. Even the weakest cinder, shall be the greatest inferno. It is a invisible fire indeed, but it burns within us all.
I had this sort of experience once, in college. A girl I dated, an aspiring actress, had invited me to her aunt's wedding. I felt so special since it's a big deal to be introduced to a girl's family, and I thought that at last I had found true love... so happy at the thought that a beautiful girl could love a lovesick loser like myself. Whenever I was with her, I felt so wonderful. She told me that she'd never been treated as well as I treated her. As she drove me home, I was so happy, yet I did not want the night to end. I was just so happy to be next to her and smile. I gazed at her and tuned out the world outside the car. The motion outside the car's windows with the world passing by was like a surreal blur. It was almost as though for that short while, the universe consisted of only her and I, for all I cared. I just wanted to freeze that moment in time, with the happiness my heart had found with this lovely girl. On the way home, there was one song I had on my mind. I didn't want her to take me home, but to be with her. Alas, she was an actress, and she was not honest with herself, nor me.
I can imagine Robert the Bruce prancing around a fire to this after consuming copious amounts of ale, getting all sentimental about Scottish Independence. Battered.
Now they are The Blacksmiths

Beautiful and morrissey is timeless , poetic and would fit right in back in those times. The Belfast poet Andrew Beattie 😉.
The genius of Morrissey, the genius of Marr.
