A time in life I wish I could relive. GH was at it's EXPLOSIVELY best back then. Rest In Paradise to all of those cast members who are no longer here. Today GH is not the same.
@@vedaanderson7009 I wonder if he had to practice screaming her name to get it just right. He didn’t know that was her from the balcony because he couldn’t see her face, so when he came out, he said Laura, and then when he knew it was her that’s when that gut wrenching scream came out. Tons of emotion in that. Recognition, desperation, am I dreaming, and happiness. He took so long to leave her standing there to go look around. He was so afraid that he would come back, and she would be gone again. I wonder why she couldn’t hear him walking above her or sitting down the champagne bottle.
Such perfection. Luke drowning his sorrows, after being haunted by memories of Laura all day, then looking up and seeing her. That scream. The tears, disbelief, and utter joy. The love.
This was the best scene of all time on any soap opera in history. I think I was 9 years old and I remember running home from the bus stop after school so I didn't miss this. General Hospital came on from 3 to 4 and I got home from school at 3:30. I ran all the way home from the bus stop praying that I didn't miss this. And I didn't.
I was around the same age but was LUCKY enough to be home with the chickenpox. I've been hooked on GH ever since. (I despise Luke tho because he is a rapist)
@@broughtbackinNo need to despise Luke. Despise the writers who made the decision to rewrite the script and retroactively make it a seduction and not a rape. Anyway, it’s all water over the dam because as the story of Luke and Laura continued, it became so epic and well-loved, who cares anymore what the original story line was. This phenomenal group of actors is to be treasured for their superior skills regardless of the stupid turns and inconsistencies that are laid in the path of the storyline.
I was sick in bed for a week with the flu when I first started watching General Hospital back when Luke and Laura were on fhe run from Frank Smith. I’ve been hooked ever since.
I had to check to see if I wrote that. ;) i would run from the bus to sit on the couch and watch it with my mom every day. Part of me wishes I could go back there for an hour, then prepare to listen to the top 40 on Sunday and tape some of the best pop songs ever off the radio.
Without a doubt one of the best reunions of all time. TG's face speaks volumes. I think we will be waiting a long time before any actor, daytime or evening (even films) can bring to the screen all his emotions. He can bring tears to one's eyes as readily as he can bring laughter. What I wouldn't give for one more "little" reunion in the present day.
Absolutely powerful moment. From the moment in January 1982 while Luke was in tears in their bedroom mourning the loss of Laura hearing Bertie Higgins "Key Largo" playing to this moment. I wish real life could have these happy reunion moments of most close Loved Ones who passed away only to find out they are alive again.
Yes. Watching this again, all these years later, I still got the chills when he sees her. Like so many people here are saying, I can't imagine ever being effected so much again by any soap opera couple.
It never fails, every time I watch this clip I get chills and cry. This is one of the best reunions ever. Tony knocks this out of the park. I hope he won an Emmy for this performance because it was simply amazing. I remember watching this storyline back in the day. The buildup to this moment was incredible.
This is my all time favorite LnL scene. I remember the first time I saw it and today 26yrs later it still gets me. This is the best scene ever in daytime history.

I can't stop watching this part of Laura's return. I have fallen in love with this part and watch it all the time. The way Luke and Laura react to each other after so long a part is so loving I watch it all the time. The romance between them is WOW!
I may not remember the day I watched this episode but knowing me I must've been on the edge of my couch waiting for Luke to finally see Laura. I must admit that the reason I started to watch GH was because they had so many beautiful young ladies (I was a teenager at the time with raging hormones, lol) but I stayed because of the amazing writing on this show. Watching this clip after nearly forty years later and hearing Christopher Cross's "Think of Laura" theme still gives me goosebumps and catapults me back in time and brings tears to my eyes. Thanks so much for sharing these clips.
I remember the build up with the song, the mystery woman in the shadows, the grieving and longing in Luke’s eyes. When this scene played out, I stood up and walked over to watch my set closely. Then Luke’s cry and running to Laura broke a dam of tears. So very powerful❤️❤️❤️

