I'd love to see COD movie of an hour and a hald with renders like in the good cut scenes, more than to see a disapointing campaign at least, that's for sure.
I think it was BO3 that allowed full loadout customization in the campaign, even including 'super' weapons if you unlock them. This was super cool as it allowed you to approach missions completely differently, real replayability. Not sure why this never returned..
Campaign definitely felt like a DLC which sets up MW4 which I think was announced. Campaign had a great story but the gameplay and missions felt like they were missing something regardless I would buy this game if it ever went on discount because the 70 - 100 dollar price tag doesn’t feel earned from the beta multiplayer (yes I know it’s beta but it’s supposed to give an impression of what to expect in the full game) and this campaign I don’t know if Zombies would be enough to carry the game and say “this is worth 70-100”. That’s the issue I mainly have… it’s the price
Wait a few months then it'll go on sale eventually it always does sure you'll miss the initial feel before weapons are buffed and nerfed as needed or in some cases completely unnecessary but at least you didn't waste $70 on a dlc
I’m glad I’m not the only one. This open mission campaign model is a complete miss imo, I play COD campaigns for linear cinematic missions not miniature warzone sims with AI. Very disappointing, I’m very hopeful for the multiplayer this year though. I throughly enjoyed last year’s MWII campaign though.
i cried at the end, but hated how sudden it ended. felt like there should have been at least one more mission to wrap things up. I get leaving it open for another game but the way they did it was too sudden of a stop
I was very shocked, and then extremely pissed off (I was like “wait…THATS THE END?!”) and then I also got sad about how the story is probably gonna be expanded over warzone
@abbydagg3r727 Right! All I could think about was how the original MW2 campaign was so damn iconic. I still remember being hyped beyond belief with the "till I colapse" trailer and still meeting expectations. I'll only remember this game because of a half assed "prisoner 627" mission and a wanna be "No Russian"
This campaign feels like an extension to the Warzone story line. Which I know continues the main campaign but that’s just what this feels like. I feel like they could actually add missions as the seasons go on since they continue the story on Warzone.
Ending made me sad asl but it felt crazy short, and it set up MW4 pretty obviously which sucks cause they couldn’t een be creative wit it. But the campaign itself is good, solid 7/10 but doesn’t even compare to MW19, ain’t realize how lucky we got with that one. Cutscenes were amazing and the open world shit was fun. Also loved the Ghosts reference in the last mission (if ykwim).
Just a damn shame that’s how they introduce us to the game that we was supposed to get last year tho, fuckin shame, exicted for the MP and maybe some story expansions like raids again but BO is looking more and more appealing
Was a huge fan of call of duty campaigns because they drew you in with their intense linear missions which would add to the story and replay ability. Not a fan of the open missions at all. Single player campaign should feel different than a spec ops mission or DMZ against AI randomly placed throughout the map and it doesn’t feel different at all.
You're delusional. Why save it? Why give people an awful campaign? Why make a shitty product and not put any effort into it? Because they don't give a shit. They're not "saving the cool stuff." There is no cool stuff. This is as good as it is going to get. Welcome to CoD.
I was rly surprised by the ending not the story but the moment it was over. I did not expect the last mission to be the last. It felt so wrong to end there.
I haven’t finished my play through, I am about 4-5 missions in.. but I am hating the open world feel.. I much prefer the highly intense lineal missions! I felt way more immersed then than I do now
If any hasn’t played MW3 campaign yet Task force 141 joins back with shadow squad. Makarov kills soap MacTavish when they are the defusing the bomb 💣,Captain price kills General Shepard at the end of game.
I wish these missions were co-op. Some of these 'open combat' missions would play so much better with 2 or even 4 players since most of the time you have 4 operators going through missions anyways in this game.
They need to stick to linear level design when it comes to campaigns. It’s SUPPOSED to feel like you’re playing through a movie. It’s like one idiot back in 2011 said he wanted “more freedom of choice” in the single player and ever since then the devs have used that as an excuse to put less into the campaigns. Campaigns should be campaigns, multiplayer should be multiplayer, spec ops should be spec ops, Warzone should be Warzone, zombies should be zombies. The best cods were the cods that didn’t try to make the “Warzone crowd” happy while playing the campaign or the “DMZ crowd” happy while playing zombies, etc. I get it was a resource thing this year, but still - this has to stop.
