I'm screaming. I just finished my first hat it's so beautiful I wish I could share a picture. I didn't have the 6mm hook so I continued with 4 and it's so dramatic, I made three layers of raffles and I'm inlove I'm so obsessed ❤❤.

Wow! This is a great video tutorial. I made this hat yesterday after my granddaughter asked for a ruffled hat. The ruffles are very “labor intensive” (LOL) but come out beautiful 😍 And thank you so much for showing how & why to add the elastic band… genius!

I do have a question: If I don't use the elastic on row 14, should I still do row 14's pattern without the elastic (2SC, 1SC all around)? Thanks again
Hi. If I didn't use elastic, I would have worked row 14 as : "1SC in each st around"... But, with that, the ruffles wouldn't be as plenty and densed due to less stitches in row 14.

What if you don't have elastic ban?
Hi. You could buy one but if not possible, you can actually wear the hat like that. The elastic band was just to help maintain the hat's shape.

Yes, try a smaller hook. Or maybe 1 less row.
Where do you get the elastic band!?
I bought it from a shop where they sell tailoring kits like zips, threads, etc

Maybe you have added extra stitches or you are missing some stitches. I'm not sure.
Just make sure to count the total of number of stitches after every row to make sure it's the same as mine.

I followed every instruction. After row six I have 72 stitches but mine only measures 5 1/2". What am I doing wrong. Thank you.
You've done nothing wrong. The final size depends on the yarn, hook size and tension. Just work one more row of increase to get it to 6.5 inches.

I have a medium 4 yarn and used a 3.5 hook
@@starrs6534for the nxt round, repeat: *1 dc in nxt 5 sts, 2dc in nxt st**..... after that, I think you'll end up with 84 sts.....
..Then, you can continue with the pattern from round 7. I hope that makes sense
