Excellent review guys, better than anything I've seen on this yacht, or other TBH. Great to see magnificent British craftsmanship here and these yachts are the pinnacle of that, and probably overall. Looking forward to what's next.
It is so nice that I would be afraid to sail it lest it get dirty. It is built so solid that there would be nowhere in the world that I would be afraid to travel. I had a tour of an 885 a few years back. This 595 looks pretty much the same just smaller. A real pocket luxury superyacht. Great job Nick as usual on the tour. I look forward to your next one as always :)
Nick, So glad the boat reviews are back. Can’t believe you didn’t keep, with your signature Ten Towers Geronimo.. Every time I hear that I think tranquility and Nicks Boat review.
I'm underwhelmed for $4M. Two years ago, an Oyster 565 was around $1.8M, so prices have skyrocketed. I think the biggest thing going for Oyster is being able to join a world Oyster rally; seems like an awesome experience. I was more impressed by the Passport, 615 and 545, than the Oyster 575, last year in Annapolis. The Rustler 57 is more to my liking, or even better, the Friendship 65, would get my 'bling'.
Beautiful yacht. Stuffs of dream for all but reality for most who can afford such luxury. $4-5 million is alot of 💰.😄. But if I do happen to win the lottery, I think the Garcia explorer 52 is the monohull for me. A boat that can go anyway. The Garcia 52 catamaran for more space. Great video Nick. Always enjoy these. Keep making them. Thanks. Will

Love the design of the SIRIUS 40DS…just seems like they have really rethought the idea of interior space efficiency. Again…a pricy boat though for 40 footer. Have enjoyed seeing your Vietnam tour. Wow! Your video is better than the Oyster ones, and I've seen them all. I think the people from Oyster are patting their own shoulders for letting you make this video and at the thought of adding it to their arsenal. Splendid! ...Yet I still prefer the two of you on Ruby Rose one. You and Therysa make It feel more like home.
Fantastic boats and probably worth every penny. If you can scrape together the funds to buy this type of boat you better have the funds to maintain it. You want people anchored next to you saying, "that is a beautiful boat". You don't want them saying, "it was a beautiful boat". Even with the magical lottery dollars I am not sure I could bring myself to spend that kind of money, but you never know. In the meantime, it's nice to dream. Thanks for the tour!
For a $5M 60ft. sailboat I would expect it to include: 1. An AI system to monitor the wind and sea state to automatically adjust sails to maximize safety and speed. 2. A robot servant to clean the boat, cook perfect meals, give massages and perform boat maintenance. 3. Advanced sonar and lasers to monitor ahead and below to protect itself. 4. A giant android to defend against attacking pirate ships.
A really elegant boat. Looking forward to seeing the comparisons. And lol, it kind of reminded me of Sue Grant from Berthons going over a boat. Well done.
Any chance you'll get on a Sirius? Their cabin layout seems really interesting--would be cool to see it reviewed by someone who has lived aboard a monohull for a lengthy time.
Don't bother to wrap it for me Nick, I think I'll just take it right there. I'm 70 and it might not make it away from the dock, but I'd take it anyway. Beautiful.
Thank you. I would definitely like to hear your take on Garcia 45, 52, 52 Cat and Ovini 37, 40. Lol I would I like your take on trimarans down to the Corsair 40, 37.
Nick - tell us how you REALLY feel! LOL I for one love to see the yachts "normal" people can't afford! It's a stunning super yacht - what a master cabin! And I loved the Hamble setting. When I was kid, we kept our 30 footer at Swanick Marina (Also called Moodys) on the Hamble.
Buy a catamaran instead. Or something that's actually worth $5 million. This ship is waaaaay overpriced. You can get a 2020 super Yacht for half the price, 3x times as big and more luxurious than this fishing boat.
@@itburnswhenipvp3789 Tell me that you never seen an Oyster up close, without telling you never seen one up close. Oysters are in a league of their own and worth every penny.
