You couldn't play as the characters. Full stop, that alone would have been enough to kill the game. The starting roster was like 3 fighters unless you paid money. That's never going to work, that is not how f2p works at all. The difference between being able to play a bunch of characters but reeeaally wanting that new one that dropped, versus logging in and the entire roster except a small handful are locked, is night and day. But yeah shutting down the game for a year was probably what did it, all told. No idea what they were thinking with that one. I think PFG likely did a very reasonable job developing the game, but WB has a habit of taking the saying "kill your darlings" a bit too literally.
The truth is that the game was fun but it had many problems that ended in this bad ending. It had great potential that, due to the bad decisions of Warner Bros., all that potential never be. Oh and before I forget, for those who said I was going to be the Smash Killer, buy your clown wigs and go tell another bad joke with the Nick Brawl 1 and 2 players that their games is going to be revived
@@azizkash286 but you have to remember that’s not always about the community’s size, it’s the community’s passion and interest That being said I definitely think it’s going to a long amount of time until a Project M(ultiversus) happens
I just cant help but to feel bad for people that spent so much money on this game, like if they at least kept the servers up, it would be cool, but not eve that, just completely offline... that's crazy
- I also always thought music really was pretty bad for this type of game (whimsical, orchestral music). I always muted it and played my own vgm playlist. - The ui and artstyle was definitely missing charisma and style - The stall and float aerial combat just feels so bad, it was less noticeable during the beta since it was faster. They put way too much focus on the animations than gameplay that actually feels good
Honestly really is a shame, absolutely loved getting to work w PFG during the beta and played the game a ton, but the magic was def lost over time, really sad to see it go away... again, which hurts even more
I played at the launch window I liked it because it was slow like smash 4 lol. I unlocked Jason and Agent Smith grinded projectile kills with Agent Smith got the platinum but I didn't bother playing ranked since it launched in season 2. I didn't even know they added shields
The biggest issue by far was WB forcing PFG to rerelease the game with half of the beta features just missing. The game clearly needed a few more months of development to build in the remaining features and make gameplay improvements, but WB shot themselves in the foot again a second time and the game massively suffered as a result. I won’t lie when I say I think MVS is significantly more interesting than Smash and a lot of the character movesets are fairly well designed (albeit unbalanced for a handful). My only hope would be that we could eventually see a similar game done right under better management. And as a side note, I hope someone else finally gets the balls to try and design another Iron Giant for their game because as much of a nightmare he was to develop and balance, he was a lot of fun and what Ridley in Smash should’ve been
Multiverses shutting down really is a shame, but what was your favorite Memory of the game?
Let's share some positivity today!
def loved Samurai Jack, his kit gave me alot of Cloud vibes from Smash honestly
I miss it gave me hope for the genre to get some love outside of Smash and the indie scene, and that it wasn't trying to be Melee
whats the song at 3:11 ?

This is such terrible news. I can't believe that Dabuz is a league player.

It always felt like the devs didn't know what they wanted from the game (other than money)

The game had so much monetization it made a gacha game blush.
Yeah, doubles were amazing on beta, and they were ok in the “full release”
I hope modders open this game up once it goes offline and do a Project M / Marvel vs Capcom Infinite and Beyond type of deal.
Lol MVS doesn't have a big enough fan base for these passion projects

Tbh the moment i saw this game have a non existence comp community along with the dogshit monetization I knew this game was not gona last long

PlayStation All Stars was so underrated

Doubles focus is a big failure point. Most people playing fighting games want to play 1v1, the focus on doubles made the game fail.
I wonder if 2xko will suffer this issue

The biggest reason was we weren't able to play any characters
Make eveything wrong on purpose to have the excuse of leaving with the money= SCAM
Never played it, looks jank though
It is jank... But it was the best kind of jank for a while lolol
The artstyle and concept look OK the gameplay just jank
Sounds like why hyperscape failed

I comment for the algorythm, because I never played it nor even cared it in the first place. ^^"

The game became incredibly slow. I loved multiversus for its speed
