Charlotte was the BEST political advisor George had. She was a realist who understood the importance of a home field advantage. We will bring Parliament and the world to us… Buckingham House. She wanted them to see George on his terms in his space.
And the thing is she wasn’t really allowed to talk a lot about political matters because a Queen Consort isn’t supposed to have political influence or powers, only social powers. That’s one of the many reasons why Charlotte was chosen to marry King George.
No one could stop her from getting involved in politics. No one except the king has any authority over her. However it would be another thing trying to be respected as a political player, this would require firstly developing the necessary political skills and having the right allies.
Women in them days understood their power as women and they also understood not overstepping those Powers Charlotte understood her power as the queen and as his wife she also understood the limits of those Powers but also understood the awesome of those Powers if she knew how to use them and she did she let George use the powers without overstepping her own powers as the Queen.
The “I’m sorry” and the tear rolling down his face killed me 🥺💔. Charlotte saying “George dearest” and “tell me” ugh she is such a good wife. Pure Love.
💯 agreed. and the way he said ‘Charlotte?’ when she said ‘George, it is me’ 💔 every tone of their voices 😔 (i’m a bit late to the party but it’s so good 😊
I also love how they had a realistic outlook on their future. They both acknowledge that mental illness is chronic, and there will be days George is not all there. It isn't happily ever after, but it is unconditional love.
She met him where he was mentally. She loved that man, and he loved her back. I fell in love with their love story. I fell in love with this series. I loved some of the little facts they dropped in there also. It made me do a deap dive into the real story of them. So the facts they dropped in there were legit. It made this so much more enjoyable. She stayed by his side & did her best to not only care for him, but protect him when he needed it until she couldn't due to her own illness & death.
"If what we have is half, then we shall make it the very best half. I love you. It is enough." 🥺 I'm not crying. Somebody's just cutting onions near my eyes
This was the best scene of the series along with "you are a Person to me, you can be a person With me." The hope on his face! This one is when they both realize what it's going to be and decide to move forward regardless without either running away.❤
I love that Charlotte loves him at whatever level he is at mentally. Shes amazing, understanding and so sweet to him. Shes the best at balancing the reality of the situation while still being optimistic abojt their future. George is a good man, and she see it even past the illness. These two are a brilliant match😊
I know it’s not easy being with a person with mental distress… But if you can just be with them, support them through moments like this, and tell them you won’t leave them, it will mean so much, I promise you. They deserve someone to love them, too.
This is actually my favorite scene in the whole series. Just the way George says Charlotte can leave him, he’d understand, he’d let her go, it breaks my heart every time.
It's also a big contrast to how in the beginning of the series, she had all these expectations for the perfect husband, and was angry when George wasn't what she expected.
Of all Bridgerton couples, this one defeats all of them. I feel like the other couples emerged from games, hate, obsession and lust, but George and Charlotte were so genuine from the beginning, even their sex scenes were so different, full of love, it was almost palpable... Every one loved the king, Charlotte Loved George, the farmer, the mad, the genuine, the king, every aspect of him, and every "version" of him, because she loved the one behind those versions: George. And George in his madness always loved Charlotte. Loved them together and George... 🤤🤤🤤🤤 well I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one 🤤🤤🤤🤤
My favorite part is when he arrives as she's in labor. "Do you believe you can remain the Archbishop by defying the head of the Church of England? MOVE! The whole birth/labor scene omg!!
One more season please! I want to see Charlotte addressing Parliament for him and George being a father! I also would love a story with Augusta mending some of the relationship she has with George!! Most importantly, I need more on Reynolds!!!
First time viewing this. In addition to how amazing she is with George and his struggles - which is a choice - I like that Charlotte’s personality is so well-suited to meeting this situation. She’s… You can see how that straightforward, concrete pragmatism is going to get her take her through this. It’s not an arrangement most of us could handle for decades, not without resentment or despair, or the sense that we sacrificed a chunk of our life for a lesser one. When this actress says, “If we get half a life, we make it the very best half”, I believe her that she doesn’t feel cheated or reduced by it. And we see in “the present” that yes, she throve in this life. They weren’t just devoted, they were well-matched. I don’t know :). I appreciate what “Bridgerton” has to say about finding a person who fits you, and how difficult that actually is. And how *precious* and lucky it is if you actually do.
Haven’t actually seen the whole show, but just from scenes like this, I can’t wait to see Corey in his new Netflix movie and India in whatever her next project is, they’re both brilliant.
This is such a sweet scene, and so much better than what happened in real life. In real life, he cursed at her and insisted that she wasn’t his wife and worse. Her hair went white from the stress. He had periods when he got worse and better, until finally he was in bad shape for good and she couldn’t bear seeing him anymore. When she died, he had gone practically blind and deaf and didn’t even know. I prefer this version. Also, they now think it was late onset bipolar disorder and not porphyria. It didn’t set in until much later, either when he was around fifty or a possible episode when he was around thirty. It wasn’t lifelong, and it wasn’t kept a secret from Charlotte. But this makes for a good story, and they say right out front that it’s fiction based on history, not historical fact. They did their job acknowledging that and creating a great story. Knowing the truth is just interesting, that’s all.
I would never leave.... be lost and I will always try to find you. So long as a light can be seen, I will always wait to see you return. Even if I am here and you are right next to me. I will wait til you see me and I see you.
He saw himself as a failure but saw his people through a war with France then the American revolution he even had states named after him and his wife Georgia and Charlottesville

it's unhealthy the anount of times I've watched this series. Im obsessed. I love it so much
Thanks for sharing. I thought it was just me. It is so uplifting that I am comforted just playing it in the background as I multi-task.
Me too!
I know I’m starting to worry about my own mental health because being this obsessed is not normal. 😅

The thumbnail alone made me tear up. I miss this show so much. 💜
She's been such a good wife to him.
George told Charlotte, in another scene he was an exhibit.
He was raised to suppress his emotions and passions from birth.
Can you imagine?
This story is fiction.
In today's world those two statements are true today. We are witnessing these events, as nonfiction against our children today.
Sometimes you realize the person who makes you happy is not yours! But unless it is mutual you should let that person go.
Absolutely beautiful find a partner who accepts just you warts and all 😊
This! This! This is true love, not whatever toxic thing Colin convinced Penelope he felt for her.
Should we listen keenly..people do tell us the truth..just George

And after we will have Denzel Washington play George Washington. Splendid idea!
Let’s go back to queen Charlotte who is half Brazilian, Jamaican -forgot

Charlotte was white, not black or mixed race but white.