Hi Nick, very nice to learn you bought this new bought, I though you were a pauper but nice see you proved to be prnices....so say Hello to your prince from my side. Enjoy your boat🙃
Your review here is so outstanding, love the slow panning of the camera. I hope Oyster is paying you for this boat tour because they bloody should. Excellent review. The only problem with this boat is that a 60-foot cat in the same price range, is just so much more boat for the money. You can get a 10 year old super yacht for 10 million dollars Is this mono value for money, Don't think so at all. Here you are paying for top notch workmanship. Id prefer Bayliner quality for only 1 million dollars LOL.
It's certainly a very nice boat, but I have a hard time understanding why I should not buy instead an Amel 60 or Garcia 60? They cost about half the price, offer just as much luxury, an amazing track record for blue water cruising, great performance with probably more safety (clearly so with the GaRcia) and just as much sailing credentials? Looking at cats, an Garcia Explocat 52 or Outremer also seem to offer a lot more for the money.
Agree Bernard, this monohull feels like a poor cost benefit all things included. Get a 51 privilege for half-ish the price, double the comfort and space, nothing lost in terms of where you can go, easily sailed short handed.
I didn't know there even existed sailboats with electric sail control. I've generally assumed that my family will need a power boat for liveaboard use, because we're none of us young or fully healthy, and we can't count on being able to do all the physical work that goes into running a sailboat every day. Something like this one, we might be able to handle. All that said, for less than $2 million you can buy Steve and Linda Dashew's own _Beowulf_ (still for sale last I checked, at an asking price of $1,750,000). If I were looking for a gorgeous, luxurious circumnavigating liveaboard (which I am) and price was no object (which, alas, it is), I would probably go for that one. Some of what they've done to improve every conceivable function on that boat is simply unreal.
Nice! But looking for something a bit more realistic. Want to know when or if seawind going to deliver on there Bosts? Like yours. I believe 3 years is a bit long to build a boat of that size . Ok until next time Aloha from the Big Island of Hawaii
It's beautiful. But I guess I am more practical. Rather live, cook and spend most of my time up with a view and sleep down. No place for solar. I would like a sheltered outdoor eating area. I really would prefer a catamaran like RR 2. Thanks for the tour though! I am curious. Why did you choose the name "Ruby Rose"?
For that find of money I wish they could of worked in the beautiful wood styling of the sailing vessels of yester years. And although the quality is top notch with the interior styling, the designs look like they came straight out of IKEA.
This is a beautiful mono-hull, but for 5 million USD the Lagoon Seventy 7 cat seems miles ahead in both space and amenities. Maybe I'll have to take a closer look at some mono-hulls, but other than the very low end market it seems cats just have more to offer overall for the dollar?
Hmm not sure you can compare a lagoon to an oyster, the quality is at opposite ends of the spectrum but if space is what you value then yes, a massive Lagoon will give you that.
Ohh boat review or sales pitch? Your channel has always had cruising at its heart so was disappointed you didn’t “drill down” on fundamentals around what makes a true blue water cruising boat and does this boat hit the grade? Have you lost your Catamaran Video objectivity? Chasing “OmniCorp” ££’s on us? No critical review of key elements such as the boats profile, Protected rudder, Life boat deployment, hull integrity and the list goes on. The quality of photography and its awesome so huge hats off to you on that front and love to see you experimenting. However please don’t forget most of us TH-cam followers love you guys most when your brutal, honest and quirky, rather than “perfect, crisp and stylish”. Do love you and your content sorry for being so “negative”… guess that happens when I see such a ludicrously priced and beautiful boat and no one tells me I’m better off without it! 😁
Oyster, Halberg-Rassy, Swan - These are amongst the finest fiberglass and composite sailing yachts in the world and, yes, they are expensive. I believe that you will also be reviewing a Hanse and a Moody (an upscale Hanse) which are less expensive but, of course, they are less luxurious and, IMO, won't perform as well. The Dutch build stunning steel and aluminium boats. An example is KM who (probably) builds the finest expedition sailing yachts in the world (one is the legendary "Vinson of Antarctica" about which a LOT has been written).