Idk this campaign was weird. It felt like it was more of Raid missions than it was a full fledge campaign. I’m a huge COD campaign fan but this is sitting weird. The cinematics weren’t screaming “ok let’s show off our game” the whole campaign felt rushed and a lot didn’t make sense. ***spoiler comment*** Soap should’ve went out in a better way not in a subway. That final mission could’ve been better. Idk
I'm surprised this even got a 5-6 from him. The campaign is so short. It's cobbled together from assets they had laying around, and those "open" missions have no structure and rely on you to make your own action, leading to there being less cool set pieces. Not to mention the zombies mode already looks like something the zombies community didn't ask for. Then there's the fact that the multiplayer exclusively launches with all reused maps, but you bet there will still be tons of new cosmetics and battle passes for you to empty out your wallet. $70 for a glorified DLC that should've been a $20 or less MW2 2022 DLC.
I liked the open combat missions, great campaign crazy ending made me so sad...felt too short, should gotten more/better story for the money but that's expected nowadays unfortunately. here's hoping multiplayer and zombies isn't a complete letdown
A lot of people rushing this campaign like its gonna disappear tomorrow, playing it like they playing a Warzone match. Im enjoying it alot, 3 hours in, only on mission 4. Taking my time and trying to focus on the narrative more that just playing, shooting and finishing missions as fast as possible
I feel bad for the people that plays the campaign on 120 FOV, Auto-Tac Sprint and taking fights like if was MP, lmao. 80-90 FOV and Normal Walking Speed = Immersion.
Makarov went from an actual villain to a moustache twirling clown who had every plan foiled immediately. Campaign was fine. Ending was really rushed and it felt like there was not actual emotion to it. Im not sure what to think at this point.
Thats bullshit coz i remember them saying shit like - we have 7 big teams working on this so we can deliver best zombies single battleground and multiplayer so far with almost 1billion dollars budget.
The game shows it was made in a year, year and a half at a push, but despite that, I enjoyed it. The OCMs were very obviously a first attempt at this type of mission. Hopefully BO6 can refine it, especially since 3arc has made 2 games with loadouts in campaign before, which was a major part of it.
The detail in the game in 4KU is incredible. If you hang out in an area for a bit, the sun will rotate in real time. The missions are familiar. Not difficult, but the campaign is noticeably short. It felt rushed, or like it needed more.
It really feels like it was meant to be a filler DLC but holy hell I loved that High Rise mission probably gonna *actually* replay it lmao. Otherwise I felt like it was a fine but expected like 6/10 lol
Yeah that was far and away the best "open world" mission. They were all forgettable except that one, I genuinely had fun exploring that nap and trying to go up the levels, felt like I was playing a 3D parkour platformer
I had a positive experience with the open world missions but ONLY because of replayability. I’m excited to jump back in and do those missions again now. Although 100% agree that these missions lack the quality that more linear missions do.
I agree this felt like a dlc expansion than a new game but will say the overall story was a 7/10 but gameplay 5/10 as it felt like something was missing or lacking but love how menacing Makarov is he is more so yhan the original
Gonna be honest, SHG should just stick to being a support studio for Warzone or just work with Infinity Ward on their projects since it seems they can make better MP changes then IW but drop the ball when it comes to anything campaign related
It is a fun campaign, and a lot of your criticism holds up. I am happy with the more grounded nature of this game, the push and pull between the factions has you wondering who is really in the front in this race, ya know? It's really well done, just too short sadly.
Those who pre-order wil never learn! Should've just watched those youtube channels that compile all the cutscenes into a "movie" and wait for warzone. Lets see what Xbox does with Call of Duty in the next 5-10 years
I enjoyed it, But it did feel kind of short.. Will be going back through it to see what it's like on veteran and try to do some of the challenges I missed organically
I’m only a few missions in, but I’m enjoying the change of pace. Cod campaigns are always the side attraction for me, and sometimes I don’t ever get around to them. So this open combat stuff is a fun approach. Feels like taking out fortresses in Far Cry or something.
