So sweet, so sad. Superb acting as always .LnL are just magic together.Love R&L ,and The Whitikars. (sp) ? too. Thanks again Sussezq !!! What a treat .
In the beginning all he ever wanted to do was to take her away from Scott and to have her all to himself. How the writers have messed things up over the years... :( Their chemistry on screen is definitely magical even throughout the years.
@kobey1sun I agree... Denise Alexander and Genie Francis are my favorite fictional mother/daughter team of all time! Both incredible actresses with so much emotional availability.
As my mom said, you didn't know when or if they'd be back after this! She told me them coming back in 93 was a HUGE deal and long awaited, but she said when Bill Eckert came on the scene it was just a matter of time in her mind!
I so wish that they had never come back when they left in 1983! I know that we wouldn't have had Lucky, Lulu, or Nicolas, but we would have the belief that Luke and Laura were out there somewhere, happy and forever in love!
I know these last few are all really hard to watch. Weird since we know eventually they do come back this time... a true testament to the acting.. because we are all only in this particular moment.
I was watching GH in its golden years of the early 80's and in my humble opinion soap operas didn't match much less equal the panache of GH. Luke and Laura made the show and I have so many fond memories of them and all the GH family. However I stopped watching GH at the end of the 80's though but I love rewatching these clips. It's funny but I can't seem to remember this storyline (L & L leaving Port Charles). How long were they out of the show for? Thanks for posting these btw, you don't know how good you've made me feel reliving these happy times.
They were gone for 10 years. This was supposed to be their swan song, TG and GF did not plan to ever come back to GH at this point. I think this was a great ending, too bad it didn’t stay this way. I watched it for a few years after that and then off and on for about a year in 92/93. I only saw the first episode of their return and haven’t since, which sounds like that was a good thing. Sad to hear what happened to L n L since.
Watching this just makes me angry at what they've done to these characters, Rick in particular, but I'm not gonna talk about that here. Very sorry to have brought it up, I was just thinking out loud.
So sad...How does a writer change a character just to create a new storyline....when this FATHER was with the bride that 30 million people tuned in to watch November 16, 1981?????
MissHaliya I’m Never Gonna Give You Up by Frank Stallone and Cynthia Rhodes. It’s from the movie Staying Alive with Stallone, Rhodes, John Travolta and Finola Hughes (soon to be on GH). Great dancing!
Just not enough time. It was all over before it began. And during the holiday season, post Christmas, which is a let down and then the departure. It left a big hole in my heart that day.
I’m watching all of this for the first time in 2023. Was too busy in college and work during the late 1970’s early 1980’s. This couple here has really gripped my heart and this last exit story line is very hard to watch. I’m crying and will probably feel bereft for some time afterwards. This is such a phenomenal acting job on the part of Geary and Francis it just takes my breath away. I guess I had not realized the full extent of how invested I had become in these characters after watching off and on for a couple of months. I’m guessing it is even more impactful if one had watched
@@2006bbbb1 (Cont.) them over a period of what was several years at that time because it’s such a long arc of a love story with so many turns and uncertainties. So sad. It’s really comforting to know there are others who feel the same and we can share that here.
@currdeb Yeah, they ruined her character and Rics (turned him into a psycho path) got rid of MIke and never metioned Amy again!!! I know no one could EVER replace Shel, but they could have place a new actress after a few years since Laura was so close to her sister!
So sweet, so sad. Superb acting as always .LnL are just magic together.Love R&L ,and The Whitikars. (sp) ? too. Thanks again Sussezq !!! What a treat .
I love the way Luke wakes Laura up! That's romance! What passes for romance today doesn't even compare.
"How are you fixed for money?" Such a Dad thing to say, lol.
See! All Luke ever wanted was to take care of Laura, he said so!
And now is when Laura learns to pack a bag! Lol.. And the kitchen sink!
LOVE TG's smile at the 3:52 mark.
MAN!! These old episode bring back so much memories. I MISS the 80’s class of 1988

This is a great mother/daughter segment. Nobody does it like Denise Alexander and Genie Francis!!!
Mr Geary is amazing...
Poor Lesley. She JUST got her back!!!😢
Poor Lesley, indeed! And before very long, poor, poor Lesley. :-(
This what one of the last times theses 4 were together. Leslie was killed off while they were gone. Rick left later on. How sad. Gh messed up.
"I don't think we better be too happy right now..." - lol!
One of my favorite LW scenes is when Laura came back in 2006, and she just had this remarkable and beautiful reunion. It was moving.
As my mom said, you didn't know when or if they'd be back after this! She told me them coming back in 93 was a HUGE deal and long awaited, but she said when Bill Eckert came on the scene it was just a matter of time in her mind!
I know.. you can so feel it from them!
@jhall921 I agree, even sadder to think what they did to Rick's character later, no way this is the same man that would drug his own daughter.
What?! That’s terrible. I loved their father daughter relationship. He and Leslie were great together, fab actors.
I so wish that they had never come back when they left in 1983! I know that we wouldn't have had Lucky, Lulu, or Nicolas, but we would have the belief that Luke and Laura were out there somewhere, happy and forever in love!

Beautiful scene! Beautiful! :( So very sad tho. :(
Rick and Lesley were a very attractive couple back in their day !

If he is gay,he should get an Emmy for playing a straight guy so well!!!!
Fantastic character who still could be fantastic... but alas... (I better just stop right there!!)
someone pass me a tissue !!! This is a sad one !
@sonyab1974 I watched it back then. It's great now thanks to Sus we can watch the whole deal. And I do a lot!
Isn't it wonderful we don't have to wait ten years?
Oh the first arrival of Lucky!!!!!! :o)
I hated for Laura to come back & then leave a month later

Thank god they never recasted anyone on GH during their absences (like they did my other fave, Todd Manning on OLTL-eesh)
How the hell cound the writers turn Rick into a killer,?
smh
@lady5089 Did you watch GH back then? :) Cus if you didn't you are lucky in a way. :) Cus me and other people had to wait 10 yrs. :)
Are TG and GF leaving the show at this point?
Rick is sooo cute.
Sad
YOu don't have to wait 10 minutes!!!!!!
@Scarlettcrzy Loved 'em!!
@lady5089 Ah you watched it back then so you suffered along with me and other people ROFL!
@queenfan69 Nope.. not just you!
@currdeb Yeah, they ruined her character and Rics (turned him into a psycho path) got rid of MIke and never metioned Amy again!!! I know no one could EVER replace Shel, but they could have place a new actress after a few years since Laura was so close to her sister!