As someone with a motor "yacht" is it really pleasant to have to "drive" your boat exposed outside ALL the time.....hours in the sun, stormy weather, bugs etc. That only seems fun for the first hour? Tell me what I'm missing. The inside is beautiful.
This boat is almost certainly equipped with a fabric bimini that covers the entirety of the cockpit. In the very unlikely chance it isn't, it's absolutely an option, either at commission or added later. The vast majority of monohulls do not have a hard bimini, due to the increased windage. It's preferable to have one that folds away, if the need arises.
@@seamusohooligan72 thanks for the reply I've never sailed (though I'd love to) unless it's a center cockpit the helms are way way in the back of the boat where there appears to be nothing to hook any cover up to. I know people tie themselves in but it seems like any larger wave could just toss them off the back lol. Is a center cockpit safer?
I'm just interested in your opinion. Have you ever heard of such a product, video and surveillance and control radar as Oscar-Navigation?What do you think about this and do you plan to put anything at home?
Nick thank you for going to such a hardship as reviewing this yacht for us! Absolutely lovely boats - literally pocket superyachts. Oysters have circumnavigated in the antarctic ocean so I'm not sure what more an "expedition yacht" would particularly add (unless you really were going to get frozen into the ice. That said KM for example make some beautiful yachts too as do Hallberg Rassy, Contest, Sailing MF reviewed the Kraken yachts which look very very nice. That said I really think Oyster do make some of the most beautiful and well put together boats, if the lottery (and it would have to be a big one) comes up I'd seriously consider one. Even then $5 is a lot of money - the 565 would be cheaper and possibly easier to handle for a couple (plus shallower draft). That said I'd be very tempted by a cat - Dazcats would probably be where I'd look first. Sadly unlikely to ever have that kind of money.
@@ln5747 certainly - there are things on the garcia that might be more comfortable in some situations, I'm not sure if garcia's have actually frozen in and overwintered (if that's what you really want to do) and GRP probably isn't a good idea for that but Oysters have gone up to Svalbard and circumnavigated south of 70 south and you can spec them appropraitely. The garcia has a shallower minimum draft but ultimately there's few places you couldn't sail in an Oyster, certainly for the vast majority of sailors there's lots of things that you do have on oyster that you're not going to get on a Garcia too, and the Oyster is going to sail better and make faster passages, runs from weather etc. All boats are compromises in some way.
If I won the lotto it would be a difficult choice between the Oyster 595 and the Amel 50. Amel has the industry beat in safety hands down but Oyster has everybody beat in quality and comfort unless you are taking serious custom boat builds. I digress we are taking about production boats here right. My main concern is the protection of the helm on passage. We all know the weather is unpredictable and Mother Nature can throw a serious storm in the middle of passage and on the 595 you are exposed. Amel has the helm protected under an integrated hard top/dodger that isn't an extra option. Neither brand has done a review on the electrical system like the Hylas 57, it can go full load for 12 hours on batteries. What are the creature comfort loads sustainable under the batteries for Oyster 595? How often do you have to charge while on the hook in tropical areas? Myself I'm not sleeping in hot and humid climates without air-conditioning I'll only need the master cabin AC. I want to drink my sundowner hang out in the cockpit until about close to midnight then retire to my cabin in climate controlled comfort without generator noise. Don't mind starting the genset in the morning, heck I like a hot sower first thing anyway and hot water is the perfect parasitic load on a generator. What about refrigeration options? An Atlantic crossing can take from as little as 14 day to 24 days. That's a lot of food if you want to eat more than canned goods toward the end of passage. Myself I'd prepare a lot of premade meals and freeze them so they could me microwaved and served. Not going to attempt cooking underway going across the Atlantic with a 4 person crew.
Although quit impressive; I think that if I was to win the lottery I’d buy a motor yacht because the thought of wrangling with sails at 3 am in the morning with 30 plus knots of wind and sea states in at around 6 plus feet doesn’t sound appealing.
