    Thank you. You provided a multi-piece mold making session that involved an unsymmetrical item!

    Thanks for posting. I’ve missed your videos. I use your Mid-Range Glaze book all the time. You included so much information in a format that is so useful.

    Fab, practical advice. Thanks so much. Looking to make my first press moulded vase. Is there an advantage in making the 3 piece mould with the big front plaster section, compared to the one with symmetrical halves and the small bottom section which you also showed? Also, do you still sometimes use the boards. I've just made a set and they already look redundant! ;-)

      Yes, when making something bigger or a mold that wants to be really nice and square..smooth..I use Formica cottles

      @@johnbrittpottery Thanks for replying John. Success! :-) I've had success with my cottle boards, on a biggish hand-built faceted vase with an indented base using your 3 part method. I'm glad I tried a small test piece first, as I forgot the Murphy's oil on the last pour on that one! I won't do that again. On my vase, I firmed it up with a heat gun and was able to add a thrown neck, and finish it off nicely on the wheel. Only another 9 to go ;-)

    Why would a mold explode??

    • @johnbrittpottery
      @johnbrittpottery  ปีที่แล้ว

      It was a large mold and when I poured in the plaster...the pressure was so great (all that water and plaster is very heavy) that ir "exploded" the mold and spilt out all the wet plaster.