I actually thought it was really fun, even the open combat missions. Framing is everything though; if it wasn’t abundantly evident that the open combat missions were the result of a limited development time, I actually think they would be being received far better. Because everyone knows they’re just Warzone assets, they’re not being received well, but they’re really no different from a number of missions we had in MW2019 that were open ended, and very similar. Had a great time with them. Biggest problem with the campaign is that is just feels like MWII part II. Where that game felt like nothing but set up with no pay-off, this game feels like a lot of cool moments, but bereft of the pacing set up to anchor their impact. If these had been the tail end missions of last year’s campaign, this would be one of the better CoD campaigns, but as it stands, it’s just too limited in a vacuum to stand on its own.
WE PAID 100+ bucks on CUTSCENES AND stuff being added to multiplayer that shouldn’t been taken in the first place smh and Zombies is DMZ just took away AI enemies n put cold war zombies on a map they finesse the 💩 outa us
I think the campaign was pretty good. The new open combat system is fun (a little over done) but I like being able to feel like I had a choice in how the mission is done and not just dragged point a to b. The only issue I had was with some missions not loading or assets not loading for the fist run, but my pc is a little old so could be that
I really didn’t like the open combat missions. It’s like spec ops but alone. And you’re right there were too many.

i feel like they will make an additional updates for the campaign , The game is very refreshing even if it had some BO2 inspiration . Love they ended it on a lose , and the cliffhanger it self ! I love the feeling of urgency and precision at the same time . So The Open combat has been a pleasent surprise , and some Co-OP woould be amazing for that style . All in all , i've had fun !
The one line I found comical was durning the Danger Close mission where you're in the AC130.. The first tank that comes out of the bunker, when you destroy it the ground team says "Tank is destroyed" to which Graves replies ... "Good, I hate those things". I thought it was a cool recall to the end of MW2 when he wasn't actually in the tank.
I personally thought is was an overall 6.75/10 not as solid as MW19 and MW22 but still enjoyable in the end. It felt like an expansion story to MW22 and just sets up MW4. I also thought it was a mission too short as well. I agreed with you espresso in regards to the “DLC vibes” with the overall campaign
I won’t spoil anything but like… what was with this campaign?! So quick, the moments of importance felt unearned and brushed over. Every mission felt like Warzone Solo vs Bots. Only thing I liked was the graphics.
Agreed. Very rushed and unearned. I get we’re doing stuff but the stuff we’re doing is being 1 step behind Makarov. Just rushed and also that thing that happened? WORST POSSIBLE WAY
In summary, it’s a wild goose chase to find makarov, but in the end he still alive. Now they’re just dragging on the campaign to set up for a modern warfare 4
What happened to all the cinematic music? In the old cods the music really set the mood a lot but in this new one I feel like I’m mindlessly moving to the next objective
I called it. This was definitely one of the worst campaigns they’ve ever made. For soooo many reason. They really tried to make people care about the open combat shit. Talk about a flop. It makes me want to go back and replay the real MW story. They’re lucky the gameplay is actually fun this year and nothing like mw2

The open combat in this game what I always wanted. So much fun!!! But you can tell if they had more time to work on this it would have been better. Feels like something was missing.
The optimization was really good. I play 1440p high settings and was 250-325fps. I wish the missions were a little more in depth and longer but overall I thought it was good to put it simply. There was no missions where I was wowed tho except for the person that ya know, is gone now. Won’t spoil it.
Let's hope the game runs well on PC, this year. Last year was just horrible. I mean, they could make Packburts as a permanent UI on the screen and I wouldn't notice. Just horrible.
I personally dislike the open combat missions enemies keep spotting me crazy but over all it was way to ez even on veteran the story tied up something’s from the last game but im not a big fan of it
I can respect the desire to tell a story to it's completion if nothing else. Comparing this MW 1 2 and now 3 against the originals is obviously a rough patch for the new trilogy, as the majority will likely prefer the original, but, even if the ending of this most recent game is certainly lacking in the blockbuster, ultimate climactic moment type of feel, it's also obvious that there is still more story to tell. Story ain't over yet as they say, still has to play out some more.