I will now be very rude and say that this is one of the best presentations I have seen so far 👏🏻 Especially since you didn't hide the price, the price varies from the equipment, we all know that, but most presentations hide the prices like snake legs Yes, this is an extra category boat with an extra price, but congratulations on this presentation (I think Oyster Yachts should pay you for an ad like this) Just keep going like this, and don't just stay on it feel free to make like this for exotic 100 ft "tubs" as well 😁 Thumbs up for this 👍 (I really sound like a grovel) 😁
That’s a beautiful boat, whew. While the cloth (?) wall panels look gorgeous, I wonder how practical they are once salt air/water starts flinging about. Worst case, I guess the crew can haul them off to them cleaners. :)
Well done Nick truly a proffessional show thank you but you asked would I spend my lotto win on this no I'd buy a Kracken would love to hear your thoughts debs
Love your work, the filming is amazing. Your technical and scientific approach is what I appreciate the most, best I have ever seen. BUT I watched all your videos on your catamaran analysis and scorecard. You torched boats that did not have a forward facing helm (you did gently mix in how this boat was not your preference) or protected helm (you trashed Excess and they had a little though crappy protection), there is not a worse helm in all the boats you reviewed. This boat looks almost like everything you do not want on your new Seawind. Air flow looked poor compared to the cats which T focused on. According to your scorecard (which I think is an EXCELLENT system) I would assume you give this boat around 25 points? I did not see you point out the life raft but maybe I missed it. I missed the steering system, and does this mean you like in mast furling? You did say softly this is not the boat for you but I was expecting you to trash the areas you do not like. I miss that guy with his strong opinions, can we get him back? :) Still a big fan of you guys.

I know people tie themselves in but it seems like any larger wave could just toss them off the back lol. Is a center cockpit safer?
@@scottd8108 lol that's what I think about too. No way I'd want to be sitting there alone at midnight in a storm tied in or no.
Owning and maintaining a vessel like this is beyond my imagination.
Lol same
you dont need to. you pay people to do it.
and now you can understand the typical smile of an Oyster Owner….
Thought you would be in Vietnam by now ? Lovely mono-hull !
🙏
An expedition yacht would add a lot!
@@ln5747 such as?
@@tomriley5790 well I suggest looking at the spec and build of the Garcia etc and compare it to an Oyster etc.
Beautiful…
Good thing it wasn’t any bigger or you would’ve been running short on superlatives.🤔
I WOULD buy this boat. Why not?!?! Maybe I would sell it on but it would be fun to try.
Kraken Yachts make a good argument for NOT having a "Bolt-on" Keel... Oyster vs. Kraken - I'm going with Kraken!
Although quit impressive; I think that if I was to win the lottery I’d buy a motor yacht because the thought of wrangling with sails at 3 am in the morning with 30 plus knots of wind and sea states in at around 6 plus feet doesn’t sound appealing.
Groovy
I will now be very rude and say that this is one of the best presentations I have seen so far 👏🏻
Especially since you didn't hide the price,
the price varies from the equipment, we all know that, but most presentations hide the prices like snake legs
Yes, this is an extra category boat with an extra price, but congratulations on this presentation
(I think Oyster Yachts should pay you for an ad like this)
Just keep going like this, and don't just stay on it
feel free to make like this for exotic 100 ft "tubs" as well 😁
Thumbs up for this 👍
(I really sound like a grovel) 😁
Ah thanks mate. Appreciate the kind words
That’s a beautiful boat, whew. While the cloth (?) wall panels look gorgeous, I wonder how practical they are once salt air/water starts flinging about. Worst case, I guess the crew can haul them off to them cleaners. :)
Yep, it will probably wear at the same rate as the rest of the fabric so I guess it can all be replaced at the same time?
Very nice boat, but over-priced. The competition is huge from other brands as well as from the used boat market.
Beautiful boat but for that money i would get a Cat with dagger boards !
As soon as I saw those exposed helm stations, I said “nope”
‘If you have that sort of money down the back of the sofa’ 😂
Love the video - you could give Toby Hodges a run for his money doing reviews. Thanks.
🙏
If i had the money this monohull could probably get me to give up on owning a catamaran, among other things to participate in the Oyster Yacht Rally.
Awesome
