- Watch the vlog to see me struggle REAL hard mounting casts to my articulator for the first time. ALSO, I survived my first fall quarter of dental school (YAY)! Studying for finals definitely took a toll on me so I’ll be resting up a lot over this winter break :)
WOOPS My bad for interchanging the terms "cast" and "mount." Casts are the physical models and mounting refers to the process of attaching those casts to the articulator.

Thank you! Our school's curriculum really emphasizes dental anatomy so that's why we wax so much during our first year! :)

I love your videos! I was wondering if you could make a video talking about what prerequisites you took as an undergrad and what you majored in? Also do you have any advice for someone who wants to pursue a career in the dental field? I'm a senior in high school and I have no idea what classes I should take in college or what I should major in and I like to plan ahead. All I know is that I've always wanted to be a general dentist. I'm currently in a dental assisting program and I'm loving it so far. Happy holidays 😊

Ey yo Laura. Love your vlogs! Seems like you're very happy in dentistry and that inspires me to focus hard on my studying although I get pretty lazy sometimes. Question. Do you have to be "Naturally Smart" some may call it to become a dentist? For a high school student, what are the main subjects that I should focus on most to become a dentist?
Definitely not! Some people are really efficient learners and I guess you can refer to them as "naturally smart," but so many of us work hard to get into dental school and study to become a dentist!
In high school I suggest taking science (bio, chem, physics), math, language, and leadership classes! I also plan to make a video about this :)

I really love the way you break down everything, I'm 24 years old student in nursing school, thinking about transitioning to dental school after getting my Registered Nurse licence (in order to work and study while I'll be in dental school) I wanna work as home visit rn (once/twice a week or part time) do you think that I'll be able to work and study? Will it be the wise decision?
You're teeth are so beautiful! Did you have any work done on them? They're so perfect! I had Invisalign but am not 100% happy with my smile and I'm thinking about getting some work done on them.

Hi!! Dental school is definitely not easy - there's A LOT of work and classes that we take every quarter. In my opinion that material that we learned so far is not so much difficult to grasp, it's just hard to keep up because we have so many things to learn at the same time and it's fast-paced!

Great question! From my experience and what I've heard your undergrad university really doesn't matter as long as you fulfill all of the prerequisites!

Yup agreed but you know sometimes I really wish it would have been a tad bit like yours. Especially the wax up part and the casts😭😭. I used to cry throughout my first year of dentistry because of that.😭😭😭