Campaigns loaded. All my mw2 stats were reset to level 1. Store bought items showed only 5 including a free omni samurai bundle. Wanted to finish the Haunting before it expires. All my double xp tokens were gone. The souls I had saved gone. So I deleted the the last upload. And now the Campaign is jot accessible and neither is my mw 2 content. Hope this issue gets solved fast. I canf access anything i paid for and own. During live gameplay other ppl inlive comment section also said same experience.
This video convinced me. I’m a big need for CoD campaigns, but MWII’s campaign really disappointed me. I feel like this will be the same. For the first time in so long I’d rather wait until it’s on sale.
I honestly came back to MWII last year after quitting CoD at Ghosts. It showed lots of promise and I heard that CoD was gonna be 2 year cycles and the campaign is a DLC this year only to find out it’s MW3. It’s just me but I regret getting CoD again after stopping a while ago. And it won’t change with the business model since everyone buys into this. I don’t blame the developers who make the game but the higher ups who make the call to money grab.
Wtf are they doing? MWIIs campaign was full of unique and memorable ideas. Gaz upside down hanging from the chopper; parkouring your way through a moving convoy; scrounging for makeshift supplies to defeat Shadows; sniping multiple dudes in a huge level while calculating wind and distance. Practically every mission had a cool twist. Why did they throw all that away?
Personal opinion: so far I have enjoyed the campaign, I didn't play MW2 OR MW 2019 so to me it feels different. The last Cod I purchased was cold war lol. I can understand why people say it's a dlc but for someone who has not played any of the earlier MWs (except OG MW2) it felt new to me. Just my opinion 😁
Can we all start to remember that SHG gave us last time now with VG? They disappointed massively with the campaign in VG. MP will be cool for a couple weeks and then go stale just VG MP did. Not sure why we expect anything different from SHG at this point. Just distracting everyone with slide canceling and red dots on the map lol
Soap could’ve killed him in the heli and all would’ve been done. Price told him to stand down. Now that’ll haunt price forever. You saw his face at the end with Shepard. NOTHING IS STOPPING THE CAPTAIN NOW!
I think it's just me love the campaign. I do like the open area concept go loud if you want or stealth mode. I like that some of the missions are like a one-way road, then other open. Good mix up. I loved all the campaigns expect advanced warfare. not goanna spoil anything. But veteran mode is not that hard. done within couple hours because of the cinematic parts. I play all games on hardest difficulty. Just doesn't feel right when you play it any less. But all in all, great campaign can't wait for the next one.
I played half the campaign and refunded the game. Probably the worst COD campaign I played, this year felt like a DLC from MW and MW2. I have played each COD campaign at midnight after in person midnight releases since COD 4 and the "open missions" just felt like warzone side quests. I want to be put in cool situations with restricted weapons to optimize the gaming experience instead of choosing my class like multiplier or warzone. Stealth was 100% optional and had 0 true stealth/sniper missions. I hope this game gets the worst sales in COD history just to prove a DLC is not worth full price.
It was fun getting to play in new environments but you could tell that this was supposed to be mw2 year 2 content. It also felt underwhelming playing in reused and rehashed content like verdansk and urzikstan. Some open combat missions were fun but some of them were just too tedious and boring. Like the one where you have to recover the black box from the plane, or when you go to urzikstan to get gas. Also we still don’t get to know what happened directly after mw2. We see them dropping into Warzone and then they leave the match to focus on makarov lol. Also the stories of Mace, Ronin, Alejandro, Valeria, Graves and Oz just get left in the dust. Who is Oz and why is he in shadow company? Why didn’t we see him in mw3? Why don’t we still know what happens to Graves? Are we going to get these answers in warzone cutscenes at the start of every season? If so then that’s just straight up lazy and boring. They had a good start with mw19 and then started messing up the plot with these warzone cutscenes that.
100% agree with this review. I was left confused, disheartened and wanting more from the campaign. The games that MADE a the CoD legacy were multiplayer maps MADE from the campaign. And they weren’t just warzone set in single player (open combat missions). NOTTTT… HALF… the missions being set in verdansk or voltosk. Just lazy in my opinion. PLUS 2-3 “flash back” missions. Plain lazy. The story feels so hollow compared to the original iteration. New Makarov doesn’t come close to the original. In this day in age of graphics and accessibility to writers, I just really don’t understand how it falls so short. If you’re a fan of the campaign and looking forward to the original maps, yeah you’ll buy it just like I did. But if not, stick with what you’ve got.
