Think the Bonnevill will get a little tiresome on a long trip. Nice for a Sunday pootle on the twisties. Even though the NX has some buffeting, it woll still be better than the bonneville.
Great series as these are all bikes that I too am contemplating. Question regarding the Transalp, did you try the ride modes? My understanding is that you can really neuter the throttle by setting the ride mode at 1 or 2. Either in rain mode or in the customizable mode. This might give newer riders like you and I a less intimidating experience.
Thanks, appreciate it. Unfortunately not, I only ran it in standard mode. Unfortunately in an hour's test ride you really don't get to do much, the time goes very quickly. I guess for me the intimidation comes from the size and weight rather than power. I feel that good throttle and clutch control should be able to manage power.
THX for your vids! You get used really quick to Power and with ride by wire you can tame the bike for your need. In my opinion better choice than soon switching bike cause it gets "boring" I started in 2019 with an NTV650 with 57 HP and 2 years later i bought cb1000r with 145 HP. I Was so scared whether I made a mistake cause of the Power. But today you have modes and the Rest is in your wrist. And more horse Power and cc enables also superior crusing I rode the Triumph, cb500x and the Transalp. Last one in my opinion is the bestout of them and what I would recommend to you. Once you get used to Quickshifter you dont want to miss it! Ride save and stay healthy✌️
Seems to bulky with that big front wheel & has tube tires 👎 Oil sump is like upside down pimple 😂 Every time you turn bike off you have to reset modes 🤦♂️ Bike needs to refine it & give it more torque down low 💪 CB500X is 10x better 🙌
Personally, I’m in the process of choosing between an NX500 and the Transalp. Whilst the NX is great for basically everything, if you’re bagging up and/or taking 2 up at times you will notice that effect on the NX, whilst any similar work or European motorway work will be much more relaxing on the Transalp. Remember, traffic moves at 130kph in France. Likewise, hitting the mountains favours the Transalp. Mine will be based in Prades, south of France (right next to the mountains) but I live in Brussels, so the occasional long hack will feature. Both will do light off-road in a similar fashion. Frankly, I’d want both in the garage for different types of day, but I am favouring the Transalp in order to cover all of the bases.

Quickshifter certainly was lovely.