With the rapid progression of technology I'm anxiously awaiting the day someone will invent a time machine so I could be transported back to those days and times. Life was so much better and fun then and General Hospital was at it's fiery best. Luke & Laura forever.
I would run home from school to watch and will never forget this day. My dad had seen the episode on a rare afternoon home for lunch and spilled the beans that the mystery woman was indeed Laura. I couldn’t wait to start the VCR.
this brings back memories I remember this episode my mother was doing her hair and my father had got roped into the show and here's this big italian man yelling babe yer gonna mis luke seein laura c'mon leave ya hair alone
🤣🤣🤣Thats such a precious memory of your Parents! 😍I know so many of us can still recall what we were doing on the exact moment when Luke saw Laura!! I begged my Mom to allow me to miss school to see it!! It was like a national holiday!!
I was just a kid but I remember watching both their wedding and this reunion with my mom who was a huge GH fan. We sat and screamed at the TV for Luke to look down when Laura was walking right beneath him. And when he finally saw her, we started yelling and cheering!
Luke: LAURA! OH MY GOD! I'm a mess here! I can't stop crying! What a great scene between them! The way he screams out her name and the way he screams oh my God! I remember their reunion like it just happened yesterday! I was 8 yrs old and I was so happy! The reason why Genie Frances came back is because Tony Geary was leaving. If Genie Frances comes back again cus Tony is leaving again then I will be okay with it. Just reunite them writers! Let Laura come back from France.
I saw an interview where Anthony Geary said the set was fun again with GF back. He said they laughed constantly. Their connection was apparent even off screen.
I'm in love with them all over again! And, I absolutely treasure this wonderful collection you've brought to us, Suzie!! Thank you...from the bottom of my heart!!! 🤗🥰
GH and Another World were my Soaps. Coming home from school to watch them with my Mom was the best! 41 years later and, I still feel the same emotions I did in 1983. I don't think anyone can top this emotional reunion . Luke and Laura were the top love store to end all love stories
I'm rewatching this scene again. I haven't watched this in a long time. The anticipation was killing me! :) And then he sees her and calls her name and they hug, I got chills!! :)
I've been watching GH here on youtube in chronological order starting with 1981 Luke n Laura (I can't stand today's GH) and up to 1988. These two were gone a long time and no matter how much I still enjoy Robert, Holly, Anna, Duke, Sean, Tiffany, Frisco and Felicia, I miss these two! Their storylines were so great. I can't wait for their return in the early 90's.
@sussezq we were all holding our breaths...tell we knew it would really happen!!! Luke & Laura were BACK!!! One of the most anticipated scences ever on TV. I remember thinking....all is right with the world again, So well written, I would never get tried of watching it!!!
That song…Fascination… which was the waltz they did at Wyndham’s Dept store..Here it is given a creepy, haunting treatment, almost devoid of it’s beauty. As if the memory of that dance is now so distant and it’s ability to recall that moment has faded. It has a tinny, thin sound..not lush and full like when they were dancing. It’s hard to articulate how it feels to me hearing it played that way….heart wrenching, evoking longing, but also scary like in sci fi movies.
For some reason I never caught the sound of Laura's cry at the end of this scene where Luke is embracing her and it fades out. I hear Luke cry then Laura's right at the end.
A time in life I wish I could relive. GH was at it's EXPLOSIVELY best back then. Rest In Paradise to all of those cast members who are no longer here. Today GH is not the same.

With the rapid progression of technology I'm anxiously awaiting the day someone will invent a time machine so I could be transported back to those days and times. Life was so much better and fun then and General Hospital was at it's fiery best. Luke & Laura forever.
I agree
Sign me up.
I wish they would play these old reruns again best show ever.
kitty kitty Me too!!!
As perfect a scene as there ever was
This is like Shakespeare it's on that level of storytelling
I was just a kid but I remember watching both their wedding and this reunion with my mom who was a huge GH fan. We sat and screamed at the TV for Luke to look down when Laura was walking right beneath him. And when he finally saw her, we started yelling and cheering!
Luke's reaction was perfect, just exactly like a man would be after missing his wife for two years.
I've always wondered if they weren't both a little giddy with anticipation when they taped this scene.
+Lukejunkie They said they stayed in character ALL day!
Me too! Love this scene! The best reunion ever! So glad to see them working together again.
Oh, this makes me cry! Words just can't express... Thank you so much, sussezq, for all of this, I love being able to watch L and L whenever I want!
GH and Another World were my Soaps. Coming home from school to watch them with my Mom was the best! 41 years later and, I still feel the same emotions I did in 1983. I don't think anyone can top this emotional reunion . Luke and Laura were the top love store to end all love stories
"I'm not dreaming." 💗
Damn, that’s some good soap.
I'm rewatching this scene again. I haven't watched this in a long time. The anticipation was killing me! :) And then he sees her and calls her name and they hug, I got chills!! :)
Its so hard going through this in order, isn't it? You want to jump ahead, but the build up makes the payoff all the more sweet, doesn't it?
@@2006bbbb1 Oh I know!!!! So hard. Yes the build up makes the payoff all the more sweet I agree! :)
Jesus Christ this was so good 😭😭😭😭😭😭 I was a tiny kid born in 77 and I remember this !!!
I remember this! I loved the good ole days❤️🥰
Yesss!!!!!!!! "Reunited And It Feels So Good".... -Peaches and Herb. Circa 1978. :-)
I could watch this all day. Thanks for posting all these great clips. I was 16 during the GH reign...ran home from school everyday.
You are simply amazing for uploading these clips I have never seen them before. Thank you and the quality is amazing. These are truly beautiful clips.
I miss them together
Me too!
From a fashion perspective, I love Tony's suit and how the teal blue of his tie is related to Genie's dark blue jacket. =)
For some reason I never caught the sound of Laura's cry at the end of this scene where Luke is embracing her and it fades out. I hear Luke cry then Laura's right at the end.
Love this scene ❤
Whoever directed this was amazing.
I don’t know about directing, but Gloria Monty was the production brains behind it all at the time. I’m sure she called most of the shots.
