Unless you are law enforcement, or licensed security performing an actual job, what possible reason would justify your bringing a firearm to an airport? In addition, what possible justification would you have to discharge the weapon beyond an immediate threat to your life and safety? What possible reason would you have in firing the weapon inside the airport and damaging the infrastructure of a public building and placing its occupants at risk of injury or death? No one wants to hear any excuses about "mental defect." To bring your weapon to the airport required pre-planning on your part. To fire the weapon required callous disregard no matter what your personal motive. The interior of an airport is not a "firing range." Rot in jail for five years. The fact of the matter is you broke the trust all human beings give to each other. As for you being a good person who would likely not benefit from incarceration, well this is not about what a wonderful person you are. Its simply a matter of public safety. You broke your trust with all of society. Now rot in jail and reflect on your actions. .
It is legal to carry a loaded firearm in a non secure portion of an airport. Checked baggage for flights unless air marshall qualified. Airports are magnets for criminals particularly the parking areas. This does not justify negligent discharges from mental illness.
"I don't think prison would help me" . . . Prison is designed to punish, not help you.
Meanwhile, Seattle just reduced the bail of an accused murderer because "his family would like him home for Christmas". Sad sad times
why wasnt this a federal offense?

To your first question. The 2nd amendment, is my reason. I never fly without my firearm.