Good review. Skip this one honestly. If you're onboard for MP, wait for a sale. I refunded this after playing first 3 missions. Its terrible. Feels like a 70 dollar dlc. I think it was BO3 that allowed full loadout customization in the campaign, even including 'super' weapons if you unlock them. This was super cool as it allowed you to approach missions completely differently, real replayability.
Not sure why this never returned..
Bo2 had that
Bo2, and Infinite Warfare also had custom loadouts for campaign
@@clover4522 yea
Cause all dev effort goes into Warzone these days.
Bullet sponge bosses get tiring and no firearm customization in campaign. Terrible.
You cried? Dude…
@@GunviolencexProbably just a but like usual till mw4

The first MW and MW2s campaigns were so good and set this campaign to be truly amazing.
I was so infuriated with how disappointed I was with this one
The mission alone made me love mw2 , there is no mission in mw3 I’ll ever remember was hyped for this too.
@@Tearod203 Shame really was working all day yesterday waiting to finish being hyped, come home to this disappointment
Bro same, ending really had me kinda mad. They really rushed through that scene maybe a little too quickly..
what was the ghost reference?
Campaign is actual trash
@@logangarner8169 there is a german shepherd dog and the end of the campaign which you can pet (its a reference to Riley from Ghosts)
Even before the game I predicted that this game was not gonna end the trilogy. I had a feeling they’d save the cool stuff for MW4.
You're delusional.
Why save it? Why give people an awful campaign? Why make a shitty product and not put any effort into it?
Because they don't give a shit. They're not "saving the cool stuff." There is no cool stuff. This is as good as it is going to get. Welcome to CoD.
They definetly do becouse there is NOTHING cool about MW 3 campaing its litteraly scam and false advertisment
I was rly surprised by the ending not the story but the moment it was over. I did not expect the last mission to be the last. It felt so wrong to end there.
Yes! It was abrupt
I agree. I feels like they were designed as raid missions and reworked as campaign missions
***spoiler comment***
Soap should’ve went out in a better way not in a subway.
Glad to hear positive things about it. I just started the campaign.
Yeah... they turned him into some Joker wannabe. I hate it.
There was far too many open combat missions, it felt like they weren't given enough time to make a good mission with the team. Or they were lazy.
Thats bullshit coz i remember them saying shit like - we have 7 big teams working on this so we can deliver best zombies single battleground and multiplayer so far with almost 1billion dollars budget.
I did the dam mission full stealth, the enemy never got to fire a weapon, which was super fun, but everything else in the campaign was just ok
Story was 3/10 and the game play was -1/10
I felt myself in a battlefield campaign doing missions solo, didn't feel like I was playing COD at all, sad as hell
It felt like spec ops in a way and im a spec ops player i had fun but it felt a little different than mw19 and mw2
Gonna be honest, SHG should just stick to being a support studio for Warzone or just work with Infinity Ward on their projects since it seems they can make better MP changes then IW but drop the ball when it comes to anything campaign related
IW made the campaign blud
It is a fun campaign, and a lot of your criticism holds up. I am happy with the more grounded nature of this game, the push and pull between the factions has you wondering who is really in the front in this race, ya know? It's really well done, just too short sadly.
Those who pre-order wil never learn! Should've just watched those youtube channels that compile all the cutscenes into a "movie" and wait for warzone.
Lets see what Xbox does with Call of Duty in the next 5-10 years

I’m only a few missions in, but I’m enjoying the change of pace. Cod campaigns are always the side attraction for me, and sometimes I don’t ever get around to them. So this open combat stuff is a fun approach. Feels like taking out fortresses in Far Cry or something.

Thank you for the replies. I look forward to play 😁
Halfway through so far and I’ve been enjoying it quite a bit!
And you’re right there were too many.
i feel like they will make an additional updates for the campaign ,
The game is very refreshing even if it had some BO2 inspiration .
