Stolen from the forum’s- In short, other than that there isnt much difference between a 2g dsm besides the slightly higher compression ratio and the fact that they dont have crankwalk problems. As you said they have a bigger turbo, and also bigger injectors. The final drive ratio is different in the trannys, 1st gear also has a closer ratio to 2nd gear (ie your first gear will go to like 35-37mph)... But with the lower final drive ratio you also need the rear diff gears and you get a much lower top speed. I'm not sure but theres probably a difference in the VC which is very expensive and something you dont want to burn up (you can use a Viscious coupling elimnator in most cases) Besides the shift forks and double synchros on 3rd and 4th in some cases the tranny isnt really much stronger, but its longer 1st gear helps some like a GVR4 tranny.

How reliable are the evo 2-3’s? Do they run the same trans as the gen 2 eclipse’s do here in the states?
Don’t quote me but pretty sure they’re different and everything is beefier on the Evos since they were built for the WRC