Love they ended it on a lose , and the cliffhanger it self !
I love the feeling of urgency and precision at the same time .
So The Open combat has been a pleasent surprise , and some Co-OP woould be amazing for that style .
All in all , i've had fun !
The campaign was a wet, piece of dog shit
WORST POSSIBLE WAY
Classic case of dlc turned full price game if you ask me
In summary, it’s a wild goose chase to find makarov, but in the end he still alive. Now they’re just dragging on the campaign to set up for a modern warfare 4
I loved the campaign but it was so short.
Probably written by AI. Because that’s not an ending, that’s the worst cliffhanger in all of COD.
The ending was so bad, I was expecting more
What happened to all the cinematic music? In the old cods the music really set the mood a lot but in this new one I feel like I’m mindlessly moving to the next objective
I called it. This was definitely one of the worst campaigns they’ve ever made. For soooo many reason. They really tried to make people care about the open combat shit. Talk about a flop.
It makes me want to go back and replay the real MW story.
They’re lucky the gameplay is actually fun this year and nothing like mw2
Definitely not the worst campaign, kid.

The optimization was really good. I play 1440p high settings and was 250-325fps. I wish the missions were a little more in depth and longer but overall I thought it was good to put it simply. There was no missions where I was wowed tho except for the person that ya know, is gone now. Won’t spoil it.
Dude what? My rig barely hits 80 fps but MW2/2019I used to get easy 144. Running a 3080 Ti.
Let's hope the game runs well on PC, this year. Last year was just horrible. I mean, they could make Packburts as a permanent UI on the screen and I wouldn't notice. Just horrible.

All my double xp tokens were gone. The souls I had saved gone. So I deleted the the last upload. And now the Campaign is jot accessible and neither is my mw 2 content.
Hope this issue gets solved fast.

This video convinced me. I’m a big need for CoD campaigns, but MWII’s campaign really disappointed me. I feel like this will be the same. For the first time in so long I’d rather wait until it’s on sale.
Thanks for the honest review
I honestly came back to MWII last year after quitting CoD at Ghosts. It showed lots of promise and I heard that CoD was gonna be 2 year cycles and the campaign is a DLC this year only to find out it’s MW3. It’s just me but I regret getting CoD again after stopping a while ago. And it won’t change with the business model since everyone buys into this. I don’t blame the developers who make the game but the higher ups who make the call to money grab.
They need to let players choose what weapons and attachments we want to use for campaigns
Why did they throw all that away?
ngl this campaign even being an add on is still ass loll
@lobster-p3652 The whole dlc thing was never actually confirmed
I'd say it's confirmed now@@thebodykeepsthescore2828
Seems very short… the price was extremely high for a basic dlc upgrade. Modern Day Robbery geez
NOTHING IS STOPPING THE CAPTAIN NOW!
i liked the little easter egg in the mission trojan horse where if you pet the german shepard in the beginning its name is riley
I wasn't expecting much from campaign I bought it for the multiplayer maps from back in the day I've been missing those maps
You hit the nail on the head!!!!!! THIS WAS DLC CONTENT AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN! Milked and duped.
I just want a full, 6 to 7 hour campaign with “Clean House” and “Zero Dark Thirty” vibes. Maybe a few guns blazing missions here and there.
There's no any cod campaign reach 6 to 7 hrs, there's 4 minimum even your favorite mw2019
The mw2019 campaign was goated compared to what's going on these days
Activision doesn't give a shit about their franchise- this was a horrible release, lacking all polish and quality.
Save your money please
this game should of never been a Premium title should of been a DLC all Sledgehammer is doing is cleaning up Infinity Ward Mess
The open combat missions “messes with the flow of the campaign”. Couldn’t agree more.
I just Finished the Campaign, i loved the Campaign every Aspect of it Except that is ended so suddenly, but it was really fun
To me the game was defiantly top tier need some changes but i like this new direction
I’m not picking it up until later. I’m still having fun with MW2. The fact that this was supposed to be DLC originally made me apprehensive.
I finished it and thought "so was this a teaser for the full campaign?" campaigns used to be something we played for weeks....not hours.
